I saw a Springfield Armory M1A for sale at academy, it was like 1200 or around that. I want it so badly..
I grabbed mine for that price and built my M14 EBR clone with it, and damn, is that ever sweet.

Pics?
Do you like your rifle? I was interested in one myself at one point but I decided against it.

I like it, but frankly if I were to spend $3500 buying/building another semi auto .308 rifle, I'd probably buy a SCAR H and mod it or build an M110 SASS clone.
That EBR weighs a hefty 15lbs with everything on it and I got that particular sling to carry it mostly hands free for that reason.
Shoots under 1 MOA though with handloads, and that's what the chassis promises; it is only an M1A Standard as well, not an NM with a medium or heavy barrel.
So, we had a shooting you may or may not have heard about pretty close to home today. I've actually driven past the location almost weekly for the last two years. Kinda weird being in a small little town that's become famous for two nationally broadcasted shootings within the last ten years and a bit more haunting knowing the manhunt pretty much went right past us at home while we went about an other-wise normal day.
Needless to say it took the local politican-wannabes no time to bash gun owners for their ownership and forget to give the victims families time to mourn.
Asked my local NFA dealer about getting a trust. He said that it's the route to take, but he didn't have any recommendations for a lawyer. I did read that the silencer shop option is viable as they're a massive Texas based NFA dealer, and they actually have a lawyer create it for you. It looks like I'll be owning a suppressor, now I just need to be able to afford it.

A SCAR H would be sweet for sure. And does the chassis make that much of a difference in how well it shoots?
A SCAR H would be sweet for sure. And does the chassis make that much of a difference in how well it shoots?
Yes, the chassis was designed to make a 2-4 MOA, rack grade M14 shoot under 1.5 MOA with M118LR
They were to be used on the military's remaining inventory of M14s that were in who knows what condition (i.e. rack grade); any rifle that wouldn't shoot sub 1.5 MOA in those chassis were scrapped for parts or repaired.
Typically, before the advent of these chassis, rear lugged receivers, heavy barrels, NM gas pistons, triggers, sights, op rods and guides, unitized gas cylinders and glass bedded stocks were all used to increase an M14's accuracy for a period of time. Generally M14s made sub-MOA by those processes didn't stay that way for long.

I'm thinking about biting the bullet and just getting it.

How hard is it to get matched ammo for use with weapons with suppressors?
Also finally got my new ejector and center support in my 74. HOPEFULLY I get to take it out Friday or this weekend.
For you lockpickers:

Not super difficult at all, buy 147gr 9mm or 230gr .45 ACP; subsonic .300 BLK is on the shelves, but subsonic 5.56/.223 and 7.62x51/.308 aren't quite as common.

I want these picks so bad I feel like I could wear them on a necklace and nobody would question it
Dude, lockpicking's always been one of those things I've wanted to learn to do even though I would never have a reason to do it. Is that weird/scary for me to admit?
Just sent in my resume to work at a tactical shooting range. I'm sure they already have all the employees they need, but it was fun to make the resume. Debating if I should've put down what I CC or not.

why would it be? most locksports people think of it like a puzzle, like sudoku but more fun
whats weird/scary is that you think of it as weird/scary
I guess he assumes that most people who would want to learn lockpicking would do it for dishonest reasons? I don't think that's the case though. Most criminals don't have the patience, attention, money or motivation to learn how to pick locks. It's mostly a skill that people pick up as a hobby or a profession for completely innocent reasons.
There is probably like less than 5% of people skilled in lockpicking that use the skill for dishonesty.
In other news all my 380 Bodyguard mags are converted to 7 rounds now. One in the pipe makes it 8 so I'm pretty happy with that. I just wish there were decent grip extensions for the magazine base plates. I don't need a tone of extra room, just maybe like less than half an inch for my pinky to rest on but everyone sells extensions that let you put like two extra fingers around the grip which isn't what I want.
First non-cloth OWB holster coming in for my CZ-75 BD. It's a class 2 retention, but it's the only one I could find with reasonable reviews.
Fair enough point Code. Always thought of it as a dishonest people are the only people that really find any worth in it. How many of you guys mess around with lockpicking then and do you ever have any practical uses for the skill?
The only practical use I've had for lock picking was opening a small coin bank I lost the key for, and opening my door when I locked myself out of it. I wouldn't consider it a practical skill though, if I lost the key for a door I'd use the replacement key or change the lock. In the apocalypse, I'd just crowbar/force open the door.

That range actually reminds me of the Penn & Teller episode on gun control. They took this kid out to a range and let him shoot a few rounds off.
Kind of odd how I can't find anything of this sort.
Which gun is better, M249 or Negev? (specifically related to being in the Light Machine Gun role)
Hey boys and girls.
The UK is having A gun law reform during September. This can either go really well or really badly.
To make sure it doesn't go really badly we need your help.
To do this go to this site and follow the instructions. http://www.armbritain.com/forum/index.php?topic=4761.0 it only requires you to email a list of things to a representative.
It may not be much but this year could be make or break for UK firearm and self defence laws.
I'd love for our Olympics team to be able to shoot their .22 pistol in this country without having to go abroad to practice due to the law. And the chance to fire a semi auto centre-fire here would be fantastic.
Cheers guys.

I hope common sense prevails, things are already restricted enough over there. And the Guards here love to ape the Brits when it suits them so it might have a knock on effect for us. There was talk of restricting pump-action and semi automatic shotguns here recently but thankfully everybody told the lobby group to sit back down and shut up.
So should I trade my sig in to buy a 1913mfg 1911 for $900

I think you're underestimating criminals, most criminals dont' want to get caught, and the best one's would do all their research, just like any "profession"
For one week in my college dorm I knew how to lockpick. I have this set of Southords that I bought years ago but never used, and one day i was fucking around on my door and actually opened it. For the rest of the week i helped at least 3 people on my floor open their rooms when they left the keys inside. After that i couldn't do jack shit with the picks lol

who's more likely to get caught? the guy who spends 6 minutes fiddling with the lock or the guy who breaks a window in the back and is out in 5 minutes?
