I've seen some stupid things in my time, but responding to scientific evidence about gun control with a video from a comedy show takes the cake.
I don't get why everyone on the internet uses some little out of context skit from George Carlin to claim their opinion is bulletproof.
I don't get why everyone on the internet uses some little out of context skit from George Carlin to claim their opinion is bulletproof.
lol what does that have to do with anything?
So... my Armi Jager 357 broke the pawl and after two trips to the gunsmith the timing is still wrong so I decided to fix it myself. The problem is that the smith keeps putting a Uberti hand in that is too small. I can't find any Armi Jager parts.
Well you have 2 options if you can't find that part specifically. 1) Take it to a more competent gunsmith who will make a new one or modify an existing one to work. 2) Do the fix yourself by building up a small amount of material by welding the pawl and shape it yourself with some files and sand paper.
lol what does that have to do with anything?
Some idiot over in my newly created gun control thread replied to scientific evidence with a youtube comedy show. People quite often will not even bother to read anything that goes against their worldview.
Do we do bows here? Got a new bow for hunting. [t]http://i.imgur.com/K4mt0yj.jpg[/t] It's a Bear Cruzer, variable draw length and weight. My draw is 29" and it's set to 55lbs right now. It's a really nice bow, once it's drawn it's got an 80% letoff so it only feels like you're holding 10lbs or so. I also got NEW BOOTS! Cause my old ones are worn out and shit now. [t]http://i.imgur.com/pRy2Z9B.jpg[/t] Merrell Energis Hikers, they're going to be my hunting/camping/hiking boots. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ucAzOue.jpg[/t] Lacrosse Quad Comfort 4x6's with a steel toe. They're gonna be my every day work boots Also bonus! The bow came with a sticker to put on a vehicle window, so I put it on the rear window of my truck. First sticker, so exciting. I would really like to get into bow hunting, sounds like a lot of fun. [sp2]so silent, much death[/sp2]
I would really like to get into bow hunting, sounds like a lot of fun. [sp2]so silent, much death[/sp2]
So far, I do general gun, turkey, waterfowl, small game, and black powder. Now I'm getting into archery. All that's left is a crossbow and a bowfishing kit and I'm hitting every season in my state. These are the broadheads I'm going to be using for this season. I've done a lot of research into them and the reviews are amazing. Seems like the best innovation in broadheads since mechanical blades. It has a HUGE cutting surface. 5 inches total, and supposedly the design pulls blood vessels into the path of the blade instead of pushing them away like most arrows do. Bought 15 pounds of damaged flecktarn and DPM from /k/ommando store. Got a free bag of cigarette butts and loose tobacco and some loose 54r brass. Thanks Ivan, at least he didn't draw a picture of a dick on the box like last time. Most of the flecktarn and DPM is actually in good condition, just some fading and marginal tears around the knees and elbows. Considering I paid like 8$ for 10 or 15 jackets/shirts/parkas, not a bad deal.

Crossbows for home defense?
Crossbows for home defense?
Nah. Black Powder Rifle!
Nah. Black Powder Rifle!
But then you gotta spend 30 fucking minutes scrubbing it down on top of the blood.
But then you gotta spend 30 fucking minutes scrubbing it down on top of the blood.
Dude no. Last time I shot my black powder rifle I spent like an hour and a half shooting it, didn't swab between shots and didn't use lube (the powder I use says not to) Got home, filled the barrel and nipple with bore blaster, then watched a movie and ate dinner for an hour. Go back outside, turn rifle upside down over bucket, pour hot water thru nipple hole into barrel. Swab with patches until dry. Total time cleaning was less than 5 minutes.

What this bore blaster stuff anyway? I usually use a copper bore brush and soap then a bore mop with some wonderlube on it after to keep it from rusting.

What I've been using is "American Pioneer Powder", it's designed for sidelock muzzleloaders. Tons of smoke when I fire, leaves a fuckload of residue. The bore blaster stuff I'm talking about is this Tried it on a whim once, fell in love with it. It's amazing. All you do is fill your barrel with it, rinse it out, and dry it. I didn't even have to use a copper brush, it took care of any lead fouling that was present.

Fantastic I hope it passes.
I would really like to get into bow hunting, sounds like a lot of fun. [sp2]so silent, much death[/sp2]
The thing that puts me off bow hunting is the notion of having to track a wounded animal choking on its own blood through a mile of dense forest and just hoping you can find it.
Arrows with GPS chips. Is that a thing?
The thing that puts me off bow hunting is the notion of having to track a wounded animal choking on its own blood through a mile of dense forest and just hoping you can find it.
That's only something that happens if you're a retard when it comes to shot placement, and that applies to ALL forms of hunting. Bow AND gun. Most modern broadhead arrows cause wound cavities just as big as bullets. Look up on some broadhead ballistics info. They're pretty damn deadly.
George Carlin is great and all, but type of reply is pretty dense
What pisses me off is when people reply with that dam jim jefferies youtube video on gun control because they're too dumb to articulate an argument for themselves. "You don't neeeeed guns m8, why don't you just put the baby killing device doooown and live happy lives like us aussies. -hahahahaha" oh fuck off
I've been wanting an enfield for a while now and there's a 1949 one near me with copper wire handguards for 325. But I'm also saving for an AK74
Got a Taurus PT-1911 today. I had the opportunity to shoot one a few weeks ago, and really grew into it. It's pretty damn comfortable to handle even with the flat faced grip, and punches pretty hard for a 45.
I'm sorry to hear that. [editline]6th June 2015[/editline] Anyone remember which FPer it was that owned a PT1911, and it basically chipped itself away and slowly destroyed itself, despite being sent back to the factory like 3 times?

What's worse is that just that people exist that want to strip other people's rights away because they're scared by inanimate objects.
Montana: the land of the Firearms Freedom Act, where you can't hunt with saboted bullets in muzzleloaders.
Montana: the land of the Firearms Freedom Act, where you can't hunt with saboted bullets in muzzleloaders.
What? That sounds dumb? Why the fuck not? That being said, if you buy saboted bullets for muzzleloaders you're an idiot. They're SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE. I cast my own lead bullets for my muzzleloader and even after buying the mold and drop furnace it was like 10x cheaper than buying as many saboted bullets as I could make with the lead I bought.
