There was a Lee Enfield No.4 in Rhodie camo at the gun store for $400. I don't know if it was a hick job or not but I really, really want it. It had optics on what looked like a correct dovetail mount.
New camera means new (mostly missing) family picture, right? These are my four main shooting guns I use when I go plinking, although I've been shooting my 7600 a lot, too, which isn't in the photo since I didn't feel like cracking open the safe for the rest of my lesser-shot guns.

So I heard Australia is trying to ban lever actions now because some TV channel ran a spot on a "tactical" lever-action shotgun and everyone was shitting their pants at the fear-mongering.
Well I went shooting for my first time today. Shot a USP compact 9 mill and a Romanian AK47. Put 50 of the 9 mill down range, and 60 of the AK. I had soooo much fun, it was an incredible experience.
Definitely buying my own when i turn 21, and im really suprised at how at the recoil of both guns. I expected heavy, shoulder hurting recoil, but i had no problem with either gun and i was shooting comfortably by the second mag.
Welcome to the world of shooting. I give you a few years and you'll be like the rest of us hoarders, scavenging for .22 and selling your mom for a chance at a legal fun-switch.

Apparently shot in Western Australia.

They naturally stretch to such lengths while hanging from their drop trees.
So I got a Ruger 10/22, and I absolutely love it. I'm going to be doing some small game hunting, and need a small, relatively inexpensive scope to go with it.
I don't know the first thing about scopes, though. I tried to look them up, and all I saw was a bunch of numbers and millimeter designations. I'm not sure what to look for.
I also have those screw-on rails that came in the box with the 10/22. Would those work, or do I need those little ring things? I honestly know nothing about scopes. Does anyone have any recommendations?

you can pick up a $5 tasco scope at walmart for 22's. Thats your best bet, unless you wan to do some tactical bullshit.

Put the guns in storage, won't be able to see them again for probably 90 days :(
$25 Simmons 4x12. Can't go wrong with them. I've used it on my Marlin for years and I love it over the Leupold on my .30. You get what you pay for, yes, but a .22 isn't going to be a super shooter. I've never had fogging issues out of my Simmons, it's bright enough to shoot from about 7am onwards until about six in the evening for small game, and it's accurate enough to hit your target.
don't buy the cheapest shit you find. buy something that actually will last..
one 100 dollar scope is better than buying four 25 dollar scopes that break the second time you use them.
buy some ok rings that mount to the weaver rail and go shoot. BSA rings or something like that are good for .22s.
buying a cheapshit scope is probably ok for the retards that only shoot tin cans at five metres, but if you do actual hunting you should buy something that's clear, bright, and reliable enough to actually hunt with. no use buying a cheap tasco if it fogs up the second you go out, or the reticle wanders over to the next county

in case you didn't figure it out-
the rail that came with the rifle is a weaver rail.
you need to buy weaver rings that mount onto the rail.
scopes have varying diameters of the tube, 1 inch, 30mm, and 34mm are the most common.
i assume you'll get a 1 inch one.
therefore,
1-inch weaver rings that are tall enough to fit whatever scope you get.
any 24mm or 30mm, 32mm, 36mm opening scope are just fine with medium rings, probably low too, but be aware that bigger ones (42mm +) probably will need tall ones.
just ask whomever you buy it from. maybe bring the scope too
my cz452 has a bushnell 3-9x42mm scope that i'll replace soon. medium rings, with the rear sight taken off. to keep the rear sight on i would need tall rings.
This is perfect, thank you for all the information!
4x12? whatnow?
4x12 scopes? Basic hunting scopes, generally 4x12x40mm.

Sorry, I forgot who I was talking with and how nitty-gritty you have to be otherwise you're a fool who knows nothing. Won't happen again.
Hey prusse what kind of optics are u going to put on that staple gun
Yes, but is there anyone else here who didn't know what I was talking about when I say 4x12?

The musket style stock on your Krag is the best.
Yes, but is there anyone else here who didn't know what I was talking about when I say 4x12?
Yes, I thought you meant a fixed 4 power with a 12mm objective, which I immediately thought was strange because I've never heard of such a silly scope.
I'm going to have to agree with Prusse here, the right way is 4-12x40, since x indicates "by" and - indicates "to," and the way scope specs are said is "4 to 12 by 40"
Yes, but is there anyone else here who didn't know what I was talking about when I say 4x12?
to be honest yes, but it doesn't excuse prusse being kind of rude.
I think my Rossi 410 looks better with the wood forend.

LOL, It was either this or it looked like an AR-15's retarded single shot cousin. My uncle made this into a legal sawed off, barrel is 18.5 but with the wooden grip it looks illegal as hell, so I keep they tactical buttstock on it, change out the forends occasionally.
sorry that i corrected your blatant mistake :)

I'm digging that silver gun you have there, whats it fire, 2.5mm double tipped caseless?
In all seriousness, your Krag is fackin bootiful. I nearly bought a fudded Krag at a pawnshop a few months ago for $500. Was still functioning fine, just had a sporterized stock. Sorta regret it now.
What year is it? It's in good shape.
e: Oh, 1906.
Must be worth a fortune in that kind of shape, unless it's been refurbished. I have a couple centenarian guns but neither are that pretty.
400's what I paid for my beat up old side by side (incidentally, also a 1906). If I wanted a Krag and yours was priced at 800 I probably wouldn't think twice. Granted, I guess they're probably more common in Norway than they are here.
