Finally scheduled finger printing for my pistol permit. I wish I lived in a better state.
Finally scheduled finger printing for my pistol permit. I wish I lived in a better state.
Dude, they don't even finger print for a gun license here.
No licenses here in LA. Did have to get printed for my concealed permit though.
I don't have the energy to explain how the process works but you probably all ready know. NY and stuff. They told me the fingerprinting is a "first come first serve basis" whatever that means. But this is just one of the first steps anyway. I have a lot to do and a lot of time to wait and even than if NY sees such I won't even get a permit.

There's a lot of reasons why a person would need to go in for fingerprinting, so you're going to have to wait in a line
It just is weird to me because I made an appointment. But I get It, just think it's funny to think they'll run out of supplies or something like its a Black Friday sale. It's also compounded by the fact that I have to do any of this. The absurd amount of red tape when there are states where all you need is a drivers license and ten minutes to buy a handgun.
Welcome to New Yorkistan. Please, don't enjoy your stay, that's illegal. [editline]30th April 2015[/editline] Oh, unrelated to everything, but I think a few of our northern hat friends would enjoy this little snippet from an old news article I'm citing for a research paper: "In Canada — a country with its own frontier ethos and no great aversion to firearms — police shootings average about a dozen a year." 'No great aversion to firearms'...? Really...?

Last year. It was the Garner case thing.
o
"No great aversion" if we're talking about fuddy hunting guns, our media and 2 of our parties can't get enough of the "Ban evil babykilling assault weapons and handguns, because all they do is kill people! What's IPSC LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU GUNS R BAD! Find another hobby if you don't like it." Someone literally said "Gun owners can just find another hobby." What a stuck-up prick this asshole was too.
My LGS is the worst. I called on the phone asking for a 10/22 strut washer and they said they had it in stock. They even listed the price! I got in there to get ignored by all the old guys in there until I got service. I asked 3 guys and they said they don't sell small parts, although the man on the phone said they had it!
Finally got to shoot the MAB pistol. It jammed on the 12th round and locked the whole mechanism up, I had to take it home and fuck with it. Definitely not amused.

Or fuck em over by buying everything online because they don't have the courtesy to list that on the site or tell you over the phone. I got fed up with one of my LGS after my last purchase. I ain't going there any more.
Anyone have experience with getting a M1 Garand from CMP? What's that process like?
Check their site and it will explain it. Basically send them results from official competitions and other events. You are also on a waiting list if you can't go directly to the place where they keep guns.
People are fucking scummy. I traded this guy this pistol for my Lee Enfield. We met at the gun range to test-fire both guns and ensure that both are in working order. Well, we got there, he hands me the pistol, takes the rifle, goes "oh I gotta go, text me and we'll trade back if you don't like it" and he's out the door before I even realized what was happening. So I hit the range with it today, it jammed on shot #12 and had to be disassembled to clear it. That's not very reassuring so I decided to trade it back. I texted him and asked if he'd swap back and he just said "No" and is ignoring further texts. Since nothing's in writing I can't contact the police. Is there anything I can do?
Get it looked at by a smith and use it as a lesson learned about some private sales. If you decide to do more wheeling and dealing with guns, bring a friend. Preferably one who knows the about the gun you are interested in or a smith. Next time bring a receipt book and document the deal. No matter what happens, just make sure there is a paper trail next time.
There would have been except he practically ran out the door with it while I was inspecting the pistol.
Ouch.
yeah i dont buy used guns unless the owner allows me to briefly disassemble it and functions check it after i painstakingly bought a piece of shit m1 carbine a couple months ago reluctantly i ran into an old war vet in belton who collected m1 carbines and bought it for about 75$ less than what i paid for it, though i pretty much had to suck it up and accept defeat afterwards sounds like this might be the case for your newfound piece of shit pistol unless you fix it
I'm in a somewhat similar boat. Bought a used S&W 19 from LGS, no disassembly policy. Price match what it was going for online. They said their smith gave it an A-Ok on it. Buy it, take it home, remove old grips and see last owner did gunsmith special to the grip. Everything else on it works fine. I'm stuck with using Pachmayer grip that came on it though because the new grips are now over sized by a 1/4". Shop never listed that on item decription. Never shopping at that shop again.
i got my primary arms 1-6x ACSS scope today, havent bothered trying to fit it on my SM-13 mount but i'll pose a picture if i can get it on there because part of me thinks i got the wrong rings for it lol i really hope i didnt because i want it as low to the bore as possible and not sitting retarded high

Shit like this and how common it's becoming is making me lose interest in guns as a hobby. I almost can't even enjoy shooting anymore with everyone price gouging on ammunition and everyone else being an unpleasant dick. Shooting used to be a hobby you could enjoy with strangers at the range. Now you pay $20 to get on the range, $40 for a box of ammo that'll last you 15 minutes, have to be constantly vigilant for tryhards waving their shit around like maniacs, and worry about your hobby or parts of it suddenly becoming illegal. And of course, people stealing your shit.
You could always report it as a theft. I'm tempted to post his fucking phone number on /k/.

There is a good chance he hasn't shot it yet, so the gun would show that no test firing occurred. The contract conditions were not met.
I was shooting some reduced loads out of my muzzleloader today and when I shot a thick plank of wood, the bullet hit a steel nail in it and split in half. Cool.
So my first handgun I want a Glock 19 assuming I can find one locally. That's for the house, with a light on it and all that jazz. If I can concealed I want a S&W Bodyguard because I usually can't carry anything huge, especially in the Summer and I can see myself possibly ditching something heavy and bulky. But mostly I don't ever want to have anyone notice so I want the smallest gun possible and the Bodyguard is everything I want. But I think I also want a Glock 26 for Winter when you're wearing coats and stuff. So for the extra round capacity and a slightly bigger cartridge. Since it'll be easier to conceal it won't be so bad. [editline]2nd May 2015[/editline] Also that story about the stolen pistol sucks. Maybe it's just because I'm always afraid I'll get arrested for some minor obscure infraction but I never go to ranges. I just don't like being limited on what I can shoot, what I can shoot through it, how fast I can shoot or how and etc. etc. so I'm incredibly thankful I have property far enough from people to shoot on. I usually just invite friends, usually friends that have never shot guns and have fun for a few hours. I don't get out often, so I usually buy ammo and than sit on it for months and by the time I get out I forgot how much I paid and I don't feel as bad about shooting a shit-ton of it. I let my friend fire off like 200 rounds of 5.56 and I was like "Whatever, he's having fun." All I ever hear are bad things about ranges.
Some dude's Ruger Gunsite Scout just blew up on the range, using factory ammo too. Blew up all in his face and sent parts of the mag all over the range. Waiting in a Tims for the paperwork to be done in hopes that I can still shoot.
What's the bet it had an after-market barrel swap to a smaller caliber like .243Win and the guy didn't know? Or it was the .223 version and he loaded .300 Blackout
