isn't it possible to replace the rail with a steel/alu one secured properly?
i like keltec guns because their designs are innovative and surprisingly sound, but what makes me think "err" is their way too high use of polymer halves kept together by bolts and nuts.. quite literally so
a pmr-30 would be very cool to have
No, it's molded as part of the pump/forend.

fuck, that looks pretty bad
Yea, had they made the forend out of cast aluminum it would be heavier but it wouldn't break like that.

Or if they used the same concept of the G36 rail system.
Finally got a new gas bushing in my Mini 14, which means that my empty casings aren't ejected with deadly velocity, and that they actually are reloadable as well (my Mini really dinged up the empty casings). I can even fire it with a suppressor now!
The camera was rather hastily set up, but I'm still pretty happy with the outcome.

Does anyone use electronic ear protection? I've been thinking about getting some because putting plugs in and out all the time is annoying and I'm lazy. Can anyone recommend a pair? Howard Leight Impact sport on amazon for $40 seems like a good investment
Does anyone else ever have dreams/nightmares about their firearms? Maybe 3 times a month I have these vivid nightmares of myself being unable to defend myself/family members in a home invasion due to my lack of ability to operate one of my firearms (think 30 lb trigger pull, sites incredibly off center, mags that refuse to feed). I'm hoping once I get more practice they'll stop.
I have dreams like that. I also have dreams of not being able to press the keys to dial 911 or navigate the menus on my phone to get to the keypad under stress.
I got my Glock 19 back today. Looks like they shaved the ejector at an angle. So I'm going out in the morning to shoot it and see if it's fixed.
I also want to shoot my Bodyguard some more. Something is rattling, I'm not sure what the part is because I can't find a parts diagram.

I get this one all the time. In particular, I get super anxious/shaky when I am holding my gun in my dream, and pulling the trigger feels like it takes so much force and effort. Then I can't land any shots because I am pulling and shaking. But then I go hunting or to the range IRL, and I am smooth as butter.
Also, for those that conceal carry, how long do you keep the same ammo in the gun?
Also, also, Alien Gear holsters are amazeballs.

The only firearm related dream I've was getting arrested for opting to conceal-carry my AR-15, which apparently doesn't work even in dreams.

I use Caldwell. They work like a hearing aid until a shot goes off, then they cut everything. The only issue is they tend to like cutting in and out due to recoil jostling the batteries.

I'm also using one of those. Now and then I introduce new shooters to guns, I make sure they get a pair so that they hear what people around them are saying. I feel that it really helps when it comes to safety :)
Well, my Glock isn't fixed. I still get pelted on the head by one or two rounds a magazine. I didn't get any burning me today, but the potential is still there.
I guess I'll have to live with it.

The only rounds I change/shoot consistently are the one I throw in the chamber and the one at the top of the magazine or any that look especially worn/discolored/damaged.
“No one should be firing the gun without being ready to fire the gun,” he said. “No one should be blindly firing and pumping like that.”
One of the ways the guy shot himself in the hand, now of course I have no room to speak since I shot a hole through my window. But at the same time, user error. If you hurt yourself from your own negligence it is all in all your fault.
I will admit that the rail actually sliding off played a large role, but it's the same as grabbing the front of the slide of a handgun to rack it and putting your hand over the muzzle. Check your shit before you pull the trigger, same as popping of a round after hearing and feeling a squib load.
Come on, guys, read what I was replying to:
Just put a VFG on the KSG, all safety concerns now null and void.
Obviously just putting a VFG on there like mastermaul said is not a total solution to safety concerns.
I wasn't aware it was a shit molded rail. Don't bother with the gun I guess.
I just got back from shooting it again. I bought some 00 Buck to throw in it as a home defense sort of round and I wanted to make sure it cycled them good. And I'm happy to report it does and it's good.
Unlike my Glock which I also just got back from shooting, again, and despite using different extractors, springs and followers I can't get it to stop pelting my face with hot brass.
My next solution is to buy a brand new ejector, brand new extractor, brand new extractor spring, extractor follower and maybe even a lighter recoil spring and see if all these brand new factory parts fix it. Maybe something is out of spec.
Do you guys think a reduced weight spring may help? I think stock is 18 pounds. Maybe a 15 pound would be better? I'm primarily using 115gr target ammo.
I got a hold of two very nice things today

Nice mouse.
Hey, I'm just really glad I'm not the only FPer with mis-matched monitors. I can die happily now. :v:

I'm leaning towards an out of spec ejector, the extractor may or may not be contributing as well.
Just watched a video about the issue, Glock replaced just about every part with this guys Gen 4 G17, only thing different was the extractor:
"Glock replaced the #2 "dipped" extractor with a #3 "dipped" extractor. All other replacement parts are the same part numbers as originally came in the pistol (30274 ejector, 042 RSA)."

