The Perks of Being a Wallflower can be a painful watch, as well.
Everybody says that and I agree. Any ideas as to why that film gives people that feeling of emptyness at the end? The Hunt is also a great rec'.
looking for some good movies released within the last year (or two if it's really worth watching) I like anything that isn't horror. thanks!
End of 2012 came a French film called 'In the House', 'Broken Circle Breakdown' from Belgium, Rush and La Passe Iran/France.
Anyone who hasn't seen the Hunt really should. It's #132 on the top 250 list with an 8,3 rating. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2106476/ [editline]31st December 2013[/editline] Really really good.
Do you lovely people know any emotional movies/videos that allow you to feel intensely the emotions that arise in the story, such as grief, joy, anger, fear, sadness, etc.? I don't know any but I need to find some. Thank you Thank you so much, it is greatly appreciated.
Incendes from the director who did Prisoners.
I want to find some out of the way well animated movies. Any help? I don't mind if they're foreign, just no anime.
Just about anything Pixar/Disney, Iron Giant
There's some Dreamworks gems too. How To Train Your Dragon comes to mind (though the experience is slightly hindered without 3D) And if you're a fan of stop motion I suggest Paranorman and Coraline.
By out of the way I mean stuff that isn't the well known stuff. Yes Don Bluth and Ralph Bakshi count too. I want something really really different.
Waltz with Bashir Chico and Rita Persepolis My Beautiful Girl Mari Mary and Max
Renaissance Now, I saw this a while back and don't remember much of it, but it has a pretty cool look to it.
Looking for a modern horror, also looking for movies based on true stories (any genre). And for the horror, try and recommend films which are 'unnoticed' since I've probably watched all recent ones.
for based on a true story i actually really quite enjoyed pain and gain, give it a chance maybe. not overwhelmingly brilliant but remarkably entertaining considering michael bay
The Wolf of Wall Street Goodfellas Casino American Gangster Zodiac All based on true stories.
Looking for some arty surreal philosophical films, suggestions?
Looking for some arty surreal philosophical films, suggestions?
David Lynch, Terrence Malick?
Also in the mood for some deeply emotional (in a reflective and cathartic sense) films too
Looking for some arty surreal philosophical films, suggestions?
Holy Motors, very arty. The Cook the Thief his Wife and her Lover
Also in the mood for some deeply emotional (in a reflective and cathartic sense) films too
Departures, Jap film Perks of being a Wallflower
I found two good contemporary Shakespeare adaptations. "Coriolanus"(2011) and "Macbeth"(2010) If you want to see a shitty Shakespeare adaptation that takes place in modern day than watch the Romeo and Juliet one they made with Leonardo DiCaprio in the 90's.
Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing is another good contemporary version.
I'm looking for more B movies to watch, horror preferably. I forgot to mention, they don't have to be good or bad, any will do.
I'm looking for more B movies to watch, horror preferably. I forgot to mention, they don't have to be good or bad, any will do.
Chernobyl Diaries was pretty cool IMHO

(I saw yesterday)
Seen Dr.Phibes but I'll check out Chernobyl Diaries.
Rubber
Yes, I second that
Also in the mood for some deeply emotional (in a reflective and cathartic sense) films too
The Thin Red Line
And a newer one could be The Hunt, idk if this one could fit on "B" tho, it's indie. (I saw yesterday)
Although the Hunt is a fantastic film, it certainly isn't horror and no way is it a 'b' movie. It's a highly acclaimed Danish film about a man who is accused of being a pedo. Great film all the same.
What are some good sports films? I've seen Space Jam, Coach Carter, the Blind Side, Mighty Ducks 1 2 and 3, Goon. I'd prefer Basketball films, but I don't mind any sport really. [editline]12th January 2014[/editline] I've also seen Waterboy, Undisputed 1 2 and 3, Never Back Down 1 and 2, Warrior.
For the Love of the Game Major League A League of Their Own Bull Durham Moneyball 42 Trouble with the Curve The Natural The Rookie Invincible Million Dollar Baby The Fighter Hoosiers Tin Cup Slap Shot Miracle The majority of them are baseball films, but all are pretty good, for the most part. I haven't seen Invincible or Slap Shot in a while, but I liked them well enough when I saw them, but I can't totally vouch for their quality now.
