It sounds like a Turkish Mauser. I think what you're looking at is Arabic script and the crescent.

Crescent? Does it look anything like this? What you may have is a butchered Turk mauser, if thats the cause. Look on the receiver, there should be a year somewhere on it under the cartouche, if there is one.
Maybe I shouldn't have used the word crescent, but it's the closest word I could think of. It's not actually a crescent symbol, it's like a curved shape at an irregular angle, like a (. Probably part of a larger letter or symbol that was either ground away and/or painted over. There aren't any other markings but the ones I mentioned.
i dont know if i want a 4th gen glock 19 or just get a gen 3 with grip reduction does the switchout straps on the 4th gen make a difference? im asking because whoever designed the grip of the glock obviously had retard gorilla hands
The Gen 4 G19 with the smallest backstrap is as small as a standard G19, the other backstraps just go over the frame. Grip is still shaped like a 2x4, so it doesn't really matter; I have gorilla hands and the 9/40 cal Glocks all feel plenty comfortable to me, just add Hogue slip on grips for palm swells. Why not go with a more ergonomic striker fired 9mm, like a Steyr, Walther, HK, etc?
The thing has no recoil so it's pretty easy to stay on target. I just got my tax return so I'm about to send it in to K&M to get it fixed. I'm back from my mandatory vacation with some stories and acquisitions. Me and Nuke went to a shitty gunshow in PC and walked around for about 2 hours and saw mostly fuck all. He was going to buy an awesome condition K98, but wanted to see if he could sell his Yugo Mauser first, and then some teenager and his mom came through and bought it. He missed it by like 2 minutes and some kid's mom bought it for him. Whole situation fuckin sucked. I spotted a 1912 Austrian Steyr Mauser re-chambered to 7.62 NATO in the 60's. I fondle it and glance down the bore and see the crowning and rifling is good. Only thing it's missing is a cleaning rod. The guy was peddling it as being a Israeli Mauser but it had it was pretty clearly a Steyr and had no Israeli marks on it. I went ahead and pick it up so Nuke and I leave. We get outside and I pop the zip tie off and rack the bolt and a loaded fuckin round pops out of the gun with 2 more in the magazine. So, not 5 minutes earlier I had my eye poking down the barrel of a loaded gun. Awesome. This motherfucker brought in a loaded rifle to a gunshow. He wasn't a viewer or anything, he was an actual vender with a table. If you're ever in the Florida Panhandle, he's the asshole who sells the snake-oil gun lube that will magically waterproof anything. He's always got a fish tank filled with water with a light bulb and drill running inside of it. Right after I pop the bolt back some redneck in his cousinfucker barrels through a puddle and splashes me and Nuke with some lovely Florida bog water. At this point we were just so pissed off we went home. I called the Sheriffs department later and reported the ass hole but I doubt anything will happen to him. So I get home and start taking apart the rifle and then I get to the dipshits ammo. They must have been his personal reloads because they were beyond fucked. There were 3 rounds in the gun, 1 wasn't crimped at all and the bullet fell right out, it was also overloaded as fucked, and the other 2 had cracked necks. Photo of the ammo and my filthy desk. Heres a photo of the actual Mauser. I'm going to order a Brass Stacker scout mount for it and make it a nice pseudo-DMR. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ldaJW6e.jpg[/t]
with reloads like that you might want to have a gunsmitch check it out. it's probably fine but I wouldn't want it to go bad
Can you post a free-form interpretive drawing? That oughta clear this mess up.
Yeah I made a shitty drawing to try to clear it up, doubt it'll help much but I tried to copy the indents the best I could. As I was doing it, I noticed that among the smudging was what looked like a "7", so I added it in as well. I gave up trying to recreate the smudge next to it, it's not important. The area represented is the piece connected to the rear sight, which would be above the "R", and below that is the rest of the receiver.

But that is all I've got.
I ordered grip panels from them a couple weeks after Sandy Hook. Took a while to order them, because the website was on the verge of going down constantly. Took a few weeks for the order to ship.
Has anyone else ordered recently from them? (Glockstore.com)
Try comparing the serial number on this site. http://mauser98k.internetdsl.pl/kodyen.html
Try comparing the serial number on this site. http://mauser98k.internetdsl.pl/kodyen.html
No dice, M8810 (or just 8810) isn't on it, unless I'm not doing it right. But that is all I've got.
I doubt it's Israeli, I don't want to write it off so quickly but looking at some Israeli Kar's, all their stamps are 'above' the chamber, rather than 'below' the rear sight. The only evidence of a marking on that section is a very small hook-like indent, like the top of a 2, or 3, or etc. This would be way easier if the markings weren't mostly removed... I'm trying to fathom what that marking could even be, half or more of it being absent doesn't help. It's either a partial mark or even 2 overlapping stamps. I did find a picture of a very similar butt stock though, it's the first one I've come across that matches mine: One side bare, other side metal thing?
I'm just amazed someone in America has NO access to a camera Like you have guns and a computer but not a phone or any camera?
I'm just amazed someone in America has NO access to a camera Like you have guns and a computer but not a phone or any camera?
I keep my camera attached to my gun for variable zoom. But, it can't take a picture of itself.
I have a film camera somewhere :v:
There should probably be more bluing on this...
If you're looking at CZs, why not a P-07? Great value for the money.
I want to handle one before making the plunge on one of those. But they are hard to come across where I live.
You mean Gen 3?
Yes, my mistake. The Gen 4 has that adjustable backstrap system and a few other things.
Bred, who is that in your avatar? Looks like Chloe Bennett?
So, I was checking out my '43 Mosin Nagant and I've noticed some things. One of the barrel bands is from Tula, has a small star on it, although my rifle is an Izhevsk. Another thing, the stock is a pre-war style and has no refurb marks. Anyone else have anything similar?
Sounds like your gun just had random parts thrown it to replace missing/broken ones.

Ahh, well that explains it then. Thank you.
Sounds like you have a run-of-the-mill refurb 91/30.
Ahh, I had just wondered since I hadn't seen the refurb marking on the stock. Then again, knowing the Soviets, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

A guy could have had a sporter nugget that he restored back to original-ish condition with parts bought online
