Why is striker fire seen as being a bad thing for conceal carry?
It's not?
ooooooooooooooooooooookay I got it, no piston AR. Only reason I asked is cause there was one at the BX and it seemed like a good deal.
Why is striker fire seen as being a bad thing for conceal carry?
Hammer fire is convenient because it's very obvious if the gun is primed to fire. AFAIK, the safety on hammer fire weapons is also a bit more reliable since you can double it up with a decocker and other traditional safety designs. Don't quote me on that one, though.

Don't quote me on that one, though.
Adding a decocker doesn't double as an extra safety, it just makes it "safer" to decock the weapon, instead of holding the hammer with your thumb and pulling the trigger and slowly letting the hammer down. If you're drunk or retarded, letting the hammer down that way may cause an issue. Striker fired is also convenient because if the gun is loaded and you haven't pulled the trigger on an empty magazine, then it's ready to go, no different than a hammer fired pistol is. If you have a round in the chamber then it's good to go, no question about that. If you're CC'ing, you want as few safeties between you and pulling the trigger as possible. Thats why trigger safeties are ideal because if you properly have your finger on the trigger you're good to go. It's why I like Sig Sauer P22* handguns; the DA trigger pull is juuust heavy enough to where it's not going to set itself off and where it won't through off your aim. Perfect DA/SA gun for CC.
Bought a suppressor for my Mini 14 today! It's a short, steel made suppressor made by a Norwegian Company. Really compact and rugged, with nice noise suppression. Having a suppressor on the Mini 14 produced some insane gas backblast though. And the casings were actually ejected with such force that one landed on my friends car, on the other side of the house behind us... To do: new gas bushing. So the Mossberg Blaze is a non-restricted rifle here, right? Mossberg comes out with the Blaze-47, a gun that is functionally identical in every way to the Blaze, but it looks like an AK. That one was just banned as an AK variant here by the RCMP, EVEN THOUGH IT HAS NOTHING IN COMMON WITH AN AK EXCEPT LOOKS! This is fucking ridiculous. It seems like this is just the RCMP being pissy about Bill C-42 passing and the government loosening gun control and cracking down on the CFOs.
With a CZ 75 BD, is it safe (mechanically and shooty wise) to lower the hammer from full cock to down, using the decocker and trigger together?
With a CZ 75 BD, is it safe (mechanically and shooty wise) to lower the hammer from full cock to down, using the decocker and trigger together?
Probably not but you still shouldn't do it regardless.
New gat added to the collection today. I need to take a family photo soon.
[t]http://imgkk.com/i/om-c.jpg[/t] I got my 10/22 back today. If this looks familiar to anyone, it's pretty much a part-for-part copy of a build by a guy named "Cable" I found during a google search, with the most glaring difference being that mine isn't a takedown. His photos can be seen here. I know the coupled mags kind of look silly, I might not bother with that whole idea.
Why put such an extreme muzzle break on a 22? Aesthetics?
Why put such an extreme muzzle break on a 22? Aesthetics?
It's not a muzzle break, it's a flash hider. It's standard on model 1261.
Is it illegal if I build a CAD model of a gun I had an idea for? Probably not, can't hurt to ask.
Manufacturing is fine as long as you serial the receiver (just etch 1 into it) and it otherwise conforms to NFA. Also if you build it with the intent to sell it and don't have some particular license you're officially a criminal. But if you just build a one off and sell it later to be rid of it you're OK.
So I don't need a license with the ATF then? I also talk of like a model in computers, which shows how the parts will work and such ( and also possibly and sadly show I don't know as much about guns as I think but I wish otherwise ), to prove the gun as a concept. It would have the usual things that they need of course, ejector, extractor, return spring, etc. At least if it wouldn't work in real life, I'd have a model to show people and they could tell me why.
You don't need anything to make a 3D model of a gun. :v:
What do you know about gun manufacturing out of the garage or whatever now then? You have me curious. Do you only know just about the legal things?
I have a general idea of the laws because I looked into it while I was briefly entertaining the idea of building my own MG42 off a parts kit, but it was too much work to make it legal (had to convert to closed bolt, couldnt use as many original parts as i wanted, etc). I know lots of people build their own AK-47s and other simpler guns so it is done.
Okay. I wondered at one point if I could make stripper clips from tin cans. I think it probably could be done, but that isn't anything exciting. I wonder how much work it'd take to prototype the gun after building the CAD model. I wonder what tools it'd take and such. I'd need to buy the tools to make it... I imagine it gets fairly hard too, like with rifling, the bolt carrier, etc. Again I also don't know everything about guns. I see the gun as being a piston based gas operating platform at least, not sure about short-stroke or the other type of gas piston. I also need to check again how to ensure absolutely that it will be semi-automatic only. Gotta make the sears and all that work too. Sorry for all my ramblings.
That depends on what kind of gun. Depending on what you're doing, you can design a stamped receiver and build a jig to fold it yourself, which is what people do with AKs. You can save yourself some machine work by designing it to use parts from other guns where possible. Then you only need to get specific parts custom made. This would be sufficient for a proof of concept. Although I should advise you against trying to build a working firearm if you don't know much about the metalworking that goes into it. You can easily create a pipe bomb on accident.
Yeah, but is it really very feasible for it? For one it is a bull-pup.
Not knowing what you're doing I couldn't safely advise you on how to make it real. But if they managed to make the Mars pistol work back in the day it can be done with computer assistance.
Well I know how to make a bolt-action easy enough, but that's really simple and not all that complicated. In terms of such like the locking lugs, and all that. But I see what you mean with metalworking, it would be bad if the metal were to become brittle and shatter upon firing or something.
It's not a muzzle break, it's a flash hider. It's standard on model 1261.
Flash hider. You know, for all that flash 22lr makes.
Flash hider. You know, for all that flash 22lr makes.
It's there so the threaded barrel ships with something.
[t]http://images.esellerpro.com/2269/I/668/0/ThreadP_2.jpg[/t]
As deep as the threads are I would rather have the flash hider, also it looks cooler.
Went and shot the M10 today. It kicks so hard. I ended up putting a recoil pad on it because it hurt so bad.
My new P938 shot pretty well. I think I'll be using it as my summer carry.
