Violence isn't supposed to be acceptable in the first place, since living beings have a natural resistance to watching pain and death. In other words, just because it's found in nature doesn't mean that kids should be used to it, it'll make them apathetic. Which (warning; hyperbole) can lead to them getting into accidents.

That natural resistance you are talking about is formed in the first 4-6 years of your life. In other words if you were born in a shit place, where people would get killed constantly, you would have no problem with it. I mean every organism is meant to kill and reproduce. Block the one and you focus on the other. And like that the mystery of the brain expansion of the homo erectus is solved.
