Can someone recommend me a movie?
Start at the top of the IMDB top films and work your way down. Everyone has some personal oddities that are not in the list but its still a good place to start if you want to see the classics. Arthouse and indie film don't get too much representation there but maybe thats not your thing anyway.
anything like in the mouth of madness
anything like in the mouth of madness
You mean like lovecraftian horror?
Are there any movies with a similar theme to the "Watch Dogs" game? the only thing I can think of is the movie Hackers but thats not really what Im looking for.
You mean like lovecraftian horror?
dont know what that means but sure why not
Particularly good movies on the Iraq/Afghanistan war like Hurt Locker.
Particularly good movies on the Iraq/Afghanistan war like Hurt Locker.
What? Hurt Locker is not a good movie lol
Looking for a mystery movie. Really dig that.
Looking for a mystery movie. Really dig that.
Most of the Hitchock's movies (Vertigo, Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, Rope, North by Northwest, etc.) Basically any noir, specifically Billy Wilder's films (Sunset Blvd., Witness for Prosecution, Double Indemnity, Ace in the Hole). If you are tired of American noir, you can check French (Le Samouraï), German (M), or Japanese (Stray Dog, my favourite Kurosawa's film).
Particularly good movies on the Iraq/Afghanistan war like Hurt Locker.
I don't know of many other current Iraq War films apart from Zero Dark Thirty- which I have not seen- but there are Gulf War oriented films such as Jarhead and Three Kings.
Particularly good movies on the Iraq/Afghanistan war like Hurt Locker.
do you want a good film or a biased film pick one
I need a good science fiction movie, any suggestions?
Particularly good movies on the Iraq/Afghanistan war like Hurt Locker.
Three Kings was awesome, not the same war but still relevent. I want to see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redacted_%28film%29 also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Zone_(film)
What? Hurt Locker is not a good movie lol
I quite enjoyed it, plus it seemed to get fairly good reviews. You're making it sound like it would be wrong or something to like it.
I need a good science fiction movie, any suggestions?
Blade Runner Tron Tron: Legacy Prometheus Alien Aliens The Terminator Terminator 2: Judgement Day Total Recall Dredd Serenity 2001: A Space Odessy District 9 Oblivion (still in theaters) [editline]6th May 2013[/editline] That's about all I can name off the top of my head. [editline]6th May 2013[/editline] Event Horizon Pandorum Those two as well.

[editline]6th May 2013[/editline] Event Horizon Pandorum Those two as well.
Had to take off Prometheus because, well, thats just a bad movie imo. Here's some others you missed Dark City Mad Max Starship Troopers The Butterfly Effect The City of Lost Children Men in Black I & II Star Wars Avatar (for eye candy) I Am Legend The Matrix Predator Robocop
You didn't include Dredd or Starship Troopers 3
You didn't include Dredd or Starship Troopers 3
Dread was on the guy I quoted's list, and Starship Troopers just means watch all of them
Hey where's Men in Black 3?
I Am Legend
You thought that was better than Prometheus? :/
So what are the good war movies? I'm thinking of the stuff that doesn't suffer form the "good war" syndrome or otherwise overly romanticizes war (or any one side of the conflict). Like, not Saving Private Ryan?
You thought that was better than Prometheus? :/
Not really but whatever
anything like in the mouth of madness
Thats quite a unique film but the only one I can think of is Adrien Lyne's brilliant 'Jacobs Ladder' with Tim Robbins playing a role thats slightly different for him. Hope that helps

Like, not Saving Private Ryan?
Apocalypse Now is pretty blunt, if you want a Miniseries, Band of Brothers. (The Pacific was okay, but far inferior imo), Full Metal Jacket, Enemy at the Gates, 9th Company, maybe Platoon but that's kind of out there. Battle of Britain and Tora Tora Tora are pretty good. Letters from Iwo Jima maybe? Kind of annoying that we don't have very many before 1300CE movies. Really all there is is Kingdom of Heaven and Troy, both of which are pretty but their glaring historical inaccuracies drive me absolutely bonkers. [editline]6th May 2013[/editline]
Hey where's Men in Black 3?
That movie was just bad imo
any specific war? because if you're going to watch 'nam movies, you must (by law) watch apocalypse now, platoon and hamburger hill. all others are optional.
They really need to make some more really good war/sci-fi movies and TV shows. I'm tired of all this tidly crap being pushed out recently.

Like, not Saving Private Ryan?
'Generation Kill' by HBO is great. 'Platoon' is good too So is 'Apocalypse Now' And 'Taegugki: The Brotherhood of War' I was about to say 'Band of Brothers' but you said 'not Saving Private Ryan' so I'm not sure you'll like it or not 'Patton' is pretty good 'The Deer Hunter' is great So is 'Full Metal Jacket' '9th Company' is alright 'Casualties of War' is alright too 'The Thin Red Line' is good but a lot of people find this boring but whatever 'Stalingrad' is great So is 'Cross of Iron' 'Paths of Glory' is old gold 'Born on the Fourth of July' is pretty good. Done by Oliver Stone who also did Platoon and Heaven and Earth 'Letters from Iwo Jima' is good That's all the good war movies I can remember right now that doesn't try to romanticize war or tries its best not to.
thx babe
Yup sorry for not saying anything. Just couldn't remember a good film that had similar themes to that Carpenter film until jewdozer mentioned Jacob's Ladder. You won't be disappointed.
Yeah I suggest you steer away from Patton since you don't want war romanticized
