If the kid starts crying or anything like that over the internet argues then the parents usually finds out about it. Not always though. But it becomes much the same as the dangers that can happen with a fork if you don't watch them constantly. After all, they could suddenly stab themselves in the eye by an accident.

Of course they'll be offended. Most of them believe everything because they have yet to fully understand that there are different ways to react and think about it, and especially that internet people are way less important than real life people.
But all that is learned through experience. You don't become a pro anything without getting yourself hurt a lot and deal with and keep on going and learn how to avoid it the next time.
And of course as you also stated. Having their parents (but most importantly, friends) teach them not to listen and believe in everything.

There is no problem with younger people spelling improperly. It's just how it works. Over time they'll understand how it isn't really much faster and it just looks retarded.
