good period piece please not jane eyre(? ? ??) already saw it
Any particular time period you're looking at?
good period piece please not jane eyre(? ? ??) already saw it
Room with a view. I love that film as it captures something rather English and special. If you want something a bit more warlike then try out The Duellists.
good period piece please not jane eyre(? ? ??) already saw it
Period would really help, but if you're not specific: There Will Be Blood - Late 1800s Unforgiven - Late 1800s The Godfather - 1940s
oh theres more than one period??? SHIT i just thhought it was specifically jane austen etc
Blood is more of a general period piece. The other two are much more genre films.
blood is a fantastic movie but I meant more along the lines of sense and sensibility/marie antoinette etc my mistake
Yeah, period pieces typically take place in a more historical context, like say, the '50s. Speaking of which, A Serious Man is another pretty good period film taking place in the '60s.
good period piece please not jane eyre(? ? ??) already saw it
The Artist.
good period piece please not jane eyre(? ? ??) already saw it
The Piano is a good film. also Vera Drake. Both painful both great.
Black Dynamite :v:
Already seen it except twice
Already seen it except twice
Shaft, then
blood is a fantastic movie but I meant more along the lines of sense and sensibility/marie antoinette etc my mistake
And for along the lines of Sense and Sensibility, try The Age of Innocence.
Castle of Cagliostro
Can someone recommend some good documentaries? Preferably not about politics or nature.
Can someone recommend some good documentaries? Preferably not about politics or nature.
The Parking Lot Movie was really enjoyable. Craigslist Joe is cool too.
the twilight zone movie
Probably should have seen that one coming. I heard the movie wasn't worth watching in comparison to the show.
This isn't really a movie, but are there any movies that have a Twilight Zone quality? Love the series, trying to find more things like it.
The Outer Limits, it's a show
Can someone recommend some good documentaries? Preferably not about politics or nature.
Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse
Night Gallery, too, if you want shows. Alfred Hitchcock Presents is another good one.
Some really good American Civil War movies. (I've already seen "Glory.")
Some really good American Civil War movies. (I've already seen "Glory.")
The Patriot the new Lincoln with daniel day-lewis Gettysburg 1993 (with George Lazenby cameo) Nothing much
The Killer Angels.
Can someone recommend some good documentaries? Preferably not about politics or nature.
Exit through the gift shop Starts as a fly on the wall docu about street and graffiti art and becomes something much more entertaining. A must see and one of those where you're not sure who the joke is on.
Is it alright to ask about TV shows in this thread? I'll go ahead and do it anyway. Can anyone recommend something that can compete with The Wire, Breaking Bad or Oz in quality? It needs to have an overarching plot-line and not just a problem of the week sort of thing. I don't really mind the theme but something crime/mystery based would be nice.
A movie to watch with my gf. She likes: The hunger games, Avatar, Red riding hood, Snow white and the huntsman, Lord of the rings.
Can someone recommend some good documentaries? Preferably not about politics or nature.
Jiro Dreams of Sushi.
Twin Peaks is exactly what you are looking for.
I actually had that in mind but put off watching it. I will get on that shit right now. [editline]28th January 2013[/editline] Any other recommendations for when I'm done? I get through TV shows like a person who watches TV shows almost constantly all day gets through TV shows.

It's essentially a show about a biker gang, and while there are sometimes short term problems, most of them are dealt with over multiple episodes. Anything similar to Trainspotting in terms of drug related plot-lines?
A science fiction film with an interesting (non Earth) setting, alien megastructres are a plus, something along the Lines of Outland is perfect? Preferably not Aliens, Star Treks, Space Odysseys or Star Wars. Edit: Dark City is a great film but I guess I'm looking more for something tonally similar to Sunshine, Moon, Event Horizon, Pitch Black, Dune, Pandorum, Solaris, Supernova, or Cargo where the science fiction setting is slightly more integral to the film. Sorry for the big list.
A science fiction film with an interesting (non Earth) setting, alien megastructres are a plus? Preferably not Aliens, Star Treks or Star Wars.
dark city, but then i've spoilt the film :v:
