$750 is on the very low end, but you know how used it is, so that's up to you; IMO, you could probably ask more if you push it as "banned", especially on GB.
Here is a comparison of what new ones are going for:
http://www.slickguns.com/search/apachesolr_search/saiga 12?op=
As for the PTR, get one of these, I love them on my AKs:
http://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/MANTICORE-NIGHTBRAKE-FOR-HK-WITH-RETAINER-SPRING-U-S-MADE-2p3509.htm
And as for mags, if you want a metric shite tonne, check this out; 104 beater mags for $150
http://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/HK91-G3-104-MAG-BEATER-PACK-24p2030.htm
I'm basing it on how many bids GB is getting. The ones trying price gouge right out the gate are not getting shit for bids. I could up the buy now price to like $850 though. Problem is I am competing with other auctions with 8 round mags or conversions for $1.2k. The biggest issue is I can only get checks or Paypal for payment, and bidders expect a cheaper price because of that and thats not counting the shipping.

How are Saiga 12's? Do they cycle most loads reliably?
I've never actually looked into them, but they seem like an interesting addition to a collection.

no better or worse than any other semi auto

Watch this first if you haven't already:

They were designed for hunting and military loads. Not plinking stuff. It will run buck shot, turkey, water fowl, and slugs just fine. You run into problems with target loads for trap and skeet. The gun is front heavy in the imported configuration. The trigger is not bad considering the linkage used. It's not comparable to a Wingmaster, but it's better than my Mossberg.
Loading a fully loaded mag on a closed bolt is hard, but it can be done. You need to approach the mag well with a lower angle than with a typical AK reload and push up hard. Locking the bolt open makes reloading the mag easier. The bolt can be locked open with one hand. You take the your right thumb and pull back on the charging handle. While holding it back, you take you index or middle finger to press the bolt hold open, and release the bolt.
Take down is just like an AK, but the tab has an extra pin to prevent the dust cover from coming off during recoil. The bolt comes apart just like the AK. Twisting off the gas setting knob gives access to the puck and gas tube to clean.
If you want more detailed or nuanced information, check out the Saiga 12 forums.
They are fun shotguns just hampered by importation restrictions and other BS.

Sounds like other variants may be a better choice then. Thanks!

As long as you can control yourself, you won't overspend. There's many expensive hobbies
has anyone tried a pk-01 on picatinny rails with a magnifier yet?
im curious myself and want to dress up my ak
The PK-01 is too heavy and has too small of a field of view, IMO. I ditched it and will be putting either a PA microdot or Vortex Sparc on my railed dustcover.

Get a Rakurs and add magnifier, then we're talking.
Rakurs is a true 1x, has a tritium lit german post/chevron reticle and is bomb proof.

Yeah....I know for a fact that if I had gotten my license by now I would be in some massive debt instead of having saved up over a grand so far.
I would have went out and bought an SKS along with a shotgun, .22, bolt action .30-06 and maybe a type 97 FTU not to mention a reloading bench, and I would be working the entire summer just to pay it off.
I hear about stories like that all the time on Canadian gun forums.
There's a bill going through the NH Legislature that will make concealed carry without a permit legal within the state.
I'm slightly indifferent about it; It only costs $50 and recommendations from three others in order to get a permit, and I don't currently have any guns that I can easily conceal.
sounds like they're using common sense
someone must've said 'well he legally bought a handgun, if we cant trust him to conceal carry it then why the fuck did we let him buy a gun in the first place?'
just sayin
I think I would be quite hypocritical when it comes to something like concealed carry (that is if it was legal here).
If it was legal, I could see myself doing it. But I wouldn't feel safe knowing that other people that were less competent with handling of firearms could do it as well. I know I have been living in a dirty socialist nation for my entire life, but I feel like some sort of test and resulting license, would be a good idea. Just like a driving license.
On the other hand there are plenty of sensible men and women at my gun club, and most of them are more skilled with firearms than many police officers ever will be.
If CCW was legal here in Australia I think I would get my permit but I would rarely carry. Australia is pretty safe and I live in a very safe area. I would probably only carry if I had to spend time somewhere unpleasant or get it just to save myself any legal hassle for carrying while hunting.

I've got myself a very well paying job for my age and qualifications (AUS$25/h, 3 days per week, 9-5) and I'm going to buy myself a new rifle. What should I get? I can't decide between an SMLE or a Marlin lever in .45/70
[editline]15th April 2015[/editline]
The SMLE would be far cheaper.
Even if concealed weren't legal where I live, I still wouldn't be carrying a firearm openly in public places. I think that people that do that are just trying to attract attention.

I loved my SMLE, but .303 was expensive here. I found it more fun to shoot and handle than my friend's .45-70. I don't know how available .303 is in Australia, I assume it's fairly common due to its prominence in Commonwealth countries.

If you do choose a marlin, try to buy one that's made before Remington acquired Marlin. The QC took a dump after the acquisition.
So, my Dad and I went up north on a road trip over the weekend where we had some time to kill innawoods.
I got him a Nikon D3200 for his birthday last year, and ever since he's been experimenting with different shots. We tried to capture a bullet from his P94 for the last few trips we made up to PA, and we finally got pretty close.

Do you feel safe knowing other people are less competent with handling cars? More people die in car accidents every year than are killed by firearms, and those people all have licences.
There are a lot of people that I question when I drive.
Took me four attempts to get my license, first one I failed were for small things, second time I failed for BS, third time I failed for BS, so I went to another branch and passed with no marks against me.
So that makes me wonder how some people even got their license, I've never been in a wreck, not even scraped my car, haven't had a single ticket.
Yet we have people flying 70mph in a 30, people that don't even stop at stop signs, and people that cut someone off almost sideswiping them.
'Murica, where people don't know how to drive for shit.

This is also an interesting read.

I traded out my Sub2k for a S&W 19-3. Every thing looks fine, cylinder is tough to open on one chamber, nothing big. It's dinged up a little and some of the bluing has rubbed off from holster wear. This was a working man's gun.
This is all fine until I pull the Pachmayr grips off. The bottom rear of the grip looks like it was cut/broke and was re-welded back together. A home made grip reduction. Now I know that the weld is nowhere near the main part of the frame, but it's still concerning. Weld looks a little crappy and the area was reground to match the rest of the grip. It looks like no attempt to reapply bluing to the area was made. Part of the serial number looks semi re-stamped also.
If you guys own a K frame square-butt S&W, can you post the dimensions of the bottom of the grip? I just need to confirm my thoughts. I want to buy new grips.

Actually I don't trust a lot of people driving either, which is why I'm very cautious when moving through traffic and wouldn't mind the requirements being even higher.
The funny thing is that people have a lot more respect for firearms than when driving. Many people have no problem going fast down narrow streets, even when there is a school just around the corner.
Because shooting is such a niche hobby here, people have extreme respect for it, since they don't know how firearms behave. Even in the controlled conditions of a mostly empty shooting range with an instructor present , they are still almost over careful.
It would be nice to see people behave in such a way with cars.

If you're just starting with guns, buy a .22 and practice with it for months. The ammo is cheap and you'll learn to maintain it, which applies to all firearms.
Aimpoint Comp M2/M68 for $350 with 2 mounts and original box.
