Even at extremely close ranges, a bullet or two to the body will bring you down faster than knife ever could. I guess you could get lucky and sever the spinal cord or some lucky occurrence, but that is not probable. Even if you get a stab on the guy knife wounds aren't nearly as serious as gunshot wounds and he will probably live and you probably won't.

Most police departments teach based around a rule called "21 feet" - the rule being that if you're within 21 feet of an attacker with a knife, even if you shoot him, he will still probably be able to stab you before he dies/goes into shock/etc.

Not necessarily, If the guy is quite riled up and you hit him only once or twice in some area that isn't super important it is quite possible for him to keep moving around for a bit. That is why you are supposed to put 3-4 bullets in someone.

I know quite a lot about bullets and the damage they can do. 9MM and .40 S&W seem to be the most common rounds an american police officer will use. That shit will fuck up your day much faster then a knife wound. And it's range is it's potency, as soon as your hit once, you'll be hit again and again and again until you stop. So you run flailing your knife around and see if you make it 21 feet to do your kicking rad sweep and slash the armpits awesome krunx samurai kidney faceplant shit :v:

Even if you are very good, there is still a very small chance of you getting the knife without taking a stab or two. You would have to be facing someone without any manner of fighting skill to pull it off.

Hence why I said ultra low caliber ammo, the custom made ones made for some purse guns. I didn't mean concealed backup pistols. And thank you for ignoring my main part of the post, this is still a thread about knife fighting.
