Guys I started drawing about a couple of weeks ago and I wondered if there is a book on like color theory or something like that. Like where should I draw the object for the right balance what colours to use to make it pop out etc. Any recommendations(on both what I just said and basic stuff)?
get good at monochrome first. Colour is not that important early into the game.

Where do you guys find your inspiration to draw/take photos? If I had any ideas to draw, I would draw them, but I've been really lazy recently because I have nothing to draw. :eng99:
Chicago
Only one hr difference then xD [editline]11th December 2010[/editline]
Where do you guys find your inspiration to draw/take photos? If I force myself to pop up with something, it is usually pretty bad lol...

Look around, and you'll start noticing that you think to yourself "Man that's cool, I wish I had my camera". Understand that feeling, then go back another day with your camera and wait for the feeling to surface, that you have to take the photo, that something needs to be captured. It isn't about "taking pictures", it's capturing a scene, an object, and instance in time.
I get that "man that would make an awesome photo" feeling a lot, and then I forget that my phone has a decent camera in it (obv. not enough for anything serious, but I'm not a photographer).
digital sketching is a load of balls you can't hold a pen right with a tablet and it's too thick i can't wait for them to improve on that shit because it's fucking annoying. That's why I'm a pencil whore pencils are fast, light, efficient, and you can do almost anything with them.
I can agree with it being thick. Other than that... I just need to get a nice camera. I've been looking through the creative drawings thread and some of them are really great. I want to know how you guys find your inspiration because I just see some great artwork on pieces of paper and I've never done anything like that due to lack of inspiration.

If I'm out of ideas and I want to draw I just usually start throwng lines on paper and then something comes out of that.
just because you're crap with pencils doesn't make them not fucking awesome
I think you missed my point. I think tablet is just like a pencil, just thick and digital. To me the only difference is the space I got to work on because I have a tablet the size of two palms. That image was drawn with a tablet in order to try and make that point clear. I guess I failed.

To me the only difference is the space I got to work on because I have a tablet the size of two palms.
The difference is is that a pencil is dynamic and light. You can get different textures and lines far easier and quicker. You can also draw more precisely over large areas both by adjusting your grip and because of the traction offered by the paper. For example, it's easier to draw a large circular object on paper than it is to do so by hand in photoshop.
You drew THAT with a tablet? I don't believe you...
It really wouldn't surprise me.

Took this with my Google Nexus One (droid) Just a matter of re-touching stuff in photoshop at times, or in this case patching a few shots together for a nice panorama
Also, in recent news mankind was doomed to extinction when the robot revolt turned violent. And cherry blossom in japan. -by jyoujo

For example, it's easier to draw a large circular object on paper than it is to do so by hand in photoshop.
I find my tablet pencil to be just as dynamic as a pencil and light as a normal ink pen with a grip. I don't really see that much difference in the texture and lines the pencil makes and the tablet makes when it comes to doing it easier. If you want a different texture you'd need to draw on a different type of paper or use a different pencil, if I understand you right (which I probably don't, so please, explain). Which really is the same as switching to a different brush or adjusting the brush settings. You can adjust a tablet just as well by adjusting your grip as that only changes how your press and where you press, which doesn't make much of a difference if it's digital or traditional. The traction I will however agree with. It is indeed harder to draw a circle, at least with a small tablet, when you get a good sized one the difference is obviously there, but not as big. Dgg just realised how stupid idea it was to draw onto his computer screen with a pencil, take a screenshot and upload it just to prove a point
Dgg just realised how stupid idea it was to draw onto his computer screen with a pencil, take a screenshot and upload it just to prove a point
Yeah, only afterwards I realized the damage it caused to my screen. Oh well, thank God for dual monitors.
I recently connected my other monitor to my lapotop and I don't know what to do for a dual screen setup for photoshop. Ideas?
