Depends on type of round, shot placement and calibre.
FMJ/Hollowpoint are designed to do different things.
Most burglars get up and run away after being shot, even if they are hit in the torso area. Gunshot wounds to the torso are usually fatal due to internal organ trauma/bleeding. But you're usually able to run away.
Ofcourse these types of shootings are usually with lower calibre handgun rounds.
Getting hit with a .45 is like getting smacked in the stomach with a tire iron that has concrete attached to the end. Most people usually go down after getting hit by one of those and don't get back up on their own.
Limb shots are pretty survivable as long as you don't hit any major arteries.

It depends where and how much adrenaline your body releases. I knew a guy who was getting picked up by a friendly heli in Vietnam. As he and his buddy were running to the chopper in the field, a jeep with a mounted turret on the back was chasing them down from behind. He took a shot in the lower back, and just got back up and kept running. It depends how bad you want to survive.
