When I was a kid, my parents didn't buy me shit. I bought a 1991 Pontiac Sunbird for $1400 at auction. It worked for 2 weeks then the whole engine block melted into a singularity. I then saved again and bought a 1999 GMC Jimmy SLC for $6,500. It turned out to have a huge oil leak, only 2 engine mounts and the differential went out in 6 months and caused the wheels to seize and blow up the rear tires and it flipped on its side. I would get the civic. IF your parents are paying for it.... seriously, whats it matter, odds are they will pay for your gas too right? So...
>1996 Jimmy >Two engine mounts That's how it's supposed to be.
I have a 98 Honda civic EX, I couldn't ask for a better daily driver. I don't know about the new ones though.

I'm actually considering one of the new civics for my first car. A 1.4 is only insurance group 4 (I'm in the UK) so hopefully it shouldn't be too bad, right?
Here in the US they have high insurance premiums because they have high theft rates. Plus, you can get decent wheels for the same or less.
Goddamn, learn to take care of your cars you sorry piece of shit.
I did. The first had 250,000 miles on it and refused to start every other day. The Jimmy wound up needing $4,000 in repairs right after i bought it from a private seller. Turns out he managed to get it airborn and wrecked the front end, then replaced the body panels to make it look good. And by two mounts total I was including the transmission. The others were broken, among other things. Also I do know how to take care of my shit, I've owned 6 cars since then and never had a problem as bad as they had ever been.
when i got my license I drove my dads 06 chevy avalanche (not all the time) fuckin sick truck, it was worth about 50,000 cause it had every option available i was so lucky to even drive it
"Our Son has just turned 17, let's buy him a 5.7L V8!"
I've had friends whose parents used this logic their kids are dead now.
Just don't get into that bullshit ricer mentality that they're the wonders of the modern mechanical world. They're simple, low power 4cyl engines, they're designed to be reliable and economical. They're not fast without extensive modification.
fun to drive i feel like im going to fucking die in the 94' civic when on the causeway to AC ;_; [editline]23rd June 2011[/editline] badass feeling yo.
Hahahaha, I totally feel you when it comes to AC compressors. I never, ever use the AC in my miata cause it robs what feels like 50hp at the wheels. What's even worse is when I'm cornering and the compressor kicks in and makes me lose grip.
AC as in atlantic city :v:
Yeah, what even is an AC compressor? My car doesn't have one of those. None of my cars have one of those.
Mine does. It's just dead weight though.
My Civic has working AC and it is a 1995 model :smug:
My Civic's AC just broke, it blows scalding hot air. It has been breaking 100 degrees every day recently :smith:
My Civic's AC just broke, it blows scalding hot air. It has been breaking 100 degrees every day recently :smith:
What year is your car?
My Civic's AC just broke, it blows scalding hot air. It's not expensive, look into it - for now, nothing to do other than roll down the windows and keep wet towels around
AC as in atlantic city :v:
Hahah! My bad, totally misinterpreted what you said! But on the topic of AC compressors...
Yeah, what even is an AC compressor? My car doesn't have one of those. None of my cars have one of those.
The AC compressor is a belt driven device that compresses hot air into (usually) copper tubes and quickly cools it. Basically the heart of your air conditioning. Any car with air conditioning has one, and they're easy to spot due to the clutch pulley usually being right on the front.

I was expressing my absence of the device in a sarcastic manner as if to seem ignorant. :smug:

Also freon just doesn't go bad.
I know what they are. I was expressing my absence of the device in a sarcastic manner as if to seem ignorant. :smug:
Guess I shouldn't post when I'm half awake.
The problem with just recharging your AC is that most of the time you have a leak otherwise the freon wouldn't have escaped. Also freon just doesn't go bad.
Well, in that case, try to find the leak.
Guess I shouldn't post when I'm half awake.
It's all good, you're still cool in my book. If I had a book.
Well, in that case, try to find the leak.
You try and find a leak in tubing that only has to be big enough for a gas to leak out of. They are almost impossible you have to have the dyes and stuff.
I lived in italy for 5 years, and everyone seemed to drive this one fucking type of car i can't remember it shit this is killing me and not its not a smart car [editline]24th June 2011[/editline] fucking fiat. get a motherfucking fiat.
