If for some odd reason you got shot in the dick while you had a boner wouldn't you like die REALLY fast?
You just got shot in the dick, stop worrying about dying, it's a minimal problem. :v:
It has to depend on what kind of gun you was shot with, and where at. Some guns are designed for different things.
Well, not most, but.. Yeah, you've got a point here.
No, I'm not thinking of SWAT only.
And I definately don't watch too much movies.
I'm not going to acknowledge wikipedia, sorry.
I survived a headshot from a gau-8
Expanding on what lankist has said about the legal side of things, it's a huge risk to the safety of officers and civilians to shoot "to disable" instead of kill. As I explained in my earlier post, the idea of shooting a CV system (such as lungs or the heart, either way, the center mass) is to put a man out of a fight as quickly as possible. Shoot anywhere else, and you're not only risking aiming at a smaller target under a stressful situation, but you're also risking the combatant being able to fight back.
Doing something ridiculous like shooting them in the kneecaps or trying to aim for their hand would put you and other's lives at risk. A suspect who has been shot in the chest and experiences Nervous System failure, CANNOT shoot back. A suspect who has kneecapped CAN shoot back.
You decide what you want in a life or death situation.
Double agreed, this man knows his stuff. You've also got to think, smaller areas like hands, knees, arms, the bullet is more likely to go straight through, and could possibly hit a civilian; thicker areas might catch a bullet.
The immediate danger that presents itself to a shooting victim is blood loss. So when it comes to post-impact survival rates it varies greatly depending on the conditions.
-Point of impact.
Organ hits aren't necessarily the most dangerous (in the immediate sense). People have been hit in kidneys, the stomach, guts, liver, etc. and survived because they lasted long enough to get medical care. They would need transplants and extensive surgery. Getting hit in the heart and living to tell about it is near impossible because of all the blood you would lose immediately. By contrast a leg or arm hit can be much more dangerous than some believe, if the bullet hits a major artery.
-Caliber.
Some guns do a lot more damage than others. Tons of people have been accidentally hit by .22LR or birdshot and lived to tell about it. The survival rates with calibers such as 30.06, 45-70 Gov't., .50BMG and so on tend to be a lot worse. Even getting hit with a 9mm as opposed to a .45ACP can make a difference. Also in terms of damage guns that penetrate all the way through create more lethal hits because you suddenly have two orifices to bleed out of, but guns that pack a lot of punch and little pierce (such as the .45) will pack more punch and the shock from the impact would stop most opponents from continuing the fight.
-Luck of the draw.
Some bullets tumble or fragment on impact, some "keyhole" into their target, others just have erratic wound channels. With some calibers, where they go after they enter is totally unpredictable. If you get hit with buckshot for instance there is simply no telling exactly what those pellets will do. If you are very lucky very few will hit major organs or arteries. If you aren't lucky, they will hit almost nothing but.
-Willpower.
Some people can take it better than others. They can hold out longer with severe injuries. It is never really consistent. Some can even take a few hits without noticing because they are on a huge adrenaline high.
Yes.
Now shut the fuck up.
I wonder, how much can a human do, if he got a fatal bullet wound? For example, many know that if in a shootout, one guy shoots another in the heart and he drops, the dying guy often still has enough power to lift a gun and shoot his killer.
Considering only those shots that would kill a person unless threated immediately, this seems to depend on willpower and stamina, so one guy would just fall down and bleed to death, and other would be able to dial ambulance, and sometimes you can keep walking for a minute with six holes in you.
Sometimes bullet holes are not fatal, even if they hit a vital organ, and sometimes they don't hit anything important, but often people die of blood loss anyway.
So, what does Facepunch doctor say about bullet wounds?
Still had the power to get up and shoot his killer's head off.
The pain would probably incapacitate you, unless your adrenaline holds out for long enough for you to escape the danger.
No not really. Your body would go into shock and shock = barely feel any pain for a few minutes.
If it was fatal, he would be dead
What if you get shot in the ass? I mean, in out in out, four holes, both cheeks.
Still able to walk?
It greatly depends on penetration, angle of trajectory, and velocity. You can get shot in the arm and just bitch about it, or get shot in the elbow and blow your arm apart. You can get shot repeatedly and be fine in a week, or get shot in the thigh and get hit in the artery and bleed out.
You apparently haven't saw pineapple express...
If your shot in a non lethal place, like your leg/foot, even your stomach (like a very specific place on the stomach) you can probably live and still have enough energy to maybe limp your way to a hospital or to get help.
[editline]11:49AM[/editline]
Cops use pressure/key points in the body like joint to take down perps using neutralizing shots. Shoulder, elbows, knees, feet, hands
Not even Special Forces are trained to do that, infact they're actively discouraged from it, why? Because hitting those places, on a moving target is quite difficult, and thus even trying that puts the shooter and others in danger for much longer, pretty much the standard rule for any cop/soldier etc using a firearm is shoot for the place you're most likely to hit, centre mass.

Happened to a british soldier (it's on youtube somewhere) he was able to carry on driving the vehicle he was driving, carry on standing and even walk, here's the vid

when you're shot you suffer from an extreme drop in blood pressure, making your heart work harder and the flow to vital organs is slowed

Someone lived that one. :p
the jugular is a vein; the carotid is an artery. cutting open the jugular vein is usually fatal, not because it spurts, but just because of the large volume of blood carried through it. it is possible to survive a jugular vein cut, if proper first aid is applied and you receive medical attention from paramedics within two minutes
i think the carotid artery does bleed out in a matter of seconds though

Get your aorta cut, you're completely fucked.
It's all extremely variable!
Depends how much HP you got left.

I've seen a video where a guy tried to do that, but it split his face open and he was still alive. :aaaaa:
Well, if you get shot in the stomach, you can stay alive for 15-20min at the most
People have survived for hours, even days after being shot in the stomach.

That's because Courtney love shot him.

and judging by your avatar the nice docters let you keep your sanity in a Jar?
movies are stupid, you die when you get hit pretty much anywhere. The heart, the lungs, even the bladder
Well 50 Cent didn't get the memo when he got shot 9 times at once
Depends where you get shot.
Arm/leg wounds are best, you can still get around with them.
As long as it doesn't rupture any major blood vessels or organs you should still live.
As long as it doesn't rupture any major blood vessels or organs you should still live.
And it doesn't get infected.
And it doesn't get infected.
