i know most of you aren't more into cartridges than "muh mosin shoots 54r" but some of you might like this little gem. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22107915/Patroner/finsk_spotter/hylsex2-patron.jpg[/t] finnish cartridge for m72 practice systems (66 KES 88 is the Finnish designation for the M72A5). 7,65 casing taking a spitzer .308 bullet with a tracer. pretty interesting design- Norway and Sweden uses 9x19 rounds with similar system, reduced load with a tracer bullet.
Why don't they just use 9mm or do what the Russians did and use standard ammo with extra deep grooves to simulate the trajectory? The AT-4 sims the US Army uses are also 9mm tracers (obv, because we bought it from the Swedes) RPG 7.62x39 Subcaliber adapter rifling: [thumb]http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s46/abwrestling33/0AA9E516-FC2B-4F0A-9DDD-7850A40DEEB6_zpsseaka10s.jpg[/thumb]
Tomorrow I'm picking up the new 18.5" barrel for my Remington 870, in a couple of weeks I'm getting my new Glock 34 Gen4 and in a month I'm getting a Ruger SR22. The guns are swarming me, and I am helpless. I swear.
I'm in USAF building mostly bombs and missiles, but we deal with any munitions the military uses.
Thanks for your service dude.
Should I get a Benelli Nova for my first shotgun? I have fired a Benelli M2 and I loved it. The Nova at a glance seems to be a pump-version of the M2. Also, ghost-ring sights are sweet.
Do you enjoy recoil? The Novas are super light for a shotgun because the reciever is made of polymer. Try one before you buy one.
Do you enjoy recoil? The Novas are super light for a shotgun because the reciever is made of polymer. Try one before you buy one.
Well, the M2 had some pretty heavy recoil too. What shotgun do you have?
Well, the M2 had some pretty heavy recoil too. What shotgun do you have?
870, 590, and a Saiga. I basically shot slugs and not much on target loads. My Saiga is the worst, but that's because it does not have a recoil pad like the other 2. If it was converted and had a pad, it would be better than the other shotguns I have. My shotguns are nowhere as light as the Nova. That's where I would be wary of the recoil that the Nova will have.

This will mainly be for target shooting and I may try duck hunting. I would consider a Mossberg 590 if I can try it out first.
There is not much of a difference between the 500/590/590a1. It is all the same action and receiver. The differences are how the barrel is secured, the trigger guard material, and barrel weight. Of the 3 versions, the 500 is the most plentiful, 590a1 most desired, 590 is in no man's land. A 590 can take a bayonet, has extended mag, and has same locking nut for the barrel just like the 590a1. It also uses the plastic trigger housing and safety from the 500. The 500 has a screw to secure the barrel. The 590a1 has a heavy barrel, metal trigger housing, and a metal safety. For the money, buy a used 500. Only reason I got a 590 was that it had the ghost ring sights, 8 shot capacity, and was cheaper than a full 590a1.
I'll consider that. I just wish for pump-action and ghost sights.
Also, if you want to hunt duck and still have irons, just by a 2nd barrel. An 18" barrel for birds is way too short. Get a 26" barrel minimum.

I just fucking love that shotgun, everything about it is just... tight and done in such a way that makes sense. And... Recoil wise (5'8" 140lbs guy) fells like nothing is there. I have shot a entire fucking CASE of sheells threw it in one day and my right arm was like I lifted up paper.... a single sheet of paper. But my left arm was semi sore because of the pumping..... I don't switch hands wile doing the deed.
how much does it typically cost to convert a fixed stock ak to a folder?
how much does it typically cost to convert a fixed stock ak to a folder?
Depends on how you want to do it; you can buy drop in folding stocks or buy a whole new rear trunnion for the russian/bulgarian style folding stocks. There are many more options, and cheaper/crappier/more expensive options, I just included some of the best. $85 for a Polish wire folder: http://ak-builder.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=30603 $110 for a Polish Beryl sidefolder: http://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/BERYL-FOLDING-STOCK-POLISH-GOOD-CONDITION-152p1603.htm $150 for Bonesteel Arms Galil style tubular folder: http://www.bonesteelarms.com/Ak-Saiga-Folding-Galil-style-stock-AKFSGL.htm $190 for Arsenal drop in triangle folder: http://www.k-var.com/shop/AK-BFS.html $200 for Manticore Arms Triangle Folder w/ Stormwerkz Hinge and ACE Receiver Block http://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/MANTICORE-TRIANGLE-STOCK-U-S-MADE-4p3602.htm $185 for a triangle folder with trunnion, minus new rivets and tools to rivet, or cost of a shop doing it. i'll probably try out the arsenal folder and see if my overpriced ukrainian cheek riser coincides with the length of pull comfortably
i'll probably try out the arsenal folder and see if my overpriced ukrainian cheek riser coincides with the length of pull comfortably
Only problem with the Arsenal type drop-in is the increase in LOP, unless that's what you want/need
Fuck. I lost the hammer spring and mag release spring for my Ruger 10/22. I don't think I'll find them Should I get the Rugger BX trigger group? Update: I found the hammer spring, but not the release spring. I ordered the spring from Midway USA a few minutes ago and I hope I can put it back together this time
I hate video games. They make me want to build/buy new guns that I don't have money for. DAMN YOU KF2!!!!

Wow that is a really nifty collection. I can't even begin to identify a significant portion of those rounds.
So, I think I'm gonna write a book and call it, "Fifty Shades of FDE". You'd think by now companies would have some kind of color code for creating FDE stuff so it matches. This is not the case unfortunately...
What do you guys think about those slide fire stocks for ARs?
What do you guys think about those slide fire stocks for ARs?
They are fun, but ultimately a lot of money for a piece of plastic. You will end up wasting a lot of ammo too. There was a guy awhile back who made his own that worked just as well, and cost a LOT less: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/571714_Homemade_Bump_fire_stock.html
Seems like a p cool dude.
I forgot about this guy. I remember watching some of the game shows he host. This has got to be the best explanation for "Assault Weapons" ever. I never even thought of the fact that the factories that make them pay well and many are employed.

Still, it's outrageously overpriced. Compared to other high dollar stocks, that cost less, it offers nothing of value. Also, commercial bump-firing stocks have been around for decades. They'll likely never be banned.

It all depends on the dyes they use.

There aren't that many out there, and the ones that are, well I've tried them all. This one has been the best by FAR. Ironically enough, it's a no-name stock that a USA seller on eBay sells. It's more robust than any standard waffle stock, just as light, has no play, and is the first one that is relatively close in color to most FDE stuff.
