It won't happen. It's in the interests of both the gun grabbers and the domestic gun manufacturers to not allow imports.
the thing about domestic gun manufacturers is that they're gun nerds too. chances are the guys at ruger or remington or whatever probably want a g36 for themselves as well
Got this Savage Axis back on Christmas. It's chambered for .308, and it kicks like a mule on my small frame. It was a big jump from a .22 :v: Anybody a fan of generic hunting rifles? I see a lot of AR's and semi-autos on this thread but rarely your civilian bolt actions, unless its a Brit or Aussie posting

It's from the 1980s, so it's from the golden age of Ruger guns, in terms of accuracy. It's not sighted in properly atm, but I could shoot soda bottles all day long at 250-300m when it was. Too bad that .243 runs above $1 per shot, so I only take it out for very special occasions. I feel like a complete piece of shit because I let a light layer of surface rust appear on the barrel though.

Really compliments the quality of the picture of the gun
the thing about domestic gun manufacturers is that they're gun nerds too. chances are the guys at ruger or remington or whatever probably want a g36 for themselves as well
They might be, but their company is owned by shareholders and the board must act in their best interest.
Aparrently 'target shooting' is a valid reason to own a rifle, so I'll need to join a club. I can't even think of five weapons I'd want to own that are legal over here. I'd be happy with just a K31, an M44, or both.
Sup man, target shooting club membership can be mad expensive each year and their locations might be pretty far away (unless your lucky and it's pretty close) Getting a deer stalking license is much easier, all you need is to know someone with land to grant you access. If you live in the countryside its pretty damn easy to get. Check out the BASC website. In the Republic it's much the same.
I think basically all rimfire weapons are considered basically to have a sporting purpose. I was saying the standard 5.56 G36 can't be imported because it has no sporting purpose. It is why so many companies choose to construct firearms domestically in the US. While it pleases me that we have a manufacturing market that is so well protected legally, I imagine it would also be served by simply taxing imported firearms so as to level the playing field. You might wind up paying 2 grand for a G36, but at least you could get one.
Germany also won't export the G36 because they don't feel it has a sporting purpose either. We can't get them here either, and we don't have dumb import laws.
Germany has some dumb logic for guns. Theve built HK factories here to shit out millions of pistols but even the thought of a unnuttered G36, UMP etc. terrifies them which I can never understand. You've all ready got your factories here, legally there's nothing stopping you, why aren't you doing it? You clearly love money, we ALL know this.
I think about this quite often in the shower. The ATF is entirely duplicitous. Their background check is run through an FBI system, the FBI also investigates the use of firearms and explosives in crimes. Alcohol and tobacco should be regulated by the FDA for legal stuff and DEA for illegal. They're slow as hell, the very example of an inefficient government bureaucracy. They are limited to 2500 personnel in the US, but haven't even managed to fill their ranks to that number. If I were President, I would dismantle them and pass the responsibilities on to the above mentioned agencies. And I'd remove the sporting clause bullshit.
Basically this: [editline]9th February 2015[/editline]
I think basically all rimfire weapons are considered basically to have a sporting purpose. You might wind up paying 2 grand for a G36, but at least you could get one.
Do you think that the cost of imported firearms doesn't already include import tarrifs, among the costs of getting them to the US and dealing with regulations? $2K for a G36? Are you actually kidding right now? The HK 243/293 SAR that was planned for import started at $2500. Even if they still imported SL8s in sporting config, it costs about $4500 for the rifle, conversion parts and conversion work. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/05/15/yourself-hk-g36-rifle/ H&K would lose money importing G36s to the US, they are too expensive for most US gun owners, which would price them out of the competitive market. They don't have aftermarket parts support either, so again, compared to similarly priced ARs and other rifles, they lose. Which pretty much leaves you with the fanboys, who already buy overpriced H&K MP5 pistols at $1800 a pop and drop even more $$$ on their conversion to an SBR.
I want a full size big bore handgun for CC. Witness Hunter in 10mm? I liked the .45 one I handled at the gun store but you get 4 more rounds in 10mm.

Or a G20, since you get 15rds of 10mm in a mag.
I'm a fudd and despise glocks, no convoluted excuses here [editline]9th February 2015[/editline] There's a Witness Hunter in .460 for $1550 though

Looks like feral hogs might become a problem in Ontario. http://wildboarcanada.ca/#sthash.k3vyb2zY.dpbs There have been a recent increase in sightings since a bunch of them escaped a farm in late 2013 and in september 2014 the ministry of natural resources issued a kill on sight letter. I've seen a dozen wild turkeys in my front yard before and six wild deer next door two weeks ago, it's only a matter of time....
Grenadiac are you fending off 6'8 body builders or something

I think .460 rowland is mostly for hand loaders. [editline]9th February 2015[/editline]
Grenadiac are you fending off 6'8 body builders or something
10mm (at spec loads, not the shitty loads most seem to field) and .460 rowland are good bear defense cartridges. One is unlikely to stop a brown bear, but a magazine has a decent chance.

I really don't think that bears are analyzing whether or not you are carrying
That may be so, but I don't think that CC is necessary or practical for bear defense. I really don't think that bears are analyzing whether or not you are carrying
I don't know about others, but I never carry open. Even in parks.
That may be so, but I don't think that CC is necessary or practical for bear defense. I really don't think that bears are analyzing whether or not you are carrying
I live in a pretty rural area and while I've never encountered a bear I have encountered drug addicts and other aggressive woodland creatures, so I'd like to carry the most punchy thing I can legally hide in my coat. Right now I'm between a .45 and a 10mm, .460 was kind of a joke though my local gun store does sell it.
Generally my family relies on quite a lot of different guns when hunting. I carry my 1911 when it's not raining, my Dad carries his .40 Ruger, and Pap carries his .45 Ruger. Really, the big thing is finding something you like to carry in that situation that you can comfortably carry on your hip and under a jacket.
I have a question, and if anyone here could answer it soonish that would be swell: What kind of gun would your average bodyguard carry?
I have a question, and if anyone here could answer it soonish that would be swell: What kind of gun would your average bodyguard carry?
Like, secret service or somebody you'd hire? Normally, Id say a compact or full frame pistol. [editline]10th February 2015[/editline] But you might get a PDW or even full size rifle here and there for some government guys
Somebody you'd hire. For a high-profile businessman or something.
I work in a small company which provides custody and transport for some people. Plus my father has friends in DOGO, a mayor player in the security business here in Argentina. Almost everybody carries a GLOCK 19
I have a question, and if anyone here could answer it soonish that would be swell: What kind of gun would your average bodyguard carry?
I've got an uncle who used to work for Paragon, he carried his personal glock 22
I was thinking a glock, yeah. Thanks guys.
G4S Security carries S&W M&P series pistols, but they're more about money transfer than personal protection.
G4S Security carries S&W M&P series pistols, but they're more about money transfer than personal protection.
Honestly, these days...I would just buy a FNX .45 or a CZ .40, with a 4 inches o 2 inches .357 magnum for backup If only I had the money (and the contacts to get those weps)
