I dunno how you feel about ordering a firearm and having it shipped to your FFL, but I've been eyeing the M&P 15 Sport myself. They have it for like, $550 on Grabagun.
Ill sell you one for 559 and throw in a mag haha. Jokes aside its not a bad deal, you just have to find yourself an FFL with a decent transfer price. My shop charges $29, which isn't the cheapest in town but its very fair especially compared to big box shops that want $50+
$50 for a transfer is pretty much a standard. One shop I go to goes for $25 on rifles, $35 on handguns so it's not bad. A local gunsmith does a $10-$15 transfer in my area, so it's not bad other than being in the middle of nowhere.

If my money clears I might go buy it tomorrow! Always wanted an AR but haven't pulled the *trigger* on one.

They can easily achieve the same result by having them crawl under barbed wire and firing automatic weapons on locked mounts over the wire. Maybe throw some pig guts on the course.
Going against buying an AK, again. I found a guy selling a Cherry's import Yugo SKS for $550. I'm gonna see if I can get that with some haggling.

You realize you can get a new WASR or Yugo AK for $550 and that $550 is overpriced for an SKS. These things are rocketing in value faster than a WASR. It's because those SKS's were unissued. Never fired, cosmo'd and shipped out to USA. Other than import marks, these guns are brand new. During the freak out, the price on a Cherry Yugo SKS jumped from $450 to $600. With the crappy Norinco Sks's at $450 now, the Cherry is a prime pick. Only other more valuable SKS is the Cerimonial Yugos (around $700) that AIM Surplus got and promptly sold out in an hour.
I feel like this is apples and oranges though. If you were looking at buying an AK, presumably you want to shoot it, right? I wouldn't shoot a rifle that's valuable (ie expensive) because it's unfired and unused, that sounds like a collector's piece.
I wouldnt consider any SKS a strictly collectors piece unless it was stamped out of pure silver and wielded by Stalin himself as he personally massacred a secret underground society of 1000 year old nazi vampires. They're nice guns and all, but an SKS is still an SKS. (relatively) cheap, common, and durable. [editline]15th October 2015[/editline] same thing with mosins

Even if the gun has been shot, as long as it does not have a lot of idiot scratches or corrosive ammo since being purchased, it doesn't lose it's value as much as the ceremonial SKS's that get used. Even well used AK's increase in value due to manufacture name or quality of it. Since this is an SKS not marked by Century, and not beat to hell like the Century SKS. The Yugo's from Century go for $450ish. I will not Bubba this rifle. It's too nice to ruin it like that.
or any really good condition surplus gun
A guy is offering an FNS9 for my G19. Is it a good trade?
A guy is offering an FNS9 for my G19. Is it a good trade?
It's a fair trade, depends if you like the FNS9 more than anything.
So on my C308 after my trigger job, I'm getting a lot of double firing with every trigger pull. What's even worse is that there are several times where I have to recharge the rifle manually because it doesn't properly reset. I'm going to have to talk with Bill about that. But any suggestions as to why this is happening?

You might want to do a drop test too because this sounds unsafe as hell. Cock the hammer, flip the safety on and then drop it on it's butt from waist height a few times (doing this on an empty gun naturally). It will probably have the hammer fall. A safe trigger group will not have this happen. You may need either a new hammer, a new sear, or both if it is this bad. This page talks about SKS triggers, but the same idea is there about how a trigger works. http://www.yooperj.com/SKS-25.htm
Thanks for the info. Bill said that he would take a look at it. I'm going on vacation soon so I won't be bummed if I don't have my trigger assembly for the next few weeks.

Usually those parts are only case hardened, so if he took a grinder to it even if it was functioning properly eventually it would fail. You only want to polish the contact points, if he's taking a file or dremel to it that's not the guy you want working on your parts.
I know he was recommended by others online. I'm just glad he's willing to fix it without charge. If this doesn't work out, I'll have to find someone else to do my gunsmithing.
i sanded it down with 400 and 1200 grit sandpaper and linseed oiled the wood and now it is a light glossy smooth texture it brought out the color
So I'm debating buying a Remington VersaMax Sportsman in black since I can get a deal at work that makes it probably half off. Thoughts on the gun?
I don't like any of them tbh. They're a bit overpriced imo. You can get a semi-auto shotgun for around that price. I would never pay nearly 800 dollars for a pump action, you can easily get a nice one for 200-300.
I have a Mossberg Defender 500 that I love. My perfect shotgun, I would have liked a 590, but I couldn't justify double the price for one round higher capacity and a sling mount basically. I think I paid $350 for it new.
I love my 590A1
