It's weird being able to connect faces to people you know over the internet. -- I don't really have an opinion on fatness. Some people can't help it others do. But mega overweight people kinda annoy me.. I have a busy week of work and lectures but I have time to socialise, play games, pub, do art and play sport / gym. I see no point in being given an opportunity and then not pursuing it to the best of your ability. I understand it's hard to lose lots of weight but it takes little effort to keep yourself at a reasonable level of fitness. Why be given a body and then just limit yourself? Sorry if my opinion hits a nerve with anyone.

Sorry if my opinion hits a nerve with anyone.
The sad thing is, the people who usually become overly fat are people who are poor. This happens because they are well, poor, and buy a lot of food that is cheap in bulk. They also have to stress a lot more than people who have good jobs they enjoy, and one way to release stress is to eat. And they have an abundance of food. And this food isn't the type that's good for you. Back in the 50's (and earlier) poor people couldn't afford to buy food because it was expensive, and only the rich was fat. Now it has changed, manufacturing food has become a lot easier with extensive use of corn for pretty much everything, this food is however extremely high in calories so it is usually only poor people who buy it because they have to really get the most bang for the buck. Richer people can afford healthier food and doesn't always have to stress as much. Poorer people also usually have to take extra jobs or just spend all their time working, giving them very little spare time to excercise. Social stigma also plays a big part in people getting fat, they may be a bit chubby and the constant pressure of having to look good and slim (thank you media!) makes them feel extremely bad for themselves, and they don't want to go to a gym because they have this paranoia that people will stare and laugh at them. Sadly, it isn't as easy as just telling morbidly obese people to get some excercise. There are a lot of factors that weight in, some that are really hard to fight against. Losing weight takes A LOT of effort, a lot of time and having people that can support you through it all. And it's really, really easy to destroy all you've built up. Letting yourself go for just one day will wreck everything for you, which can be disheartening to say the least. I've been blessed with good genes and also friends who enjoy doing outdoor stuff, which is something not a lot of people can pride themselves with. So no, it isn't as easy as you make it out to be.
Since we're posting picures and I don't have an image of me Imagine somehting like that but with a mohawk.
words.
I never said it was easy, clearly stated it was hard. I was more talking about getting obese. Healthy food is much cheaper. I can make a quick easy meal for much less money than fast food or funk food, although I love stuffing my face with junk food. I can barely afford my rent I'm stressed to hell with deadlines and other things but there is time somewhere to have a 30 minute run. People get fat and chubby and it's fine, but in this day and age there is no excuse (except medical) for the younger generations to be obese.

You can get (shitty) food for a month for very cheap, getting healthy food will cost you more if you want to have the same amount. Just because you can manage to throw in a 30 minute run every now and then doesn't mean others can, it can be really, really tough to get out and run if you work two jobs just to get enough money for the bills. You won't have any energy left to do such things even if it means you'll in the long haul get more energy, it is also a lot easier to just fall down in front of the TV/computer and stuff yourself. There are plenty of 'excuses' for the younger generations to get obese, social pressure, media constantly selling "you have to get thin or NOBODY WILL LOVE YOU YOU FAT FUCK!", and low self-esteem (which usually comes from what I've mentioned earlier) makes people sad. And people who feel sad usually eat shitty food that's filled to the brim with sugar and calories to numb the sadness. Going out and excercising isn't as easy as you make it, you have to be secure in yourself and you have to have a drive that pushes you, something a lot of people lack.
so you're fat right?
Actually, no I'm not! I'm at 182 cm weighting 65 kg, I spend an awful a lot of time playings sports (football mostly during the summer, icehockey during winter and every now and then I play bandy, not the type on ice but inside (I have no idea what the actual sport is called in english :v:)
why are we discussing diet and exercise it's so boring
No clue, it just happened. In other news, hockey season ended last day:

Because buying stuff to make a meal is not expensive. I can feed the 5 members of my flat with less than £5. There is always time to stay fit; do some situp/pushups when you wake up, cycle to work. If that person with two jobs, debts, social pressures isn't fighting to get a better life, and gives up and stuffs food down their trap; wallowing in their own depression it's their OWN GOD DAMN FAULT. --- And this is boring, lets talk about something else? Anyone getting the new foo fighters album tomorrow?
You're completely missing the point, not everyone can be as successful as you, nor do a lot of people have that great of a self confidence.
This is nothing to do with success. In the end they are the only person risking their own health.
boooooooooooooring
This is nothing to do with success. Why does photoshop have to be so expensive? I want to start drawing with it (only doing traditional pen&paper stuff right now beyond writing) but I can't justify buying it for 11 000 SEK, that's like a fuckload of money for something I'm not even sure I'm going to use in a year.