Also check your ejector:
"b) Erratic ejection, where the empties would sometimes fly into your face; irritating at best, dangerous at worst.
The generally-agreed cure for (a) is a new Recoil Spring Assembly (RSA), marked "0-4-3". The cure for (b) is a redesigned ejector, marked "30275". If your gun does not have both of these new parts, it should. If you don't have them, you can contact a Glock Armorer (perhaps through your dealer) or call Glock directly. Glock may want to have you ship the gun back for repair, but they are doing that fairly quickly these days. Glock's number is 770-432-1202, ask for customer service."
You can buy these from Lone Wolf:

The Gen4 housing will not fit in Gen3 Glocks, it is shaped differently, longer and narrower at the bottom.
What you CAN do is to take the ejector out of the Gen4 housing and put it into the Gen3 housing without difficulty. You just pull the thing out (toward the front) with a pair of pliers and push it into the other housing the same way it came out. Push it ALL the way in, as you can see in this photo I have not finished pushing the ejector into the housing. That's kind of important.

This guy changed his extractor to one from APEX:

"For thirty years, Glock 9mm handguns have been nearly synonymous with reliability, but recently, many Glock owners have been suffering from erratic and sometimes failed ejection with their Glock 9mm pistols. Numerous theories populate the various Internet gun forums, but so far there has been no definitive answer from Glock as to the cause, or a solution. Glock Customer Service responses range from total denial, instructions to send the gun in for repair, or sending out replacement parts to local armorers. It seems the erratic ejection issues appeared somewhere around the “M” serial number prefix in the Gen 3 9mm pistols, and possibly affect all Gen 4 9mm guns. One popular “fix” is to obtain the latest Gen 4 9mm ejector (Part Number 30274), which for most people, seems to make ejection a little more consistent but doesn’t always solve the problem. Others recommend the HRED extractor plunger assembly by White Sound Defense, but this product did nothing for me."
So, got bored and painted the grips on my Hi-Point...

Dude, I'm a redneck, shit happens that I have no explanation for. I kinda like it though, I disliked the black grips, and although this green was the wrong shade, I can fix that later.

Put some COD shit on there, paint it purple and gold. Go the whole 9 yards.

Ewwww, noo. I did edit a stock Hi-Point image though in gimp to see what a CoD inspired paint would look like.

Huge Glock Ejection Issue Post
I've seen all that information and I have all those parts.
043 recoil spring. 20374 ejector. #3 Extractor. They all came in my Glock 19 Gen 4 stock.
I tried the Lone Wolf Extractor, Apex Extractor neither of those fixed it.
I sent it away to have a gunsmith look at it and all they did was shave an angle onto the ejector. Didn't work.
So now I'm sort of out of options. I have all the most updated parts and I still get BTF and I've run out of straight forward fixes. That's why I'm trying a reduced recoil spring now and trying to replace my stock parts with new stock parts incase something is out of spec in such a way that no one can tell at a glance. But I've read every single thread in the Google search results for the BTF issues and I haven't found much help.
So my current play is this: Replace my stock Ejector with the new stock ejector. Replace stock extractor with new stock extractor (and spring, and guide rod and plug) and try it like that. Than if that doesn't work pop in the low recoil spring. If that doesn't work try the Apex with the first setup, if that doesn't work I'm going to try it the Apex with the low recoil spring, if that doesn't work I'll try different combinations of extractor springs/guiderods/plugs of different sizes and strength (Apex, NonLCI, LCI springs/plugs)
If none of that works I'll take my shaved ejector and make the angle more intense to see if that has any effect on it. Than try it with multiple setups of the above mentioned parts.
Basically desperately grasp at any and everything I can to fix it.
Get some wood grips for your hi point. :v:
