I enjoy my fair share of Meshuggah and Mastodon but I can also enjoy metal throwbacks. Some of my favorite recent releases have been metal throwbacks, like Havok's new album or the new Christian Mistress album.

tbh i wouldn't take me too seriously on retro-thrash, I actually like some of it but I need to be obnoxious about something, and generally any product of 2000's retro-mania are fair game.

i'm not a big fan of death, thrash, black metals, grindcore, or really most brands of extreme heavy metal
i like power metal when it's not cheesy as fuck which is almost never
i like my ass some doom metal and its variants (sludge, atmo-sludge, post-metal if you're willing to think it exists) and post-black metal
my favorite metal band is agalloch, but runners-up are pelican, alcest, and isis
oh yeah and blood ceremony are fucking baller and anyone who says jex thoth is better is a fucking liar
