A sci-fi action film with humor sparsed through = Starship Troopers
Thats kind of all I can think of. Its a vaguely similar movie, but its one of the best sci-fi films ever made so even if there arent many similarities, you might find it entertaining.
Groundhog Day is a completely different genre but similar concept. Its a good film too, though.
I liked EoT a lot, my favorite of the summer for sure. If youre itching for more of it, there is a manga and light novel of which it was based. Its all good, so yeah.
Sorry I couldnt come up with less well-known films for you to watch, youve probably seen those.
I can basically guarante you that that's not the style he's looking for.
I'm looking for either film or tv that's similar to 24; basically a thriller with lots of twists and betrayals and stuff

Thanks man, have seen Starship Troopers, not groundhog day though. Will consider checking out the book, how similar is the movie to it?

Yeah, EoT has a very specific feel to it that I can't pin down
You haven't seen Groundhog Day? Shit, hop to it!

If you want twisty thrillers, check out Memento and The Game. They'll knock your socks off.

Shaun of the Dead
John Dies at the End
From Dusk Till Dawn
Gremlins
a nightmare on elm street
really any of the noes films are horror/comedy. just don't watch the reboot.
Hatchet is pretty good. Also 2001 Maniacs.
I watched The Trollhunter yesterday, are there any other movies like it? I really liked that movie
Hello friends, I need your guys' expert opinion yet again,
So firstly, I just recently watched The Grand Budapest Hotel and the Life Aquatic and I LOVED both of those movies. Any movies with that kind of feel would be awesome, not specifically directed by Wes Anderson, but just any movie with that feeling. I've only seen those 2 and Fantastic Mr Fox.
Also I want to see some awesome british gangster shit like Snatch or Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels. Anything like that will do.
Also lastly some cool dystopian future movies would be sweet, something like Bladerunner or the Matrix.
Thanks a lot!
For movies similar to Grand Budapest and Life Aquatic, watch The Royal Tenenbaums and The Darjeeling Limited. Yes, they are directed by Wes Anderson, but they have that similar feel and are both very good on their own.
For cool dystopian, try Equilibrium and Dredd.

Children of Men
So a friend and I really liked Cafe de Flore. Normally with how I use Netflix I just go by recommendations since I've rated like 200 movies on there and it actually is pretty accurate at this point, but it's diff when I'm watching/choosing with someone else. I liked Perfect Sense, Womb, and Inch'Allah, and my friend was all over the slow-indie pace of Blue is the Warmest Color, to give you an idea.
Anyone have any ideas similar to those? Doesn't have to be on Netflix instant really.
I'm interested in getting into the James Bond movies, which ones are worth watching?
I'm interested in getting into the James Bond movies, which ones are worth watching?
casino royale best bond
hands down
a bit over the top with the twists but great action and character
better that skyfall, in my opinion.

[sp]For the record, I started this all the way back on page 141. Damn.[/sp]
That is pretty much my summary on the whole series. If you're genuinely interested, watch them all from the beginning, but feel free to skip around the 2s and 3s. Those just ended up being really, really boring or incredibly terrible. 3.5s are good, but they are flawed at their heart.

Also, I had to go back and edit that post because I had forgotten Thunderball. What a pain.
i want something that has horror and comedy in it.
Like The_J_Hat said, Evil Dead II, and also Army of Darkness.

literally watched this for Eva Green
worth it
craig is hot too
[editline]19th September 2014[/editline]
casino royale was disproportionately good
i'm glad I wasn't paying attention back when it came out because I would have only had broken expectations with Quantum of Solace and Skyfall.

i went to see casino royale kind of expecting to not like it for some reason, i was convinced that pierce brosnan was the penultimate bond at the time, but i was blown away by how good it was.
I'm in university now, and my course involves Radio, TV and Film. I've been in it for almost two months and I've come to realize my repertoire in TV and Film is really small. So I want to expand it, starting with Film.
To match up with my History of Film course, I wanna go year by year, starting with the first movies and moving onto today. My plan is to watch the best/most influential films of each year, maybe move onto genres later. Anyone knows where I can find a list like that?
Here's a list for all the Best Picture Winners and Nominees for the Academy Awards.
I know that mostly covers American cinema and it still misses out on brilliant films that never received nominations, but it's a good place to start looking.

Reddit's r/movies did something like that lately, sadly it looks a lot like any other "Top Movies Ever" list. Check out individual years for more diverse propositions.
There's also BFI's Sight & Sound Top List that is often credited as being the most important movie poll of all time, but there's much more older movies than recent.
But still, you're going to miss a lot, if you'll lock yourself on "The best film on one year", mostly because there were a lot years without any groundbreaking or amazing films coming out, and there was years like 1939, 1941, 1952, 1954 or 1994 with plenty of instant classics and films that changed cinema drastically.
A lot of these film lists ignore the films of Alejandro Jodorowski, who I would consider the most important film-maker of all time. Definitely try to fit El Topo and The Holy Mountain in there somewhere. El Topo is easily the best film of 1970 and Holy Mountain is from 1973, and I can't think of anything from '73 that's much better or more influential. The Exorcist is there but I still think Holy Mountain is better.
I'm not going for 'the best movie', but rather 'the best movieS' or 'the most influential movies'.
influential in what way though, there's so much you could say about the effect of film on people that it's an entirely new vocabulary of art.
tbh, the fact that Schindler's List, Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump were made in the same year kind of defeats your quest already.
Imo, just go through genres of movie then build a personal library and judge based on how much effect it's had on you.
This will take 5-10 years though, so good luck ;)
[editline]20th September 2014[/editline]
the colours trilogy was also in the same year too and Natural Born Killers, also Ed Wood. :v:
there's no way you can do "best movie per year for 50 years" and expect to be expert in a jiffy.
I'm not going for 'the best movie', but rather 'the best movieS' or 'the most influential movies'.
Still, sorry to break it to you, but lists of this sorts usually starts around 500-1000 positions.
Shit, I just realized that for future generations in hundred years it will be impossible to watch all of the most important films. What a glorious times we live in.
