NWOBHM you fool :v:
QWERTYUIOP
So uhh.
Apparently Fear Factory were making a new album.
I didn't know about this until I went to look up some lyrics. Saw that they have a new album, The Industrialist.

I'm liking it. Don't know what you guys think about Fear Factory, but I like it. Fucking loving those heavy-as-shit industrial kicks at 1:03. Also loving the synth-work. Very powerful.
Oh and the actual metal parts around 1:30 are great, too.
Yeah, I like it.
:v:

dunno, but i'm not complaining.
On the side, i fucking love ensiferum and i would kill to see them live again
This is some fucken amazing rare NWOBHM especially when the singer gets really loud when he says "this is my domain" jesus listening to that at high volume is fucken amazing.

and their most famous song among NWOBHM fans which is amazing

also here is a Lord of the Rings inspired song from the NWOBHM band ARC that's awesome because why the hell not :v:

The barman at the Blue Bell pub in Hull's old town is a massive fan of NWOBHM and earlier metal. Big Tygers of Pan-Tang fan.

That's actually pretty damn cool stuff, but don't dig the vocal style.
thankfully vocals only rarely turn me off music. In this case I actually really like the vocal style on Nespithe, I think it fits in nicely with the music.
anyway, here's something much prettier in terms of composition. taake is consistently one of my favourite BM artists on the more melodic side of things

I love Tygers of Pan Tang, not as much as lets say other big names like Angel Witch or Blitzkrieg but it's good, never got into Diamond Head weirdly enough and I should really give the Def Leppard debut album a listen
I can see why though he loves them, my favourite album from them personally

But yeah I can't get enough of NWOBHM which makes sense because I always loved Early Maiden so fucken much but I couldn't figure out what genre it was because no one really sounded like them but once I figured out NWOBHM I was like "OH yeah that's fucken it"
I would post Saint Vitus Born Too Late but hey since all these guys still make new albums I couldn't care right now :v: new Tygers of Pan Tang album this year, plus that new Tank album released, new Blackmayne coming out, and that Angel Witch album released at the beginning of the year which was awesome so fucken much NWOBHM for me to handle right now
Also has anyone heard of Wytch Hazel? just found out about them, only thing they have released so far was a Single in 2011 called "Surrender" and have an EP coming out this year
I think they have a lot of potential and sound pretty good

I currently don't get a huge amount of time for listening to older metal since I'm to some degree invested in following modern underground metal/other genres, which is a shame since like so many others the NWOBHM years got me into metal.

Yeah I'm currently the opposite where I have invested a lot of time into NWOBHM (have that 800 page encyclopaedia that I ordered beside me that details basically every band of the genre and gives me the story and discography of every single one that I'm not even a quarter way through) and haven't given much time to any new metal bands (NWOTHM interests me with bands like Cauldron, Enforcer, Ghost and Screamer)
I'm hoping though by the time I'm done with NWOBHM the new bands will have gotten better and have amazing stuff I can go through and actually appreciate, oh well have some NWOBHM and songs from my favourite NWOTHM band so far

Yes I know what a coincidence that one of my favourite songs to come out very recently sounds like it came straight out of the 80s :v: I really have to buy this album. Also I hear Quartz is active again, so many NWOBHM bands making comebacks it's awesome, I hope they put out a new album.
I love how NWOTHM sounds straight from the 80s it's so fucken good
I think it's probably reasonably well known how I feel about revivalism by now, but I don't find NWOTHM quite as grating as retro-thrash, probably because it embraces a wider spectrum of old styles of metal. Still not my cup of tea, really
Dunno if you guys are into Sybreed but here is a song from their upcoming new album, sounds pretty badass.

I haven't been in this thread for that long so I don't really know but I'm guessing you don't like it :v: yeah it's not that good as the metal it tries to re create and one of the really only ones who I think do it correctly are Screamer. Some try and replicate it and it sounds good while some try to and it fails while some try to and put their own style to it (I think Ghost does pretty well for that).
More should try to re create it with their own style so it actually sounds different at least which I think why NWOTHM is not as good as it should be. NWOBHM didn't specifically mean one style as you had Heavy Metal Bands such as Saxon and Maiden, Power Metal such as Tyrant and Chateaux, Doom Metal such as Pagan Altar and Witchfinder and Black Metal such as Venom and Hell
Most of NWOTHM is trying to be a mix of Heavy, Power and Speed metal and it sometimes doesn't succeed of being the same as old and hurts it more instead of helping it and it doesn't come close to being up there with NWOBHM

I saw the end of their set at Hellfest. They sounded very good, but I was kinda stranged out by the banjo at the very end of their show.
fuck yes I just found out new Pagan Altar this year as well

This means that 1 or 2 more albums need to be released.
Judging by this song released of it in December it sounds like its going to be awesome

One day a real rain will come and wash away all the scum off of the streets
It makes me sick I can't eat
All these people trying to be a fucking pimp
Turning 13 year old girls into motherfucking prostitutes
I will be the rain to come clean up this mess
The police don't do shit, not a thing so I do the rest
Everyone around me seems to change the way I think
Low-life junkie shooting dope, to me they're all the fucking same
They're the Scum of the Earth
Kill the Scum of the Earth
They''re the Scum of the Earth
A bastard tried to rob a store I shot'em in the head
He got beat with a pole even though he was laying dead
When I found somebody that would sell me a gun
Took it to the main guy
Shot him, he''''''''s the worst one
My nickleplated 25 did not come with a case
It's coming out from in my sleeve to shoot you in the face
Death enforcer, psychopath justice has been served
I done my job there's nothing left
I've killed the scum of the earth
That is exactly what I would expect of an extreme metal band created by 13 year olds. Hard to believe that it's not, really.
Copenhell mofos!
It was so awesome to see Slayer, Meshuggah, Korpiklaani, Immortal, Mastodon, Anthrax and Dying Fetus
fuck yes I just found out new Pagan Altar this year as well

Pagan Altar are AWESOME!
And they're pretty awesome in person as well. I remember seeing them twice here in a club and we were like sitting and drinking and the guys came to sit next to us and we talked for hours!

This riff is HEAVY as fuck.

These albums are all old releases right? I remember reading in my NWOBHM encyclopaedia that they recorded basically 5 albums worth of material and are releasing them all, well it was made in 2000 and before Lords of Hypocrisy came out but does the singer actually sound like that still?
Dunno if you guys are into Sybreed but here is a song from their upcoming new album, sounds pretty badass.

Jesus Christ.
It appears Ben has ditched the screams which were so prevalent in Slave Design and instead has been working on an absolutely nasty growl. As I was listening to the song I was thinking "well it seems they have moved entirely away from industrial death metal, and just went to industrial pop metal."
Then 1:50 kicked in. Holy shit.
I'm hoping for some songs on the new album that will be exclusively those vocals. So much better than Ben's clean vocals.
Welp I don't think i'll be going to Maiden after all.
just got my tickets to see Death and Gorguts

Damn i love the solo in this song.

shame, you should definitely try again in future, it's well worth it.
