So I might replace my AK mag latch with this new one. It might fix my wobble problem.

Finnish M39s at Classic for $350, literally no reason not to buy the best Mosins ever made

Idk you can get essentially the same gun with minor differences in the russian version for $100. maybe for $200 it's be worth it to me, and there's the history of course.
So the girl I'm dating's father had a conversation with her that went something like:
"I don't think you should see him anymore. He's an atheist and did you know he owns guns?"
Awww yeah. Gotta shatter them social conventions.
She found my CCW today though and she thought it was sexy.
I'll just replace your $1000 1911 with a $400 Norinco clone, after all, they're the same gun with minor differences.
For your first Mosin, it's worth it, because it will be the first and last one you buy, unless you buy more M39s

The M39 is leaps and bounds a better rifle. Not even comparable.

I did say something like that though. She said what she said and I said something like "You wanna see it? I can whip it out right here if you want. You can even touch it. But it's not big so don't be disappointed." Or something like that with all the appropriate sexual context.
Paint orange stripes on a Hi-point and try to sell it for 8x its value.
I have a Hi-Point and you just gave me a great idea! I could do what this other guy did and sell a 15 round Hi-Point carbine mag as a 30 round Hi-Point C9 mag with it.
I did say something like that though. She said what she said and I said something like "You wanna see it? I can whip it out right here if you want. You can even touch it. I can't stop imagining the Family Guy shotgun joke.
"Don't make it too excited or it'll go off in your hair."
The M39 is leaps and bounds a better rifle. Not even comparable.
So you've shot both like I have then? Or are you just talking out your ass. If you're going to spend $300 dollars I'd want a better rifle than a mosin with a fancier stock and a slightly less rattling in the bolt. And like I said just my opinion, I'd just go for a nicer bolt action, you could probably find a K98 for that much if you're looking for WW2 type rifles.

Would you consider this a good price for M39s? I'm a little tight on cash at the moment but the girlfriend loves the wood on these rifles and wants me to buy it.
finnish mosins are objectively the best mosin rifles, period. a good condition m39 is a great shooter with a smooth action..
but why americans shoot shit surplus x54R in them, i will NEVER understand. they were made for 7,62x53R which is a different cartridge.
the people who say they're the same have never held a Finnish-made x53R cartridge next to a sovjet/WP x54R round
why even bother to buy an "exclusive" mosin if you can't be bothered to buy a fifty dollar die set and shoot the proper round in it
No though it's not that it's not a better mosin, it's that it's still a mosin for $300 so unless you're just hell bent on getting a mosin I'd get something nicer is all
I can still get kar98ks for $300 and I'll do that before buying any type of Mosin for its advertised performance. I own one and I love mine for the history it represents and nothing else, 'cause it's an un-ergonomic brick of a gun whose only real practical upside is its durability and cheap ammo.
M39s are the best Mosins but they're still Mosins.

I hear you there, since my M44 is far from a tack driver, but all the Mausers I've seen in that price range are Yugos of so-so quality. If what I'm hearing is that for the same price as a beater Mauser I can get a very good Mosin with more historical value, the Mosin is honestly sounding like a better deal.
I'm about to pick up a true-blue German 1942 Kar98k for $350. The original stock broke and was replaced with an accurate reproduction, but otherwise it's all original and all correct. As long as I can do that I'll never buy another Mosin for anywhere close to that price.
I must be some sort of stubborn or stupid, because I had to shoot through about 200 rounds of surplus 7.62*54r before I got sick and damn tired of cleaning it for two hours every time I shot 10 rounds and swore to never shoot corrosive sooty ass surplus shit ever again.

Yes, I bought mine for $425 missing blueing in places, some rust, and some minor stock damage; bore was perfect though because it was in AZ.
Most of them go for near that price however, so anything less is a deal, and getting the tiger stripe Artic Birch is amazing.
Here is a good comparison of prices for you:

This exactly, compare a beater Yugo mauser to a Mauser K98K; the same gun with minor differences makes a big difference.
Only thing about Mausers is that they're like Enfields, because most of the cheap surplus has run out whereas this isn't the case with Mosins.

As long as I'm paying 20 cents a round to feed my Mosin, I won't complain, I have .308 and .30-06 guns I never shoot because they're too expensive to plink with.
I used to think that, but after hours of fruitless cleaning and still finding rust spots in my barrel on two separate occasions, I've decided Ill pay .50 a shot and it will be worth my time spent not cleaning it.
Girlfriend wanted me to buy two M39s so we compromised on buying one. I'll be sure to post pics for you guys when it gets here.

What upper is that and what did you pay for that ELCAN Spectre DR?
What upper is that and what did you pay for that ELCAN Spectre DR?
The elcan is a repro, and the upper is a PSA upper. I don't remember specifically which.

I was curious because it looked like it shipped together in that box, and of course real ELCANs are rather expensive.

yeah real ones are lmao spensive. I'm definitely interested in seeing how much this repro can take.

those boxes that PSA sells their parts in are great. I keep my AR in that box along with my mossberg 590 and a whichever of my handguns I'm not carrying at the moment

Ian has a patreon now, probably about the only thing I would actually donate towards there.
This jackhammer video seems like kind of a turning point for FW. I hope things go well for him, he's definitely the best firearms personality we have right now.
I just picked up that 1911 from 1917 and while I was there I saw a Finnish mosin and handled it for the first time.
Now I want one :(
I had a Glock 21 Gen 3, which was an awesome gun, but it had the ergonomics of a 2x4.
The mag release was impossible to reach without turning the gun 90 degrees to your left, and the slide release was tiny. I shot my father-in-law's Gen 4 Glock 17 and fell in love with it. So I decided to sell my Glock 21, and I sold my 3DS which I never used anyway with a bunch of games and got...
