UN building in Canada somewhere.

Fuck that. If I'm going to Canada it's for an unhealthy amount of poutine, not to look at a bunch of desecrated guns.

Its just some modern art travesty involving thousands of perfectly good guns ruined senselessly.

I got the mosin sighted in at 200yd today. I am pleased.

Its the murdercube son, not some schlocky pointless modern art. It's the embodiment of shooters everywhere, where destroyed guns rose from the ashes to form the Murdercube, our lord and savior. Those guns died for our sins, don't forget that.
Sup, what'd I miss

That's a shrine for shooters in the same way a statue of beheaded muhammad would be for muslims.

That's not really the same. Those guns won't ressurect in 3 days. Or ever. I look at murdercube and see a mass grave.
anyone got any experience with the sxp defender?
kinda want one, only thing killing it is the can't-change-choke deal which is pretty sucky. i get its use and all (buckshot and slugs) but it'd be nice being able to shoot birdshot in it too.
i'd buy an 870 but having handled and shot my friend's one countless of times i just plain don't want one anymore
You're really not going to have a lot of luck finding a "defensive" shotgun model that you can add a choke to. That kind of thing just doesn't go through most people's minds in the US. It looks like they make field models of the SXP though with swappable chokes.
the field model is too long, and in addition, the 12/89 versions (maybe 76 too) were recalled because they kept misfiring/slamfiring with the safety engaged. spooky shit
The Ultimate Defender has a "Door Breacher choke tube", maybe it's removable.

Sweet!
'ello, gents.
I'm going to assume that most people here have firearms licenses, and as someone who's considering doing weapon handling or the like for film, it's something I'd need.
How difficult are the tests? How much of it is common sense vs in-depth technical knowledge of the science of guns? I did a challenge test today and on my first run, no extra research done, I got 60% on a 10-question quiz (80% is required to pass) and after about half an hour of studying the manual, I bumped it up to 9.
Why do you need to use real firearms for a film? There are plenty of prop guns out there, and I'm not sure about your countries laws, but an airsoft should be legal for you to own without a license shouldn't it?
Most hollywood movies filmed up here do use real guns and fire blanks, as far as I'm aware. At the same time, guns on set need to be A) handled by an armorer, and B) supervised by a member of the ETF (our SWAT-equivalent).

A lot of places have separate laws for using real firearms in films due to the serious risk of accidentally killing someone. You'd be better off with deactivated or airsoft guns.
Converting firearms to fire blanks isn't as simple as loading blanks into a real gun. Without a special adapter (which you wouldn't use in a film) or a plug inserted into a barrel you could easily kill or maim someone with one.

Yes they do, and they have huge fucking budgets.
Using real guns converted to fire blanks in a film or TV is expensive.
I'm not saying my dinky little indie movies are going to use blank-firing weapons. Indeed, my friends and I are planning on doing a movie in a year or two and will be using deactivated airsoft weapons as props.
That being said, working on big-budgeted movies where they do use blank-firing weapons is something I'd be interested in doing, hence my interest in taking lessons.
There aren't lessons. What you would needs to do is either have lots of money or work for a company that does movie armouring.
I meant safety courses, but that's a good point you made there.
[editline]21st May 2015[/editline]
I suppose a good place to start would be to familiarize myself with safety courses though, right? :v:

Sorry if I seem to be harping on this a lot, it's just something I find interesting, and work in a field that interests you is usually a good thing, no? It's just I don't exactly have a massive clue on where to start.

Is Mossberg or Weatherby sold over there? You can look into those.
I'd imagine you're looking for something like this, minus the camo dip.
