Could a bolt-handle be hinged to clear a scope? I guess you might lose some leverage on the bolt.
anyone have any experience with the Steyr M9? I'm becoming really interested with Steyr's 3 gun offerings to the US
I have the L9-A1, it has low recoil for a 9mm, holds 17+1, feels nice, has a high grip, the sights are different, but they work great for quick target acquisition.
If you have the chance, buy it. It's a great pistol. Take down is easy, it's just a nice gun. Parts are scarce though, a magazine will cost you $40~ and there aren't a great deal of after-market mods, but you really don't need to modify anything on it.
10 minutes of dremel wonders and now it won't touch the scope unless I deliberately make it. Since replacement handles are what, 30 bucks? I'll just say fuck it and get a new one to have modified by an actual pro (so it gets an even grind, nice angles and a bluing job). Tomorrow will be the first trip to the range with it, gonna be fun.
Congratulations Prusse, you've become an American Bubba. :V
yeah I had to do the same on my mauser. it just took a few thousandths of an inch to clear the scope. took more like 4 minutes, but I used a milling machine
whoever had it before me put the scope mounts in and removed the original sights and put it in a sporter stock so I wasn't too hurt about doing that
I don't know, I just find it funny that the US military commands foreigners in their own ranks, wouldn't that present security issues like, if you have russian KGB agents joining or chinese hackers?
Ahh I see after a little reading you must first have a green card and a US address to join. That makes sense then.
Well, some habits die hard, and we totally won freedom thanks to the French and Germans saying 'Fuck you, Britain' and joining our ranks to help. Though we're hardly the only nation that allows some select foreigners to assist. Besides, America's hat is almost as good as America, in the army's eyes.
I finally put the order in for all the things I already own for my AR-15 but in a different color because i'm a vapid lunatic and Daniel Defense didn't ship its rifles with FDE furniture.
Got my Texas Weapon Systems dog leg yesterday. The rear sight has slop in all 4 directions, wtf? The margins must be bigger in Texas, too...

Rob Ski did a review of those things and they broke it by dropping it a couple times. It's a shame because I really like the idea of hinged dust covers but I don't know of any 100% reliable examples.

It is aluminum, and per the creator of the TWS, the "arm" that broke is an expendable part and designed that way on purpose.
The Zenit topcover system is reliable, but it's 200% more expensive for the system.
Or you can get the $300 krebs sight rail, but it only works on standard AKs, no folding stocks, not on chinese, yugo AKs however.

What do you mean? did you slide it to the rear of the slot and tighten it down?
Guys, I really need a life. In all seriousness, I decided to color fill some things on the slide of my C9. Used a green crayon, too lazy to break out my testors paint, and figured this can be removed much easier. Also, yes, I have Zebra print sheets. Aren't they just fabulous?

I'm literally just having fun at this point. This is what YouTube does to me.

Yeah, cross screw is cranked down tight. The sight still has back and forth and side to side movement in it.

Any thoughts on the Sig SP2022 as a beginner's handgun? I've been looking into it and it seems like a decent choice. Anyone have experience with it?

An excellent choice. Sigs are wonderful guns and the sig PRO series (which includes the 2022) is pretty good. I do prefer the 226 or the 229 (full disclosure: I have a 229, which I like a lot.) for their manual safeties, but really that is just preference.
In my experience I rarely encounter people who would identify sig pistols as their favorite pistols of all time, but I also basically never encounter anyone who dislikes them. They are pretty much universally liked.

Wait they lightened the slide? Uhh..the slide is heavy on those because it uses a weird action and needs the weight in order to cycle properly. I wonder how many stoppages they got.
A lightened slide wouldn't cause stoppages, it just means it would recoil rearwards more violently potentially causing damage to the frame and slide as it stops hard. The lightening might have been counteracted by the added weight of the red dot however.

226 manual safety? What? My 226 has no safety, just a decocker.
StrykerE get a glock
one of us, one of us, one of us
The Supreme Court today killed what little was left of the gun registry, ruling that Quebec has no right to the data. It only took 3 years, but now it's finally dead.

The 229 is the same way. It's the same gun, just a shorter barrel and grip.

Sorry mixing up my fnx and my 229!
Hey guys I am thinking about adding an HK Pistol to my collection, any thoughts on the USP Expert line?
I hate their lever-like mag releases and don't really have any need for their glove-oriented trigger guards. Other than that, HKs are pretty awesome pistols and the USPs are probably top-tier of what they have.
I just personally can't get over the mag release and how awkward it is when I come from shooting a typical push-button style RHO model.

I think it really comes down to the length of your thumb. I have had no problems with the mag release on HK's sidearms because I have longer fingers in general. I actually prefer them over a lot of other mag releases
I don't generally use my thumb. I use my left index finger since I'm a lefty. And because of that, pushing away or straight down is just awkward when you're used to pushing straight in on a button style. It's the one feature I hate about my Dad's P94 that prevents me from getting an older P-series Ruger.

Well, I am kind of used to weird mag releases.
Our pocket .380 has the same release. But we don't shoot it hardly at all.
I pinch with my thumb and index or middle finger on the HK style releases. If I just used one finger or thumb on it, it felt a little stiff, but using both felt very positive and smooth on my P2000.
I like the extended lever release on the P99 because you can just use your trigger finger. It's fun to sometimes just release and re-insert the mag from the P99 over and over.
Just listen to InfinitePistolMoney explain it.
