Any sort of humorous crime movies like oceans 11, lock stock and two smoking barrels or snatch. Stuff with con-artists are good too.
I'm currently looking for some really good sci-fi movies and series. I'm really interested in series but there are so many and it's quite difficult for me to define which one are good or bad.

X files, Battlestar Galactica and the Twilight Zone. Yeah I don't watch tv that much these days. EDIT: Oops that should be 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' instead of 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrel'
As an official fanboy I have to add Stargate, Lost, and Fringe to that TV list
Wow can't believe I left them out.

Any movies like Prometheus? I don't really see the hate for it, and the scenery, alien design and sci fi aspects of it were hnng good
There Will Be Blood
I know this is a few days old but The Master fits this as well
Any movies like Prometheus? I don't really see the hate for it, and the scenery, alien design and sci fi aspects of it were hnng good
If you haven't seen Alien, do it now.
Recomend me something on the line of sweet smell of success and glengarry
I bought a pair of sunglasses and feel shit about my appearance when I look in the mirror, I need a teen outcast feel good comedy, like Youth in Revolt please :(
I haven't seen Youth in Revolt, but Ferris Bueller's Day Off and/or The Breakfast Club might help.
Any sort of humorous crime movies like oceans 11, lock stock and two smoking barrels or snatch. Stuff with con-artists are good too.
Layer Cake
Recomend me something on the line of sweet smell of success and glengarry
Glengarry glen ross is an amazing piece of work. I've recommended 'The Player' from Rob Altman before on here and that would fit within the theme you request. The Sting would be another. Nine Queens would be a wild card.
I'm looking for something mathematical or political to watch... movies like Moneyball or Waiting for Superman
The Ides of March is a good political movie.
Movies with very climatic reveal of any kind. Something like in final scene in Usual Suspectes, "Detective!" in Se7en or latest episode of Facepunch's favourite TV show - Game of Thrones ([sp]scene where Catalyn hears the music and realizes what's going on[/sp])?
A movie like The breakfast club. Something that plays on the social interactions of people.

I'm looking for a really bombastic sci-fi movie to watch with a friend on Sunday. Preferably something with scenes akin to those from the movie Sunshine in which you just get to stare at the sun in all of its raw power for a few seconds every now and again. Something with - preferably - some really big, mindblowing, crazy, astronomical scale scenes. Also intense... well, bombastic music would be great too, but that's not a must I suppose. I have this really distinct memory of a movie I saw years and years ago and there's a shot of some barren, alien world with a blue giant looming on the horizon dominating like 50% of the sky. Something like that would be great, but I can't for the life of me remember what that movie was called, or what it was about. [editline]5th June 2013[/editline] Nothing too freaky, though. Mind altering substances may be consumed prior to viewing.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
he said europe, not england. time bandits would be a better example.
Could be Pitch Black, there's a number of different suns and planets on view at various points
And, if you do choose Pitch Black, try The Chronicles of Riddick after that. That really fits the bombastic bill.
Is 'Taken' a great movie? Considering watching it on Netflix
Is 'Taken' a great movie? Considering watching it on Netflix
watch it with a friend or two. it's qui-gon jinn pretending he's james bond. and being exceedingly efficient at it.
I've always wondered if there are any good horror-mystery films that feature a mostly unseen "evil" that hates everything? Ju-On and Ringu being the most notable examples. Paranormal Activity falls into this category as well. I suppose it doesn't necessarily need to be that narrow, because the main reason I like these kind of films is because I'm not really a fan of the type of "action-horror" involving a guy in a spooky mask and a chainsaw chasing teenagers around; a threat stays scarier the less of it you see.
Very late reply but try Pontypool. It's a interesting twist on the zombie genre and they go with the less is more style you like. Plus it's on netflix (last I checked).

I recently watched Reincarnation (2005), a Japanese horror movie pretty much featuring that hidden evil/curse trope. It was quite good; even though it has a lot of the standard pick-and-mix tropes of typical Asian horror, it puts them together differently.
