[t]http://i.imgur.com/S1zynKf.jpg[/t]
It's generally a terrible idea to shoot steel that soft. You'll probably run into that situation way more often if you keep shooting it. The uneven surface created by the impact craters means you have no idea where the fragments and whatnot are directed.
This is why we wear eyepro.... Other than that, sounds awesome.
In my like 20 years of shooting I have never had any issues with shrapnel or debris. First time anything like thats happened, but I'm bringing eyepro along next time I go shooting it. We just wanted to build something that would last, and didn't really want to drop $150 on an AR500 target. I doubt 22lrs will cause any issues with ricochets and shrapnel like steel core 54r will.
Guys, the SC shooting topic is pissing me off. More retards coming in saying "ban guns guys."
Guys, the SC shooting topic is pissing me off. More retards coming in saying "ban guns guys."
who cares, ignore them.
who cares, ignore them.
They're either from the UK or Aussie anyway. Totally different dynamic that they don't get but annoyingly try and change. Anyway. Any good ammo sales happening online now? In the market for some .223. [editline]19th June 2015[/editline]
long paragraph
What do you think of the SVT-40?
What do you think of the SVT-40?
Literally my favorite gun I have ever owned. It's just fucking raw bolshevik fun. It's reasonably accurate, it's violent, it's uncontrollable, it spits gas in your face and kicks your shoulder like you punched its sister, sometimes the bolt locks shut and the only way to open it is to kick it open with your boot. It's a manly man man's man rifle, and I suggest you all buy one. I bought it for $700 2 or 3 years ago and I got an offer on it about 8 or 9 months ago for $2,500 and I absolutely do not regret it one bit turning that guy down.

Last time I was shooting mine having the cleaning rod touch the barrel caused the accuracy to go to shit, or maybe it just started hating my Czech ammo and preferred the Chinese, but it doesn't kick at all. It's also loud as fuck. I have people look at me when I fire it for the first time because it grabs their attention. Also I've had it lock the bolt shut on me too. Mine also has a sticky last shot hold-open, and until I got the proper gas wrench to really tighten that sumbitch down the gas system would get loose after 50 rounds.
Guys, the SC shooting topic is pissing me off. [editline]20th June 2015[/editline] Oh Jesus, I actually read what you posted agentfazexx and damn that was retarded. Couldn't you have at least found some unbiased sources? There are plenty of studies done by credible universities that show the Australian buyback did nothing. You don't need to link anything from pro-gun websites that people will immediately call you out on to find studies that support gun ownership. [editline]20th June 2015[/editline] Thank you DaCommie1 for citing something from an Australia university. I want to jump in but usually when that happens we start seeing comments on how an Australian could be so retarded as to support gun ownership.
I may not know much about gun laws and arguing about them in Australia, but when I try to argue about them, I try and find at least one source to back up my claims that isn't a right-wing fringe blog.

If you wanted to build something that would last, why did you immediately ruin it? The surface of that thing right now is a liability no matter what you shoot at it. Unless you built more to replace it.

Unless you built more to replace it.
we turned it around once we were done lol, it's not ruined and theres no need for spares. There was no significant bulging on the other side of the plate so it was completely fine. I had my Tokarev with me and the man we made it for didn't have any 22 on hand to test it with, so I picked some 54r out of the floorboard of my car and tested it. We spent like sub-$100 on it all and the plate was less than half the cost. If I have to replace it down the line, the guys at the fabrication shop would be more than glad to cut me a new one. [editline]20th June 2015[/editline]
Believe me, I shoot a lot of .22 on steel and aluminium at varying ranges and it's scary what it can do. .22LR is one of the least predictable rounds when it comes to behaviour at hit. A very slight angle might cause a severe skipping/fragmenting and send lead tumbling around (maybe even at a couple hundred m/s into your (friend's) face).
which is why we angled the plate downwards so any ricochets and fragments get thrown right into the dirt, which is what was happening anyway.
I'll never forget how genuinely unsafe I felt at the only FA shoot i've been to in my life because of all the ricochet noises and how loosely organized it was. Kids shooting grease guns at sandstone formations and shit and guys "missing" the ground with the 37mm.

No way in hell I'd stay for a machinegun shoot where people are shooting ricks like morons.
The indoor range is fucking boring but at least paper is safe so long as no one royally fucks up and hits the floor or walls or something.
The indoor range is fucking boring but at least paper is safe so long as no one royally fucks up and hits the floor or walls or something.
I used to think the same thing till I saw a retard shatter a florescent light in the ceiling and take the whole fixture down.
New gun hype~ My pistol arrives Monday. So I'll have a job interview, hopefully get the job, then by on my way to fondle a new gun.

STILL waiting on my FOID card. Goddamnit Illinois, I want my M44 carbine!
STILL waiting on my FOID card. Goddamnit Illinois, I want my M44 carbine!
When my dad applied for his a couple years back, it took over 90 days to get it. When I applied for mine about this time last year, I got it in a couple weeks. There really is no consistency. The whole system is dumb any way.
Just bought 500 rounds of .223 and 50 rounds of Tokarev for $160 shipped. [editline]20th June 2015[/editline] I want this though http://www.freedommunitions.com/9mm-115-gr-RN-100K-Pallet-p/fmp9r115r-100.htm [editline]20th June 2015[/editline] Or this https://www.freedommunitions.com/Igman-5-56-M-855-62-gr-AP-100K-Pallet-p/ipp556m855n-100.htm#

But... capitalism...
For $320? USD? That's super cheap, jump on that
Can get a used Micro T1 for 320 bucks, deal or no deal? Thought of putting it on the SXP Defender I might get
Absolutely grab that. I thought I wouldn't like the smaller lens size of the Micros, but they're fantastic optics.
considering you're buying 20 grand worth of ammo, you'd think they could sell it to you at less than retail cost.
I imagine they don't want you reselling it and that if you're buying literal pallets of ammo you're probably a police department or something that can deal with the cost anyways.
I wanna buy a cheap, simple break action double barrel 12 gauge. Accurate enough for casual trap shooting or shooting things for fun. First question: side by side or over under? pros? cons? second question: any specific reccomendations?
