You can't buy a pistol from a federal dealer until you're 21 by federal law but individual states like Texas may let you purchase them privately from 18. e: rate me late
My bad, I didn't even know that. I always assumed it was 21. Disregard what I said then.
Well, I'd probably be doing more recreational shooting for now since hunting season isn't too long anyways. As I said though, the seemingly only range near me only allows rifles chambered in pistol calibers, so I think I may be better off just getting something like the CZ 455 now and then going from there.
Good choice. Do a little more research on the guns you want and that will help you out when you go to purchase one. Good luck.
Do you have an K31? That's the only gun I know about that uses 7.5x55
Nope, I have the older G11.
What do you guys think of the angled Foregrips? I've never used one personally, but generally naturally hold ARs with full length rails Costa style without training or thought. Does it seem to help, or is it just wasting $30?
AFGs are much more practical than vert grips, you can do the costa grip, or you can just grip the AFG itself by sticking your pinky and ring fingers through the open part (as I do). If you take a carbine course or even a practical carbine competition, you'll start to see where it comes in handy (haha, pun intended). When I ran the same course with my AK, the lack of it was very apparent and it was more difficult to position the rifle the way I wanted to. You may think that you'll never do a costa c grip, but if you start running around and having to acquire targets at short range, you'll probably do it naturally because it affords greater control over the muzzle. You will also really start to appreciate a stippled grip over one that isnt, because let me tell you, smooth plastic grips with smooth bumps or ridges even with gloves don't cut it when you're constantly manipulating the weapon for reloads. Your hand, wrist, and forearm get very tired from squeezing the heck out of the grip so the gun doesn't slip in your hand. [editline]17th February 2015[/editline]
I picked up an FNX .45 tactical a week ago. I remain amazed by this thing. While it is large volume-wise, it isn't heavy. Aside from the texture on the grips being a little rough on the hands, I have zero complaints. This thing is perfect across the board.
I am so jealous right now. Are you getting an RMR and/or suppressor for it?
So, I was looking at the "Things guns grabbers say" thread on /k/ and having a laugh. Then I noticed where the screen grab came from and the name associated with it; it was my dad. That's embarrassing and what he said was horribly cringeworthy.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/LqJZlzn.jpg[/t] Mine as of now! $900, came with a repro stock/holster meant for a Bolo. I'm gonna pull the hardware off the Bolo stock and have a proper stock made for it. It's a little sticky but all the parts are numbered to it and I think it just needs to be lubricated, the rifling is very crisp and I can't wait to lose an eye to this thing when the bolt stop fails and the bolt launches out of the frame

Take him shooting.
Well, the reproduction stock is now stuck to the frame. It was a bit tight going on but after shooting it won't come off at all. Any ideas? I was thinking about stripping it down to just the lower and putting it in the freezer to see if it'll loosen up. Otherwise it shoots fine, I'm gonna replace the springs with a set from Wolff because it's feeling a little weak and sometimes needs help closing the bolt on the first round. e: Got the stock off. I unscrewed the iron from the wood, rubber banded the release latch open, and carefully tapped it off on the edge of an ammo can.
Went to a gun show about a month ago, my dad got his CHL pistol, Springfield XD-S in .45 with the 3.3" barrel. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/JHAoUP6.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/u4255E7.jpg[/img_thumb] Also got a sling for my Maadi, now it's extra pretty [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/2IItUUT.jpg[/img_thumb] I have my 92FS too, but I can't find any pictures of it :(
Took my M&P 9 to my gunsmith to get my apex FSS trigger installed. I hope they live up to the hype. The standard trigger is garbage.
So, M1A, or something AR-15?
AR-15's are dime a dozen. M1a is at least something interesting.
AR-15's are dime a dozen. M1a is at least something interesting.
Yeah. Is it okay for hunting? Probably not the best, but can it work?
Yeah. Is it okay for hunting? Probably not the best, but can it work?
M1A would be fine for hunting, if you don't mind it getting banged up in the woods.
Yeah. Is it okay for hunting? Probably not the best, but can it work?
It can work. A .30 caliber round will allow for more hunting options than .22 [editline]18th February 2015[/editline] I'd prefer a SOCOM 16 to a full size M1A, though.
Yeah. Is it okay for hunting? Probably not the best, but can it work?
It's a .308 rifle so it can kill just about any game you encounter in North America's game. Whether or not it is legal to use is another issue.
Was that the OP screen shot? Take him shooting.
Yes. He has a gun license and thinks Australia's laws are good where they are. Taking him shooting won't change that. Last night my brother and I had an argument with him over dinner. He thinks that making it illegal in the US to use a firearm to protect yourself will save lives.

I've had a couple, I know. If you don't reload, a PTR is going to run you less than an M1A standard, and the mags are cheaper, $5 instead of $25-40 depending on where you look. PTRs also come with a scope rail.
Woke up with blisters on my thumbs from the Mauser's grooved hammer and safety. It also gouged the side of my thumb while I was disassembling it and the hammer bruised my hand where I was holding it too high. :v: A man's gun.
damn nice lookin maadi
Thank you, it's my baby. I bought a side rail for it so I could attach a rail and maybe a red dot or sorts, but I think it would ruin the look, so they are just sitting around (I never bought a red dot though). If I can, I want to put the slanted muzzle break on the end too. I ended up getting it in, but only after it slid out of the mag well once and gauged my hand on the pistol grip, it bled for a good while. AKs are also a man's gun.
When re-assembling my SVT I managed to close the action on my thumb.
I dropped my mosin on my foot once...
I dropped a Mosin on my foot once. Barrel down. With the bayonet mounted.
I burned the manufacturer's stamp on my Mosin into my thumb for 3 days after touching the reciever in 100 degree weather after firing. :v:
I got slide bite once, it broke the first layer of skin. :v: [editline]19th February 2015[/editline] But nah for real injuries though, I went on a scout campout and none of the boys wanted to shoot shotguns so I was skeet shooting with some older folks all day, with Maverick 88 woodstocks. All in 12 gauge and I went through at least 15 boxes of shells. My shoulder was purple for a week.
I pinched my tit in the action of an SKS one time. Wasn't pleasant. :v:
I got hit by a .22lr ricochet once but have never injured myself with the action of a gun because I've still got a few brain cells left
