New pistol acquired! Will post pics tomorrow.
he's saying ar500 defeated .303, not defeated by .303
ah gotcha
So, FFL's just got an email from the ATF with a revised manual, and in it:
[new ATF 5300.4 manual / KTW AMMUNITION all calibers. Identified by a green coating on the projectile. Exemptions: The following articles are exempted from the definition of armor piercing ammunition. 5.56 mm (.233) SS 109 and M855 Ammunition , identified by a green coating on the projectile tip.
So I guess BATFE no longer has any interest in banning M855 and SS109 as being AP ammo. Whether or not Obama is going to pass an EO to get rid of it is another story though.
My shoulder holster came in today; which was bizarre because the USPS delivered in on a Sunday--which is apparently because Amazon has a contract with the USPS.
Busy weekend. First, got my M&P 9 fitted with an apex trigger. It is an excellent trigger, and is worth every bit I spent on it. It practically makes it a whole new gun. The stock trigger is garbage. [t]http://imgur.com/wOk7hBe.jpg[/t] Next, I picked up the PPK/S I had on layaway. Beautiful guns. [t]http://imgur.com/V5wvYb0.jpg[/t] Then I went down the street to pick up my other honey, a Remington model 11 in astounding condition. Made in 1937. [t]http://imgur.com/wUVaK9k.jpg[/t] Tax returns are awesome.
IMO there's just something special about Walther pistols. I have never gotten to shoot one, but I have heard good things about them, especially their newer models.
I'm stuck in NC but back home in Upstate NY they're having an incredible auction. I'd give my left nut for half of these guns. http://www.hessegalleries.com/auctions/unreserved-firearms-auction/

Again, the issue here is still with Obama wanting to pass an EO to get rid of the stuff. The jackass has absolutely no respect for the constitution and doesn't mind doing things not-so-legally.

There are no signs he is moving to issue an executive order.

I fucked up. I was cleaning my Marlin 795(first time i had it out in at least 6 years) and i forgot that gun solvent is really fucking bad for plastic. I sprayed my trigger section without thinking and it started turning to putty. I thought initially that the black stuff on my fingers was carbon, but it hardened and i realized that I was dissolving the trigger section. Luckily, I only sprayed a little, which gummed the trigger up a little. On the plus side, if it ever gets stolen and the cops find it, they can check the inside of the trigger section for my finger prints that were left in the plastic. Also does anyone know of a way that i can make the trigger less fuckhard to pull? I was straining my finger to pull it earlier.

Just learned in Florida if you're military and under 21, you can get a concealed carry. I've lived here almost my whole life, how the fuck did I not know this. Getting mine next week, guess I'll start carrying my CZ75. But I've never given much thought to a carry gun, maybe a P-07/01 or a P229. Let me know how that P-07 is!
I'm gonna CC my C96. I like to live dangerously Update: Can't conceal the C96, it's thin enough that it doesn't print on my jacket but the muzzle sticks out from the bottom and there's no way to draw it in a timely fashion since it's so high up.
Why couldn't people have been this vocal about bullshit ammo bans last year? You know when 7n6 got banned...
Why couldn't people have been this vocal about bullshit ammo bans last year? You know when 7n6 got banned...
it never got formally banned, the ATF is just sitting on the form 6s. not much we can do but ask them politely to fill them out
[t]http://www.hessegalleries.com/files/2314/2307/0646/043.JPG[/t] what the fuck is this shit? from that auction page..
New York legal AR. [editline]9th March 2015[/editline] If you wanna see some sad shit, go on gunbroker and search "New York legal"
New York legal AR. [editline]9th March 2015[/editline] If you wanna see some sad shit, go on gunbroker and search "New York legal"
banning pistol grips (and every other part of the AWB but that especially) is the most retarded shit i've ever seen
Why couldn't people have been this vocal about bullshit ammo bans last year? You know when 7n6 got banned...
Because it's made by communists, not glorious freedom-loving Americans.
If you put in some effort you can fix up a Type 53 to look just as nice as the majority of your M44s, I'd understand if you wanted a Russian made one for the historic value but saying the two are far apart in manufactured quality is just not true. Honestly I feel the reason most people have a bias against the gun is their own personal prejudices towards anything Chinese made. If you want to spend 100 extra dollars for some Russian hallmarks that's your prerogative but it seems wasteful to me.
Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm not inherently against Chinese guns. I am very happy with my Chinese-made 1887 shotgun despite the elbow grease it took to get working smoothly. They're rough, but solid once cleaned up and polished, which is fine when you're not paying four digits. But like I've said, I've never seen a Type 53 in good condition, although I'm sure they exist, but then they wouldn't be $100-150. I'm normally the guy that buys the cheap option and works on it until it does what I need it to, but with Mosins the price gap between a rusted-out Type 53 and a good condition M44 is not enough to be worth the time and effort the way it might be between a $500-600 AK and a $1200+ one. On another note, anyone know a good way to drift CZ-75 sights? I figured a punch and mallet would do the trick but that doesn't seem like something I can do at the indoor range, nor with any real precision.
The ATF says it was a typo, they didn't mean to suggest they were going to ban M855. Forgive the source, it's the first one I saw. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/03/09/atf-does-about-face-on-ammo-ban-calls-it-publishing-mistake/

Their original statement about the ban even said they were going to ban it regardless, they just wanted input on how to make the transition easier.
Actually, it turns out it's 2015 now, but that report was referring to the 2014 manual.
Actually, it turns out it's 2015 now, but that report was referring to the 2014 manual.
Honestly, I don't put much faith in the ATF, so regardless of what the manual says now, it doesn't mean they won't ban it anyway. This is the same ATF who reverses their decisions overnight afterall; because hey, when you make policy and law, why the hell not?!
If you ever thing the ATF is a intelligent bureau with integrity, read these 2 letters:
