Yeah, I heard it was a bit pathetic.
I need a good horror/thriller. Me and two other friends meet up every halloween and we all get to choose one movie and then we all watch them in one night. I need a preferably new one, not too long, and of course, pants-shitting scary.

After it got going, I found myself unable to keep watching it on my own at night without taking breaks to calm myself down. As for the movie itself, it goes through a lot of familiar motions but it had me pretty frightened. It was nicely paced, starts off slow and builds the scares up progressively rather than throwing a ton of jump-scare monsters in your face during the first few minutes.

The Thing (1982) The Evil Dead (Original or Remake, which is actually new) The Evil Dead 2 Alien Event Horizon Pandorum (also on the newer side)
The grey to the thriller horror guy. Seriously it's really fucking good. It's not a scary movie but it does take you on a wild fucking ride. Plus it has Liam neelson being a total badass. Also its ending is amazing.. It's probably a love or hate kind of thing though, as in the ending will be insanely crappy to you or just right. Depends upon on cerebral you like your movies. Also I know I just recommended it but irreversible is pretty fucked up too. I have like a shitload of other recs cause I've just been horror binging myself... Just I don't have a comprehensive list here. There's also one film on the tip of my tongue that would be perfect for sure.. I'm gonna make an effort to remind myself. [editline]13th September 2013[/editline] The road Carrie Slither Battle royale (depends upon who you are) Pi Inland empire Lost highway Mull holland drive Right now I don't have a computer and I could make a list from my old one If it weren't dead. Only my Netflix instant and my memory. Also to me there isn't much of a line between horror films and thriller films because I don't really think I feel fear anymore. Probably why I prefer the cerebral horror over the OHMYGODBLAGH BLOOD ERRYWHERE OMG. That's why some recommendations may not be horror at all.. I'm like genre blind in that area Is the Sammy Jackson version of shaft any good?

The beginning of that movie is insanely cringe worthy. Like I knew I'd eventually see them all brutally murdered but they are all so god damn annoying
Which movie?
[QUOTE=FoodStuffs;42191325]The beginning of that movie is insanely cringe worthy. Like I knew I'd eventually see them all brutally murdered but they are all so god damn annoying[/QUOTE] If you're talking about You're Next, this is the absolute truth. I took a group of friends who didn't want to see it to go see it, and for the first half hour I was getting glared at. I felt swindled. Then the characters started getting killed and we all started laughing, so it was all good. Definitely going in my rotation of horror films. Beginning of that movie gets a straight up F-, rest of the movie gets an a+
Anyone know some damn good heist movies? I'm talking Heat style, where they're all competent and actually pull it off, and it could be plausible to have happened in real life. It would be a bonus if they get away with it but don't tell me if they do or not. I've seen Snatch if that'd count, great movie.
The Town The Way Of The Gun Thief

It's a little bit more quirky and light-hearted though.

I need good cyberpunk films that I haven't seen before. Films that I have seen before: Matrix trilogy GitS & Innocence Cypher Strange Days Akira ...And a couple of others I can't remember.

If you haven't seen them already, you should check out Men in Black I & II As for anime, Ghost in the Shell is a must.

I just can't. Also, Men in Black isn't very cyberpunk, but it is a movie everyone should watch at some point.

Exceedingly good of course, but I didn't think Men in Black was considered Cyberpunk. And I was under the impression that Johnny Mnemonic wasn't that good (despite, you know, Gibson).
JM is a bad movie
Looking for movies which start off in the real world but get more fantastical as it goes. Basically movies like The Matrix, Fight Club and Harry Potter in that they start off with normal people who get dragged into something much greater as the movie goes on. [editline]20th September 2013[/editline] Also looking for movies that are stylistically like Dredd.
Tron and Tron: Legacy Oblivion (the plot is merely okay, but visually it's gorgeous) Star Wars Episodes IV-IV Wanted (another merely okay movie)
Good suggestions, but unfortunately I've seen all of them. [editline]20th September 2013[/editline] [QUOTE=JgcxCub;42246115]I need good cyberpunk films that I haven't seen before. I want to watch some good comedy, but I've seen many of them, so I don't know what to pick. Help please, I wanna have watching session with my buddy, but we don't have anything in mind.

Are there any favorites so we don't recommend movies you've already watched and/or don't like?

Kick Ass, 1 and 2 How to train your dragon Incredibles Me, myself, Irene Mask(1994) Ace Ventura Dumb and dumber Liar, Liar. Fun with Dick and Jane 7 psychopaths Pretty much all recent ones I didn't like(maybe it's slapstick I don't like, or I american humor don't click with me).
Well, have you seen 'The Big Lebowski'? Or maybe 'Airplane' and the 'Naked Gun' movies? 'Blues Brothers' and 'Groundhog Day' are great too but they might not be 'laugh out loud' movies for you. Same with 'Office Space', 'A Fish Called Wanda' or 'Wayne's World' but they're all quality movies.

Thank you!
More comedies. Black Dynamite, Galaxy Quest, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, Monty Python(Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Meaning of Life), Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Dr. Strangelove, Army of Darkness, This is Spinal Tap, Anchorman
Looking for anything like D13, don't really care about language.
If you feel like taking a trip to the cinema you would probably like Elysium as it has the same premise.(poor minority living in slum rising up against oppressive rich people) It even has the same director Oblivion is kind of like D13 too I guess.

It's a great movie.
