Anyone ever heard of Inter Ordnance? I saw this beauty at my range today for $700.

If you pay more than $600 for a AKM, you're wasting your money. IO is a shit manufacturer, even for AK's.
What ever happened to that American company that was making their own version of the PSL?
There was one group that was making a PSL pistol, but they chopped it because it would reclassify 7.62x54r as a pistol round and ban all the imports of steel core 54r. Thats the only one that I know of.
I'm excited now. I just checked and I'm pretty sure I have close to 100% of the paperwork I need for my pistol permit. Tomorrow I'm going to go and buy my first gun, pay in-full so I don't have to worry about my layaway expiring and with that receipt I think I'll be done.
Than all I have to do is get my fingerprints done and that either at that time or the next day I can submit all this paperwork, have the Sheriff visit my house, meet with the investigator for my interview and than I can sit back and pray I get it.
First gun is gonna be a brand new Glock 19 Gen 4. Should be pretty sweet.
If I get my permit and it's unrestricted for CCW than the same day I go to pick up my Glock I'm gonna buy two more guns and have them amended. S&W Bodyguard and a Glock 23.
I really hope I get unrestricted. I wrote a decent letter and we have a good judge in our county.
I have a lot of paperwork and fees in my future though. I accidentally let my Security Guard license expire so I gotta redo the classes, get my fingerprints done (for the third time) and all that. Than when I get my pistol permit I'm going to do all the classes and paperwork and fees to get my Armed Security Guard license. Not to mention the process of amending any new handguns is a fucking choir in it's self.
Where the hell do you live? That sounds awful.
NY State.
I'm now the owner of a Glock 19 Gen 4. Ironically enough it's a misdemeanor for me to even touch it currently.
They didn't have any in the store so he had to order one. I paid for it in full. Came out to like $750 and I could only buy the Gen 4 because it's the only Gen of Glock that offers 10rd Capacity NY Legal Magazines. So I had to pay a premium. Oh well though, it's what I want. I gotta wait for them to call me to go in and get the receipt and serial number and all that jazz and than I can finally submit all this paperwork and pray that they don't deny me.
Today I bought a pair of Mechanix gloves, truly I am now 'operator'.
my dad has a pair of those

When I work on cars you cant really help from getting dirty.
But I normally use a air hose / suction thing to blow gasoline at a vehicle to de-grease it.
Works well. Make sure exhaust is not the temperature of the sun first.
And on "slight" topic of gloves.... Why must you need a glove? FFS I need a shoulder pad more than a glove. I went threw 25 rounds of Buckshot and holy cow theirs a HUGE difference in between it and #8 Target Loads.

Progress. M77 conversion is done, but I'm still gonna chop the barrel down to about 14.5' and tack on a 2 inch long flash hider. I really like it so far.

you've got weak shoulders. gloves are nice if you're shooting somewhere that you might otherwise cut yourself on something, like barbed wire or broken glass or rusty metal. They're also nice to have with certain grip setups, on my AR15 with my GI trigger guard and MOE+ grip there's a little gap between the grip and the trigger guard that will cut the hell out of your fingers if you're not wearing gloves.. I used to have a plug in there but it fell out at some point. they're also good to have with those tiny AKM grips

If you own a suppressor and it's hot, you can remove it or tighten it without waiting for the thing to cool. For people who enjoy big bore handguns or very powerful cartridges for a handgun, gloves are a god send for recoil absorption and holding onto the gun.
I've got babby hands and gloves help with the feeling of control. It's easier to do shit like one hand the charging handle, and I don't end up sweating all over the metal.
I honestly despise shooting anything with gloves. I don't work on anything with gloves on, really. Pretty much only use latex gloves at work to change R.O. filters, and that's about it.
I hate shooting in the extreme Idaho winters having to wear poofy gloves so my damn fingers don't freeze to the gun. Can barely get my finger in the trigger guard.
well i p much stripped both the axis pin heads and screwheads retaining my PK-01V on it's weaver mount, and now it is not only stuck but it wiggles on the rail
it would help if i knew the size of the screws to replace them otherwise i am going to wrap metal wire around the top and loctite the shit out of it

get semi-heavy gloves, cut a finger off, and wear medium gloves underneath. your index finger will be a little colder than the rest of your fingers but other than that it should be an improvement.

Latex gloves for cleanliness under mechanix gloves for heat/pinch resistance.
get 2 dirty socks and cut 5 holes in each of them and you have chechen operator gloves
A friend of mine just bought some kind of savage .308 the other day, and now I'm getting a scope and doing some improvements to my nugget so I can hold my own while target shooting or hunting. I'm gonna polish where the trigger rides on the sear and I might get it recrowned. What would it cost to have a gun shop recrown it vs buying a kit and doing it myself?

That looks really neat. Can you post the upgrades list?

It will probably be cheaper to have it done, buying the start up kit to recrown is going to run you about $360.
Here is a DIY guide for re crowning:
http://rifleshooter.com/2012/08/cut-and-crown-a-rifle-barrel-without-a-lathe-11-degree-target-crown/
it'll be cheaper to take the barrel to a machinist to have it recrowned. he'll have an apprentice chuck it in a lathe and you'll have it back in 20 minutes. it'll cost $60 or case of beer depending on whether or not you know the guy

I lit of 135 rounds of .40 s&w today, I was really checking that the sights on my glock were good but there were pinecones that needed holes in them so I got a little carried away. then I remembered how expensive ammo is so I stopped
Welp nevermind on the recrowning, after closer inspection, its already been counterbored. I polished up the trigger, and it doesnt really feel lighter, but its definately a lot smoother.
Had my finger prints done today. So close I can hardly wait to be finished with this shit.
Than comes the months of waiting for what may be a bitter sweet restricted permit.
Is foam better than open air for storing guns? I'm so paranoid about my C96 starting to rust because of the state of the finish. It hasn't yet but I'm afraid I'll have missed some errant fingerprint while cleaning it and it'll be a pile of iron oxide the next time I look at it. I don't know what to do. If I put it in a bag with dehydrators the wood grips will shrink.
You can leave a gun in a cloth lined soft case almost forever. Found a couple of shotguns that were not used for at least 15 years sitting in canvas and cloth cases. All in pristine condition with only wear marks from use. If the case is straight hollow cell foam, it may rust from moisture staying in the pockets. A closed cell foam liner can be a better option if it's possible. I still prefer the cloth lined soft cases.
You should check on your guns in storage from time to time still. I check my guns, that are in a safe and some cloth cases, at least once a month and re-oil them.
I forgot my nugget in the furnace room over the winter and there was some rust in the barrel inbetween the riflings
after some pb blaster and a brush, no more rust.

You're wasting your time trying to accurize your mosin. You can dump $500 into a free float kit, timney trigger, professional installation, and a $1,000 scope, but it's still only going to be half as good as your friends $500 Savage with an accutrigger. Unless you strip the thing down to the action and rebuild it from the ground up with new parts, you're really not doing a lot of good.
