So uhh. Apparently Fear Factory were making a new album. I didn't know about this until I went to look up some lyrics. Saw that they have a new album, [i]The Industrialist[/i]. thankfully vocals only rarely turn me off music. I currently don't get a huge amount of time for listening to older metal since I'm to some degree invested in following modern underground metal/other genres, which is a shame since like so many others the NWOBHM years got me into metal.

I think it's probably reasonably well known how I feel about revivalism by now, but I don't find NWOTHM quite as grating as retro-thrash, probably because it embraces a wider spectrum of old styles of metal. Still not my cup of tea, really

Still not my cup of tea, really[/QUOTE] I haven't been in this thread for that long so I don't really know but I'm guessing you don't like it :v: yeah it's not that good as the metal it tries to re create and one of the really only ones who I think do it correctly are Screamer. Some try and replicate it and it sounds good while some try to and it fails while some try to and put their own style to it (I think Ghost does pretty well for that). More should try to re create it with their own style so it actually sounds different at least which I think why NWOTHM is not as good as it should be. NWOBHM didn't specifically mean one style as you had Heavy Metal Bands such as Saxon and Maiden, Power Metal such as Tyrant and Chateaux, Doom Metal such as Pagan Altar and Witchfinder and Black Metal such as Venom and Hell Most of NWOTHM is trying to be a mix of Heavy, Power and Speed metal and it sometimes doesn't succeed of being the same as old and hurts it more instead of helping it and it doesn't come close to being up there with NWOBHM

I remember reading in my NWOBHM encyclopaedia that they recorded basically 5 albums worth of material and are releasing them all, well it was made in 2000 and before Lords of Hypocrisy came out but does the singer actually sound like that still?

It appears Ben has ditched the screams which were so prevalent in [i]Slave Design[/i] and instead has been working on an absolutely nasty growl. As I was listening to the song I was thinking "well it seems they have moved entirely away from industrial death metal, and just went to industrial pop metal." Then 1:50 kicked in. Holy shit. I'm hoping for some songs on the new album that will be exclusively those vocals. So much better than Ben's clean vocals.
