Anyone here have a Tokarev TTC? How is it? I was looking at a Star Super B, but someone recommended me the TTC instead. They both seem pretty cool, From what I see, it comes down to ammo being half the cost and more common on the star, but no possibly feeding or stovepiping issues on the ttc.

TTC's are a little clunky by todays standards and 7.62 tok isn't as cheap as it used to be.

Don't bother, especially since ammo costs so much in the US for the Tok.
yeah, but on the other side, damn that accuracy and velocity look nice
Went to the range today, got some training in on the 92fs. There were these two fucking morons there, just blazing away at their target without a care in the world. They were hitting the side baffles and everything, treating the whole damn thing like it was a goddamn game. I wanted to fucking punch them.
What's wrong with just shooting in general if you're not there to be a target shooter. Ya know not everyone shoots at the range to "train" Sometimes it's fun to, you know, "Shoot at shit" Of course destroying property is one thing but if they're just lighting up some pallets, who cares how often they shoot or whatever, it's a shooting range you should be able to ignore the other shooters so long as they aren't presenting a danger to you or others.
yeah, but on the other side, damn that accuracy and velocity look nice
If you want velocity just get some +P+ 9mm with lighter bullets. Hell get the liberty defense 50gr and you'll be pushing close to 1800fps out of a 4" barrel
it's called a primer. a blasting cap is what they use to detonate explosives.
lol learned something. I also couldn't remember what they were called when I was posting last night.
i hope you were wearing eye protection? you should really check your firing pin depth too
Nope, but it was a wake up call. If the damned primer could explode and hit me in the lip, that's a few inches from my eyes... So yeah I'm gonna be wearing goggles/glasses now. What do you mean the firing pin depth? You mean how much it goes into the primer when I shoot?
yes, exactly. if it goes too much forward it may cause the primer to burst and allow hot gases to travel out of the back of the case, towards you. you seem like a very quick learner, which is a good thing in this hobby!
Well that explains the broken primer. Every time I fire this thing it seems like it "breaks in" a little more, functioning fine until another fucking case malfunction. I've heard it could be the coatings the casings are given melting a bit in the barrel and causing the casing to "glue" into the barrel getting stuck, but I've only heard this happening with Soviet surplus 7n6 ammunition. I personally can't explain why they keep getting stuck.

Still my bet would be on the metal of the barrel/chamber and not the ammo itself.
I really doubt it would be doing this in what I believe is a chrome lined barrel. I still dunno though.
Well jeez what else could it be, you've been keepin' em oiled I assume?
Well jeez what else could it be, you've been keepin' em oiled I assume?
Do you mean the ammunition itself, or the rifle? I'm confused here.
chrome still expands at roughly the same rate as steel when heated. it's quite a significant amount, the general rule of thumb is to expect a 1 inch piece of steel at 0 degrees to become a 1.001 inch at 100, 1.002 at 200, 1.003 at 300, 1.004 at 400, and so on until 2750 when it becomes a pool of steel. a chamber expanding usually isn't an issue though. I would bet on the headspace being fucked
Fuuuuck. And I felt like I got it on the money when I did my barrel. I dunno how I can possibly fix this other than invest in a hydraulic press and press the barrel a wee bit out, because what I'm working with I can't even nudge that barrel back out again unless I cut the trunnion out of the receiver. I also just remembered when the primer of the bullet that exploded in my rifle, it was initially a dud from the first mag I shot, I was trying it again alone in my rifle without a mag inserted. Could that have been a reason why the primer metal exploded?
Are you absolutely certain your firing pin protrusion is correct?
Are you absolutely certain your firing pin protrusion is correct?
What do you mean? I'm just getting all sorts of confused.
If your firing pin is sticking too far out of the bolt face, it will pierce the primer and cause nastiness. This can result in case-head separations among other problems like the ones you're describing. If this is an AK, you may have been expected to trim the firing pin after installation.
Oh shit. I honestly never heard about having to do this until you said something.
Oh shit. I honestly never heard about having to do this until you said something.
There is still a chance the headspace is off, I'd have it checked by a gun Smith or get yourself some go/no go gauges. With what you're experiencing worst case is it doesn't close on a go gauge and you have to hit it with a hand reamer.
You know I found super handy? Bore laser sights. You know, the little bullet shaped lasers that you chamber and you can use them to adjust your sights. They're amazing. Pop in the laser, adjust your scope and than you do some fine tuning with real ammunition and it saves you a ton of time and money.
Or you can do it the old fashioned way of taking the bolt out, putting the gun in a rest, lining the bore up to the target, and finally adjust the cross hairs onto the target. Fine tune from there.

Oh look, someone in Australia didn't abide by the gun control laws they enacted, big surprise. http://www.batemansbaypost.com.au/story/3339353/deceased-mans-20-guns-and-ammunition-mystery-weapons-haul-baffles-police/?cs=2452
That was painful to read. ‘‘These guns here are the upper level – they don’t come any more serious than this" The guy had an SKS, M1 Carbine, shotgun and a bunch of bolt-guns.
That was painful to read. ‘‘These guns here are the upper level – they don’t come any more serious than this" The guy had an SKS, a shotgun and a bunch of bolt-guns.
The only 2 I cared about in the article was the lever action rifle and the M1 carbine.
"Such rapid-fire weapons have long been prohibited in Australia under legislation introduced in the wake of the Port Arthur massacre." Rapid fire guns? Then again, didn't Australia want to ban lever guns because they were assault weapons?
That article is sensationalist as fuck. They're trying to make it sound like it was a miracle the 88 year old man died before he could go on a killing spree with his rifles and shotguns lmao. "The cache has intrigued police partly because the man had no criminal history. Also, his selection was wide and varied – seemingly at odds with a collector’s ways." ‘‘These guns here are the upper level – they don’t come any more serious than this,’’ "His [motives] are going to remain a mystery because he’s passed away.’’ "The prohibited weapons included a shortened firearm, a military-style SKS self-loading rifle, a MI30-calibre Carbine self-loading military rifle and a fully-loaded LR.22-calibre Ruger self-loading rifle." Buzzword count: 3 And finally a long emotional appeal piece reminding everyone of a tragedy that happened twenty years previously. If people elsewhere see shotguns and self loading rifles as a wide variety of upper level killing instruments no wonder they see Americans with 22lr semi auto "military style" rifles and think we're crazy.
Oh god not the dreaded LR.22 caliber self loading rifle!! How did he manage not to shoot himself or anyone esle?? Lol, you're funny Australia. We must seriously look demented to them.
Well, RIP all those firearms.
