Me and my Dad want to get into shooting, any Aussies out there for tips on starting guns and that? This is for a pistol range.
What exactly do you want to know?
There is such a quality difference in a gun that was handmade, fitted, and calibrated by an expert smith. This C96 has absolutely zero play in any of its parts, it's amazing.
c96s were mass produced in factories. my ar15 was made with all computerized machines and there's zero play in anything. even my stock and foregrip (magpul STE and MOE carbine) are completely solid
I did hand pick a lot of the parts so that makes a difference but it's not like handmade is somehow automatically better than cnc
my 1943 gewehr 98 also has zero play even though some fudd decided to put a sporter stock on it and cut off the front and rear sight bases before I got a hold of it
I wonder, any of ya'll near Jacksonville, FL?
I'm in Biloxi, MS. as of about 2 years ago I'm about the closest to Jacksonville. unless someone new has come around (which is honestly pretty likely) the answer is no

Does Jacksonville, NC count? :)

Trunk Monkay is in Tallahassee I believe. I also live there.

I'm stationed here in J-Vegas.

This one is from the early 10s, at this time they were made one by one by machinists and all the parts were fitted by hand. It's the same for your 98.
My AR-15 has a bit of play, specifically the stock and the charging handle. My 1911's slide can move a little from side to side and the trigger pitches vertically slightly.
Higher pricetag guns today still get function-tested and parts are fitted by smiths.

Nice. I'm with V22. Who are you stationed with?
On topic, my trip to the gun show was a complete bust. Found a couple of things that caught my eye but didn't find exactly what I wanted.
I'm going to be applying for my CCW Permit here in the next week or so. Afterwards, to celebrate when it arrives in the mail I'm going to buy a Sig Sauer P226.
Hey, quick question for anyone who might know.
I put some of those stock rubber grips onto my Smith and Wesson 686, and left it there for about three weeks. After deciding I liked the other wood grips more, I swapped them out. However, I noticed small black spots of oxidization from the rubber grips. Maybe the size of a tip of a pen.
I've got fucking OCD about this stuff. Would Flitz polish paste fix this? Internet guy said "bead blasting" but that seems way overkill.
I'm probably gonna order it in the next few hours.
Start with something easy like steel wool.
With or without some solvent-type stuff?
3 people, 4 cases of shells. The ground turned blue once we got done shooting.
The trap machine had to be reloaded 3 separate times. :v:
[sp]When some one yells "PENIS" instead of pull everything from then on out is a miss.[/sp]
So went to the range today, brother was messing around with his new phone and took some videos.

He also messed around with the slow motion and achieved this.

So you're Eugene now?
Rest in peace, Umenat.
What a flash from the past this is, Umenat
Excitedly awaiting the fingerless gloves and fake AK pics.
Don't forget the bored out Baikal!
Left CLP on my 686 overnight and scrubbed it to death this morning. Nothing, still there.
Guess I'm going to have to go the steel wool route

The fingerless suicide bandit returns, y'all!
Is everyone's (least) favourite deactivated wannabe-KGB back? Excellent!

I'm a machine gunner with 1/6. And the gun shows around here are very hit or miss, only thing I've ever bought was a few bricks of 22lr ammo for $30 bucks a pop.
