Fuck that's crazy, my mag did fall apart once on my brother, but other then that my scout has been a fucking amazing bolt gun.
Didn't take pics. He says it's all factory with Winchester ammo. The gun blew down the magwell and to the left.

They opened the range up after an hour again, so I still got to shoot.
Is my local gun shop trying to rip me off? I asked the owner to put a S&W 686 on backorder for me and he let me take a look at the website. It was new for only $624, which was his dealer price. But he wanted $200 in dealer fees for ordering it.

Yeah that's bullshit. $200 in fees is ridiculous if you're just wanting to basically reserve one from his next shipment.

Yes. I've never paid more than 50.

Might as well buy it online and have it shipped to another shop. At least you get it in a more timely manner.

I've got weaver extra high ring mounts on sm-13 mount. Originally I was going to get low mount rings but that sacrifices manipulating the variable magnification diopter knob extension thingy due to it being blocked by the sm-13 mount.
On 1x magnification the ironsight will also cowitness with the reticle if you get weaver low rings and put it on an sm-13 low mount as well.. which I am not a fan of, but I've yet to put this thing through it's paces at a real steel target range.
Eye relief isn't the greatest but this might be due to using the high mounts and constantly having to chin weld while feeling a little uncomfortable with my grip while standing. I'll shoot it tomorrow.

I painted some Brownells 20 round mags. It's not perfect but I think it still looks nice in person.
[t]http://imgkk.com/i/z-ev.jpg[/t]
I don't think I ever mentioned it but those old 20 round pmags came in as described awhile back in case anyone was wondering. They look great too.
Some dude's Ruger Gunsite Scout just blew up on the range, using factory ammo too. Blew up all in his face and sent parts of the mag all over the range. Waiting in a Tims for the paperwork to be done in hopes that I can still shoot.
American engineering at its finest.
Never had a gun blow up on me before, but I have had one disassemble itself mid firing. Was shooting my grandmothers PoS raven arms 25 auto into my Uncles pond trying to pick off some turtles. Fired the last round in the mag and it somehow destroyed the take-down pin and the slide flew off the frame into the pond.

Alright, I suspected that he was ripping me off after he ripped my dad's friend off by charging $38 for 20 rounds of 6.5x55, goes for ~$20 on SGAmmo. He's closed tomorrow, but on monday i'm gonna tell him to cancel the order. There's a few pawnshops here that deal in guns, so i'll take a look there.
Also, are there any legal issues with having a family member actually fill out the paperwork for me? The "No Handguns until 21" law is bullshit. I read that it can be written down as a gift.

Or i can just do that. I saw a really nice 6 in stainless GP100 on Gunbroker earlier.
better to wait until 21 and then have your dad/brother/mom/goat transfer it over on paper to you, trust me
im telling you this now to avoid complications as i have been going through some bullshit with the NICS background check system that's so wonderfully ran by the FBI
i cannot tell you the amount of agitated feels i had when i found out you can be denied to own a handgun for missing something as menial as jury duty while actively serving in the military
save yourself the headache and have someone else register the pistol for you, or just do a backdoor trade like most ATF dodging gun owners do
LGS can be problematic when there is little competition. North West Indiana has stupid prices for guns. You will never find a deal in a LGS. Hell, going to Cabela's is actually a better choice.
I've been hedging my bet though on a new shop that opened a couple years ago. They do a great price for transfers compared to the established shops.

it's called a straw purchase. legally it has to be their money used to purchase the gun. have them buy it and then do a private purchase from them to cover your ass
No one is checking any of that. It's not illegal for you to own a pistol, no problem

I like the 20 rounders. Mine's got a bittersweet story.
It was located in an ALICE pack left behind in a recording studio this veteran guy was squatting in when he was homeless, somewhere in masshole land. The guy who owned the shit came back from whatever conflict he served in addicted to heroin/crack and got arrested for drug charges. I took these photos 6 years ago, and I haven't heard from my folks if he ever came back for his shit. I can assume that given what his age would be now and drug addiction that he is most likely dead.
I never identified the age of his gear or met the guy personally. With the cyalume lightstick that was packed in his ALICE pack I want to say he was in Bosnia during his service, but he had 20 rounders so I can't be too sure. I'm not that much of an expert identifying shit like this. All I know is that this guy use to be in 772 MP CO.

On 7 January 1991 the 772nd was ordered into federal service for duty in the Gulf War. It provided reconnaissance and security for main supply routes. The 772nd was released on 14 May 1991.
In 2009 the 772MP Co was deployed to Al Kut, Iraq where they spent the year training the local police forces and assisted in Military operations.

My only regret with it is that I was impatient and didn't wait to buy FDE MBUS sights because the store only had black ones.

Daniel Defense makes a great rifle.
If they buy it with the intent to sell it to you there can be some issues there too. It's best if they buy it and hang onto it in their name for a few months then sell it because they "thought it was shitty".
There are exemptions in most cases for a parent gifting it to their child.
Thank you to Desert Fox Outfitters for requiring a parcel to require a signature for absolutely no reason, so I miss my package when I'm out of town, and have to wait 2 extra days to make it to the post office.

thought this was p cool.
Shouldn't've the powder inside the cartridges have gone off?
From what? Brass being penetrated doesn't offer enough friction to ignite a spark and a copper and lead projectile doesn't have enough heat in its transfer to cause combustion.
Shouldn't've the powder inside the cartridges have gone off?
neither brass nor copper make sparks
Shouldn't've the powder inside the cartridges have gone off?
They were using cordite at that time instead of powder I think.
Anyone ever heard of Inter Ordnance? I saw this beauty at my range today for $700.

I.O.'s history is really bad. Corrosion from not washing bluing salts off properly, poor fitting parts, bad riveting, ect. It was worse than CAI. Supposedly they have turned around and are making good enough AKs.
I would not buy one of those AKs currently though. Wait it out or if you want an AK badly, go on Classic Arms or buy a Zastava M PAP.
Who would actively choose to put the absolute worst AK stock ever on their rifles?
Hmm. Didn't know they had a bad history.
I'm excited now. I just checked and I'm pretty sure I have close to 100% of the paperwork I need for my pistol permit. Tomorrow I'm going to go and buy my first gun, pay in-full so I don't have to worry about my layaway expiring and with that receipt I think I'll be done.
Than all I have to do is get my fingerprints done and that either at that time or the next day I can submit all this paperwork, have the Sheriff visit my house, meet with the investigator for my interview and than I can sit back and pray I get it.
First gun is gonna be a brand new Glock 19 Gen 4. Should be pretty sweet.
If I get my permit and it's unrestricted for CCW than the same day I go to pick up my Glock I'm gonna buy two more guns and have them amended. S&W Bodyguard and a Glock 23.
I really hope I get unrestricted. I wrote a decent letter and we have a good judge in our county.
I have a lot of paperwork and fees in my future though. I accidentally let my Security Guard license expire so I gotta redo the classes, get my fingerprints done (for the third time) and all that. Than when I get my pistol permit I'm going to do all the classes and paperwork and fees to get my Armed Security Guard license. Not to mention the process of amending any new handguns is a fucking choir in it's self.
