I don't really like glocks, I don't think I'll ever get one. It all just boils down to the fact that they just look so boring. I like me some good looking guns. 1911, desert eagle, USP match, bren ten, cz75b, ect.
I actually really like the futuristic, utilitarian look of Glocks but I can't shoot for shit with them. Something about the sights and trigger just don't do it for me.
Aesthetics are nice, but IMO finding a gun that you like when you're using it and not just when you're looking at it should be the priority.

They don't have to look good, they just have to work.

These have been floating around up here for about a year now. They seem like a decent pistol for sure.
So, got bored and painted the grips on my Hi-Point...

Now, it's not bad in concept.
Just that color is horrid.
My personal favorites would be OD green, matte black, or either a matte or sheen white.
If you decided to go wood like what was suggested, then you got a plethora of ideas, wood and stain types to try.
They don't have to look good, they just have to work.
Thats usually my opinion too, but when it comes to guns, if most of the time they sit around, why not sit around and look good?
Just got that Finnish Mosin from Classic Arms.

Bought the VKT manufacture, paid $20 extra for hand select. Nice furniture as the picture shows, not as shiny and lustrous as the wartime production ones though, showing that this is probably a post-war stock. The bolt has a different serial number from the receiver but has been marked off and a matching serial etched- looks like factory forced matching, so I'm guessing this was issued to the Finnish Civil Guard after WW2. The bore is nice and shiny and overall the action seems smooth, although there's some cosmoline.
Since signs point to it being meant for militia and it's been force-matched, the jury's still out as to whether it'll shoot as accurately as the wartime production ones are known for. If it shoots reasonably well I'll probably sell my M44, if not I'll just keep it as a historical piece.

If you look at the stock splicing fingers, it'll tell you whether or not it's wartime or post war:

The three stock splice variations that a collector will encounter on the m/39 rifles. On the left is the rounded finger shaped splice of the wartime produced stocks. The center shows the immediate post war produced versions used for repair of rifles in inventory and the last is the final version of the "three finger" splice made in the 1960's for use in refurbishment of the rifles that required new furniture.
Definitely version 3, thanks for the info. It looks very nice and I don't mind it being the post-war refinish, I am a little concerned though about the force-match.
Those really are awful pretty Mosins. They resemble G98s.

Some of them have unreal tiger-striping in the Arctic Birch:

I loved mine. So did the guy who stole it. You can get nonmatching SMLEs pretty cheap and they run perfectly fine. I paid $200 for mine, a mismatched Lithgow. I've been keeping an eye out for another.
I just got my FOID card a few weeks ago, now I want a Finnish M39. I wanted an M44 for awhile, but really, bayonets aren't that useful, and I'd rather have a straight-shooter of a weapon than a semi-shitty one with spike on the end.
If push comes to shove, just muzzle-thump that bitch.
I want a swiss K11 or K31 carbine
dat sexy straight pull bolt gets me all sorts of bothered and hot.
Just got that stuck casing out of my barrel yesterday, and put in a new maglatch and a scope rail.
I seriously recommend this maglatch to anyone with AK/M platform rifles, even if they have no problems with mag wobble, it's a solid improvement.

Is there anywhere in Europe where I can order a "reversed donkey dick" front grip for my AKM?
I think the reversed donkey dicks are just romanian handguards modified for underfolders

I bought my first handgun a couple weekends ago, would have posted sooner but I didn't even realize we had a firearms thread. Just happened into this part of the forum and bam.
Its a M1895 Nagant Revolver, made at the Tula plant in 1942. I want to shoot it so badly but I don't have a range to go to right now. Fits in well with my slav collection, both my 91/30 and my PU sniper are made at Tula in 1943, and my SKS was made at Tula in 1953. My M91 was made by Remington though, so far the only slav (but not really I guess) gun that I have not from Tula.
Ian and Karl put Fireclean to the test.

"I was hoping it would taste like victory, or freedom or something."
:v:
I'm glad we finally have our Karl & Ian slice of life anime.
I can't wait to see Ian sprint out of his front door in the morning late to the carbine class with a ballester-molina clenched between his teeth.

I wanted a K11 or a K31, but then I found a G1911 long rifle, and fell in love.

God dammit, I googled this to see if I could help, all I did was make myself laugh because other people had the same thoughts on the fore end.

I would be alright with a long rifle, but my poor shrimpy arms protest when i use my mosin without something to rest it on, they want something lighter.

Well I'd like one of each but can't seem to find it so easily here in Europe, So I might have to dosh up for the ridiculous shipping fees... :(
You'd think if the donkey dicks are for guns that are made in communist Europe then they should be easy to find there. That just sounds kinda dumb, having to try and order a donkey dick that was made in Romania from the US because you can't find it in Sweden.

Since I can't read russian, romanian or bulgarian I'm kinda fucked and most of the parts never show up or gets "lost" in the mail.
Found the Enfield No4 I bought with no bolt when I was 16. Just ordered a bolt for $55.
GUN AND MAGAZINE BANS.
Gun and magazine bans are a total failure. That’s been proven every time it’s been tried. Opponents of gun rights try to come up with scary sounding phrases like “assault weapons”, “military-style weapons” and “high capacity magazines” to confuse people. What they’re really talking about are popular semi-automatic rifles and standard magazines that are owned by tens of millions of Americans. Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice. The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own.

NATIONAL RIGHT TO CARRY.
The right of self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway. That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving – which is a privilege, not a right – then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege.
