I saw on the Discovery channel an experiment that Stephen Hawking tried. He printed out invitations to a party at his house, specifying the exact latitude and longitude coordinates, and the time and date. He theorized that if time travel will someday be possible, someone will find the invitation and return to Hawking's party. Obviously, it didn't work, or else you surely would've heard about it on the 6:00 news.
But that got me thinking about another time travel theory. What if there are separate universes that are identical to the universe we live in. If we could somehow travel to those universes at a time and place of our choosing, time travel could be possible, without the nasty side effects of rewriting history. Let's call the universe we live in Plane 1. Bob is going to Plane 2, another identical universe, to the year 1950. He tracks down his grandfather and kills him. Now that won't create a paradox because the Bob in Plane 2 will not exist, but Bob from Plane 1 will. Anything Bob does in Plane 2 will not affect him, or the universe he will return to.
