It still puzzles me how the M9 ever got selected by the US. It's really not very impressive.
The military might do extensive trials to determine the actual combat capability of a weapon but I guarantee you that the results of a combat trial are certainly not the #1 thing used to decide procurement and probably not #2 either. More important are things like procurement (can we build it ourselves? is it going to be made here, or in a foreign country?), supply (how complex is it to service, and train people to service it? will it function with our existing supply chain?), and cost (how many of these can we get with the portion of our budget allocated?).
A crap weapon is always a mistake, but a 'good enough' weapon that can be supplied cheaply and in large numbers wins out over the weapon that's impressive in testing but expensive, only delivers a thousand units a year, and disappears entirely when a contract goes up in smoke. The M9 isn't spectacular by any means, but it's good enough, and conditions were right to supply the military as required. When dealing with an organization the size of the entire US military, those logistical concerns take priority.
What's the decision between the hi point cf380 and theC9? They're damn near identical..
I suspect it was more expensive than the Beretta.
Beretta was able to under cut the Sig by having cheaper replacement parts, even though the initial pistols were more expensive. At the very least the cheaper parts.
On another note, any one have experience with AR15 Performance shop? I'm thinking of ordering a barrel, bolt, and carrier from them.

The CF380 comes in a caliber that you can't find at a decent price, and the other is 9mm.
Lmao how the hell do all you people remember me?

I have actually been in numerous Crossfire's and I have been stabbed in the butt.
So I've decided that when I get my tax return back I'm going to buy this and a 10-round mag conversion kit.
I realize this is my third time asking, but any experiences with the gun/scope? Also, time to bring up the age old debate, is it safe for me to shoot my Chinese 5.56 ammo in this gun, even though it's only chambered for .223?

I have the C9, it's not that bad of a gun, but you get what you pay for. It's clunky, heavy, and sometimes doesn't want to work right. Also, how'd you get stabbed in the ass?
So. Those of us who frequent SH ought to know about Kalashnikov USA by now.
Behold: masterpieces of combined American and Russian engineering:

Family photo.
What is that top one? I really like how it looks.
That's a Century Arms C308 rifle. I got some work done on it last week and I hope it was worth it.
We used our laser-cutter to make patches out of wood.
What do you think?

I'll take requests.
Guys, is it worth an extra ~$300 to get a .223 with a 1-9" twist versus a 1-12" twist?
In case you guys missed this from SH... Looks pretty cool: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1481418

This is what Swiss law enforcement agencies do with old k31s.
Doing some more reading I see that too high of a twist can mess up lighter bullets. If I'm planning to primarily shoot with 40-55gr, would 1-9" be too much for the low end there?
It sounded like they were the importer before the sanctions and decided to start making their own to stay afloat.
My gun store has a M44 Mosin available. It's a rusty piece of shit, and they want $300 for it, but it has the bayonet mounted to it. Probably not gonna get it.
So I just bought a Howa Hogue 1500 Heavy Barrel 20" 1:12" twist .223 for just under a grand. It'll probably be here early next week.

I love my M44, best $90 I ever spent as a 12 year old. It's a Izhevsk 1943, numbers matching, pretty rare as M44's go.
What are your guy's opinions on Ruger handguns?
What are your guy's opinions on Ruger handguns?
Which one, or as a company in general?
As a company in general they make some pretty good stuff.
Quality of product. I want a new handgun but I don't know what yet. I prefer .45 personally. I'm considering a 1911 but I recall shooting a few 9mm Rugers as a kid and they weren't bad.
I'd have no problems buying a Ruger 1911.

Good to know. What about Rock Island Armory 1911's?

My old Ruger MKII is my favorite shooting pistol, so smooth and steady.

RIAs are ok.

Yeah. I've fired those before. They're fun for plinking paper. I use handguns for fun/home defense so I would not opt for a 22 for that...
