I just pulled my Mosin out of the safe and found rust in the barrel. I shot some cheap surplus Chinese crap through it for the first time last month and thought I cleaned it well. Used a wire scrubber, mop, and then patches till no more colour was coming out then a nice coat of oil but it still rusted. I need to go buy some No.9 I think.
Took some pics of my two bolt guns and my USP.

Excuse the shitty perspective, I was in a rush to get home before dark.
Top one is a Ruger 77/357, very nice plinkster that can handle deer. This is my newest gun and by far the funnest to shoot.
Middle is a 2000 HK USP in 9x19, V1 I think, it has a decocker, is DA/SA and has the safety on the left. I got this at a yard sale for $625. Best handgun that I've ever shot.
Bottom is a 1980s Ruger M77 in .243 with a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9x40mm scope. I planned on selling it, but it handles too nicely to sell.

I had the same thing happen to me twice now. I lathered the damn thing in Hoppes 9 on top of my usual CLP and I've never seen the bore so shiny, but I know that shine is just oil left in there. Hopefully it won't rust now though.
Question for those more well versed in NFA gun trusts. I am going the Silencer Shop route of buying their $130 trust setup, and I need to know what I need to do to get it to be a legal trust. I've never done anything involving legal documents like this before.
So according to Colts SN database, that 1911s frame is a Colt military issue from 1919. The slide is a Remington UMC from anywhere from 1917 to 1919 but hard to pinpoint because of the lack of SN on slides then. The wearing is consistent which leads me to believe the Remington parts went to war in Europe and was matched to a brand new Colt frame once the war was over.
Still want it.
I really wouldn't pay $900 for it now. You'll be ripping yourself off hard on a butchered hodgepodge that in all likelihood will not run very well. I don't think I'd ever pay $900 for a gun cobbled together from a parts bin. I get that there's a certain neatness and story value to the gun but close to $1000 is a scam and the shop knows it.
My advice is, bring in what you've researched, show it to them, offer them $500, and if they won't take it, walk away.
Pour hot water through the barrel before cleaning. If it's hot enough it'll evaporate out before you've even gotten patches through and even if it doesn't, the patches will get it. It pulls double duty of dissolving the salts and loosening up all of the shit that surplus ammo leaves behind. It's worked for me every time.
If the water is to hot won't it just cause instant surface rust?
bonde:
the cz 75 is definitely a great gun for us nordics.
i'd recommend looking at (and trying!) the various cz75 variants, the sig sauer x-five line (friend has an allround which is a very good pistol), tanfoglios, and most other match guns
send me a pm if you want to ask anything, i suppose some norwegian rules/concepts carry over to denmark
Thanks a lot for the helpful offer. Tangfolios and Sig's definitely also seem to be solid options. I should probably try see if any of the locals have some of these pistols, so that I can try them out before I make a purchase.

And here everyone is the idiot that didn't clean my CZ after borrowing it.

I would like to get a 77/22 in .22 magnum, but I couldn't really justify the price.
If you don't want to spend an assload, the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow is probably your best bet. I don't know about Vikingland, but here they only run about $900, and CZ designed them specifically for IPSC. I've had people tell me they're so accurate for a production gun it's almost like cheating.

It's a frankengun. Don't waste your time with it.
if you can afford it, also look at the swiss Sphinx handguns. I've shot a 2000 and easily one of the best 9mms out there (along with the Sig P210)
I have heard mighty good things about them, but it might be too expensive for a starter gun. I need something to have on my wish list for later :)

I read some really positive reviews about them, and they seem to be quite affordable.
I'm a bit late to the Mosin argument because I got banned for whatever reason. Ok, It's ugly, heavy, and damn unwieldy. However, I love shooting my Mosin, I use the buttstock for leverage occasionally, and being honest, I've used my rifle as a sort of pole vault. Mosins were made to be tough, and that's part of the reason why they are still found in most warzones currently. They shouldn't put you off from shooting, the recoil isn't nearly as bad as people think, and it's super easy to use. I recommend anyone wanting a good low cost hunting rifle with some sentimental value to either get one, or get a Mauser. With that said, I wish we could get low cost SVT-40's here in the US...

But it's a pre A1 1911 :(
Find me a better one
If it's still a pre-a1 slide with mostly original parts and you can prove it's a pre-a1 slide, it's still a decent grab. Just not a $2-3k find.
Mine's a pre-a1 frame with a1 rearm, so still not perfect, but still not a gun I'd give up (especially being a free hand-me).
There are worse Frankenguns you can get, but better original you can get too.
[editline]31st August 2015[/editline]
Also, just my own 0.02 on that particular gun; I'd offer $500, and if they say no, tell them you're not interested. I wouldn't consider that particular gun to be worth it with the bubba'd sights and discoloration (though, as I said earlier, I don't have a great picture, so that may be from the photo and not in person) if the slide and frame don't match.
The only good Frankengun I've ever owned was my SMLE, which I bought for $200 and was expecting to have to work on. I stay away from mismatched guns unless I get the opportunity to test fire them first. I still regret losing that thing, I've been keeping my eyes open for another Enfield but I haven't seen any SMLEs since, only No. 4s.
My 1911's a rearm and my Mk. IV has the god-aweful scope rail on it. I've personally never had major issues with it. Just understand the guns aren't worth much when they're not matching and show obvious major work done to the gun such as sights being completely butchered.
I kind of want to get a Ruger 10/22 and slap the P90 stock on it.

Buy an airsoft P-90, gut it out and use it. They are more than strong enough and much cheaper than spending 270 bucks on a stock. Numerous instructional videos on how to do it. Lot of people put 10/22's into airsoft bodies. Seem some very good ones as well. Thought about if I got a 10/22, gutting my XM-8, and having a 22lr XM-8, lol.

I'd rather spend the money and have one already pre-cut. But, I'm a picky SoB.

Lol, if you are picky then yea, XD. You'd need a dremel tool and maybe even some epoxy if you did the airsoft.

Well I know for a fact the whole gun is from 1917-1919. I just really want a pre A1 1911.
I'm gonna offer as low as I can. If anything it'll be my project gun. I'm going back Thursday

I used an airsoft trigger pack for an MP5 to dress up my GSG-5 when I had it. Gave it the appearance of a Navy trigger pack. Had a real HK forend and stock on it, too.
Sold it to a friend, figuring I could buy it back if it took my fancy again. His place was broken into and it was stolen along with a couple other firearms.

Now that really sucks about the place being broken into, sounds like you had a pretty awesome MP-5 clone. Guy down the road from me had an MP-5 handguard with a flashlight built into it. If I could've gotten a GSG-5, I would've brought it from him. Remember a few years back, local gunstore had a semi auto MP-5. Looking back, I sorta regret buying my old Savage, should've either gotten that MP-5 or that sexy AK underfolder they had.
Springfield is running another week long, daily giveaway, vote on what you gun you prefer for a chance to win it. They are also running another promotion for their handguns. Buy a new Springfield hand gun (XD, XDm,1911, ect.) and get a pair of mags, mag holder, and range bag for free.
So, my boss picked up a Glock 43 yesterday for his second gun he's ever purchased. I'm not a Glock fan, and I dry fired it just to drop the hammer down after I safety checked it, and I still have to say, I still hate the triggers on a brand-new gun. That being said, he's extremely excited to shoot it for the first time this weekend and I really hope he enjoys it. He got it strictly after the shooting last week; one of the victims was a customer of ours that he and several others of us have met at work. Thankfully, she's doing pretty good so far all things considered.

Which shooting last week? The one in VA?
glocks have crap triggers anyway. I love glocks but the triggers are not their strong point
