All Quiet on the Western Front (1970s) Classic story of a man driven by national and societal pressure to fight a pointless war. A story of a truly lost generation.
wait, were people talking about this or the 30s one?
It's just that after I hear about it, it's the first thing I think when I see him. Sure, I can judge him as an actor if I watch one of his movies, but if I'm just surfing channels and I see a trailer with him in it it's just a natural reaction that I'm gonna think "oh, it's THAT guy"
They act for a reason. The characters they portray in movies is not who they are... for the most part. I really wish actors would develop some sort of actor code where they would reveal as little about themselves as possible so that the audiences can better immerse themselves in their performances. This wouldn't negate the influences of their previous acting experiences so perhaps this wouldn't have as much as of an affect.
wait, were people talking about this or the 30s one?
I've heard the 30s one is the version to watch. [editline]3rd April 2013[/editline]
Dear god you guys sure are into this defending Mel Gibson thing I was just stating my opinion on the guy, he's done worse than that as I've heard And what does Polanski have to do with this
I'm only into it because I absolutely despise it when people comment that they aren't going to watch a movie solely because there's an actor or an actress in it that they don't like. It's one thing if they don't like the way the actor takes on roles or something, but it's totally different when they won't watch a movie because they thing the actor is a dickhead or something. Sure, some people deserve the hate they get for their personal actions, but that shouldn't mean that the hate transfers over to how they do their job.
Can anyone recommend me some eerie/mystery science fiction films in the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Sphere, Solaris and Forbidden Planet?
Can anyone recommend me some eerie/mystery science fiction films in the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Sphere, Solaris and Forbidden Planet?
Moon is sort of along these lines. Maybe even Even Horizon but that's more horror than eerie.
Moon is sort of along these lines. Maybe even Even Horizon but that's more horror than eerie.
Thanks for the reply but I watched them too. Forgot to add them in the list, sorry. I wouldn't mind horror.
Event Horizon is good if you don't mind horror. Same with Pandorum.
Anyone know of some Psycopath movies, the likes of The Poughkeepsie Tapes?
Silence of the Lambs Manhunter/Red Dragon
Anyone know of some Psycopath movies, the likes of The Poughkeepsie Tapes?
Silence of the Lambs, The Cell [editline]5th April 2013[/editline]
Can anyone recommend me some eerie/mystery science fiction films in the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Sphere, Solaris and Forbidden Planet?
Definitely Event Horizon. Though it leans a bit towards gore-y horror at times.
Anyone know of some Psycopath movies, the likes of The Poughkeepsie Tapes?
Also, if you don't mind TV Shows, Hannibal. Just started on NBC and its on at 10 on Thursdays. I don't mean to throw all this Hannibal Lecter stuff at you, but for psychopaths, they have them up the ying-yang.
Anyone know of some Psycopath movies, the likes of The Poughkeepsie Tapes?
Se7en
How could I forget Se7en?
Can anyone recommend me some eerie/mystery science fiction films in the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Sphere, Solaris and Forbidden Planet?
If you're not keeping specific to outer space Sci-Fi, I would recommend you watch The Thing from 1982, it's a rather disturbing film but the thing that adds to the eeriness the most would be the Practical effects, if they had been done in CG, I wouldn't have enjoyed the films as much.
Yeah, The Thing is just brilliant.
Yeah it's one of my all time faves. I dunno,I guess I'm just yearning for some good eerie/mystery/horror sci fi films. Recent ones I've watched were Prometheus and Apollo 18 and they weren't great.

Only one person. Tom Cruise. I hate that man and I hate most of his movies. Oblivion interests me enough that I will watch it despite Tom Cruise being the lead, though.
Got to admit theres a couple of actors that stop me watching films. Steve Carrell and Vince Vaughn are 2 sausage wallets that would stop me watching a film unless the buzz suggested something different to their usual unfunny films. Not really any real actors that would stop me watching.
The only actors that would make me not watch a movie are unfunny guys like Adam Sandler or Tyler Perry, I can tolerate Steve Carrell tho
Can anyone recommend me some eerie/mystery science fiction films in the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Sphere, Solaris and Forbidden Planet?
Planet of the Apes (1968), Sunshine, Alien, Westworld (Maybe?), Moon you've probably already seen all of them though
