If there is a gun already pointed at you, all they have to do is pull. You have to draw and get the gun into a reasonable position to fire. It won't take but a split second for them to see it's a gun and then fire. It's just not a safe situation if you already have a gun pointed at you. It's best to let the situation to play out.
Most armed robbers are out for money. If you can talk a good game and make them hold off until you surprise them, there are ways you can get out alive. I've had a bit of training in this.

Mind explaining what kind of training is that?

I studied Ninjutsu for almost ten years. Our instructor did quite a bit of training with us on this, he also trained police officers.
If Trunkmonkey saw that post, he would flip his shit.

I cc, I also practiced with three of my friends on a regular mugging scenario. They stick an unloaded gun one handed into my face and I disarm them or redirect the gun to them, and that's when they're expecting it to happen. 90% of the time I am able to get the weapon from them or redirect it. The other 10% of the time I have to struggle with them or resort to physical attacks, helps that I've taken self defense courses. I know it isn't the BEST training, but it's some, and I hope I never have to use it, but it's still a good idea to practice for situations that you think might have a slim chance of happening.
It also helps that I'm slightly paranoid and pay more attention to people than I should. Example being people that get too close to me in a check out line, people that seem be following me for more than 4 turns, or people that just seem to be loitering for too long. I blame some of that on being a third shift employee at meijer (basically walmart) and a third shift employee at a gas station where I have to look out for people trying to shoplift or rob the store.

That's not how muggings happen outside of Hollywood. Someone will get your attention and distract you while someone else walks up behind and lays you out. Awareness, not reflexes or martial arts tricks, is the best tool you can have. If you want to practice with your friends, do simple awareness checks: 'What was the cashier wearing?' or 'How many people were in line when we arrived?'. If you can pay attention to little details you'll notice when things are off.
Regarding OC vs CC, I'd never OC but I think it needs to be on the books. Carrying openly sounds like a great way to make yourself the first target in a shooting situation, but if OC is banned then that means you could get slapped with fines or charges if your CC is exposed. Having OC allowed but CCing lets you CC but not be overly worried about someone seeing your gun.

That's what I addressed in my second paragraph. I'm slightly paranoid. I always known when someone is behind me when out in public, I'm just on edge a lot when out in public.

And you make 95k a year...
Hokay...
Regardless of that, if you're not in striking distance, my trigger finger karate beats your ninja shenanigans.
Yes, I have seen people pull guns on armed robbers and win, but I have also seen them loose; usually whoever gets rounds on target first wins.
Sometimes it's just better to have situational awareness and never get into a bad situation than to have training and be a shit magnet.
Your "ninja" instructor should have at least taught you that.

1. Clearly you don't understand Ninjutsu. It's different than hollywood bullshit. I suggest you look it up before speaking on it. You're coming off as unnecessarily angry and abrasive. I suggest toning it down before you start a flame war.
2. What does my salary have to do with what I said?

No, it's not that, it's just that you sound like you're trolling.
I admit it, I don't know anything about ninjutsu.
I have taken (and no longer practice) 3 martial arts and am a master of none, but whether you're a master or not, unless you're within striking distance, you're going to get shot if you so much as twitch.
Here is a good channel to watch if you're interested in hand to hand combat/ disarms versus a gun or knife; lots of Krav Maga, lots of knife fighting.

Are you seriously trying to argue that your pedantic BS is superior in technique than his pedantic BS?
Both of you five minutes shame corner. This isn't daykare.

All I was saying is that I have had (unrelated to the martial art) training in disarming armed opponents, and multiple armed opponents from a very successful instructor who also trains police. I think I have a leg up on a lot of people who CCW. That's all I'm saying.

No, I'm just trying to tell the man how to avoid getting shot, not pushing dynamic chris costa/travis haley training as the cure.

I know how to avoid getting shot, and I know when or when not to pull a firearm. I do live in Baltimore FFS and have had people try and break in while I'm home. I know self defense in the real world.
In other news, not sure if anyone has been following the story for several weeks or not, but the G36 is a giant overpriced turd:
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/04/foghorn/germany-officially-ditches-hk-g36-states-accuracy-issues-as-main-complaint/
Supposedly, H&K cheaped out the guns by adding polyethylene to the polycroadimide which weakened the structural integrity of the plastic; that being said, H&K was quite broke when they got the contract for the G36s.
Even still, the barrel sits in a plastic trunnion and the sights sit on more plastic, all of which warps a lot more than metal when it gets hot, and doesn't do anything for accuracy/consistency.

I thought it was well known the trunions would warp after little use. I had heard they replaced them with metal parts after the first few runs, was this not the case?

No, they didn't, but they offered to.
Then they blamed the German govt. for not ordering MG36s which had heavier barrels and would resist the warping longer.
If I'm on a road trip and happen to be passing through Nevada or some other trigger happy red state, can I buy a gun and just bring it home with me to California?

Not legitimately. I've seen you posting about getting a pistol, try one of the private sale websites if going through an FFL is such a hassle where you are at.

Assume no, because California's laws are fucked.
Assume no, because California's laws are fucked.
But CCW is legal there. That's a step in the right direction.

I have an instruction booklet printed in 1963 for using the M1 helmet which depicts the US infantryman with an FN FAL.

Is it a US manual or a NATO one? I wonder if they printed the same ones for the US and the UK.
I got this from the Vietnam veteran to whom it was issued, along with the helmet it was issued with, so it's US issue. It may be the same for all NATO countries - but I think it was designed when we were really close to issuing the FAL, under the assumption that it was a done deal, and never changed when we decided to use the M16 instead.
Also, I don't think the UK used M1 helmets, but I may be mistaken.

Probably correct; the Brits used the Mk III-Mk V helmets up until 1984
At my local ghetto indoor range, the targets are on a clothes line with a ghetto motor to run the target down range, and half the time you wont get your target back. Case and point here;
[t]http://i.imgur.com/9C9TQta.jpg[/t]
My target got caught on the side of my lane and proceeded to stay there till after I left. It was my tightest grouping of the day too, couldn't take it home.
Australia might have used M1 helmets in Vietnam.
In other news, got a bunch of M14 mags converted for my Zastava M77.

Waiting on the rear trunnion block to come in so I can get furniture that doesnt suck installed on it. Seriously considering dropping the barrel down to about 14.5 inches and welding on a 3 inch flash hider, like a Dragnauve one or a Krink Booster. Make a neato lil street sweeper.
