Canada is involved in like, every war the US is. We're like its little brother that won't stop following it around.
Does that mean Australia is in the family as well? Our military does pretty much exactly the same thing.

I like Aussie and British troops, I have friends in both groups who like to travel.
Best. Practical jokers. Ever.
I've always liked Canada for some unknow reason.
same.
i think it's because canada technically "lays low," america the dumbass country with the bad rep everyone hates.
I'm Canadian and I do like our military but if I had to choose I would love to be in the Heer. I'm a big Germanophile
Personally I love the Canadian military, mostly because through it I get free education, retirement at 42, access to government run research facilities and the homestead act (build anything I want on crown land as long as I clear it)
On top of that I have an assured job no matter what.

Our military's website is like the load screens from the Modern Warfare games now.

I love what they did with it. It's a bit overdone, but still sweet.

They used to have a page that listed all of the equipment, including hats.
I need to know what kind of hats we use now

You referring to the helmets? Last I checked, it was still the MICH Gallet.
This is how badass our military is
<Funny Pic>

Wish I could've seen them fire that thing. The recoil would have torn the cart in two.

Their old equipment page had an entire article about some kind of cloth hat.

I've got two friends in the US army, and other one who is retired.
One was in the Fallujah Offensive and the other whose been deployed about 5 times to different areas around the world. The one who was in the Fallujah Offensive has been to Afghanistan.
The retired one fought in Nam.
I've noticed this with military folks in general (not just my three friends), they have a great sense of humor.
The retired one had a pretty telling quote about his experience "99% of it is complete and utter boredom. It's that 1% that's sheer terror"
Anyone who is interested, I found a PDF about physical fitness guidelines to join the Canadian forces. Just in case you want to compare yourself to our soldiers.

That sounds like a quote from a book I read written about the Vietnam war. :P

It probably was the same guy. I dunno.
They had some really interesting stories from their time out there.
Especially regarding the Fallujah Offensive.:aaaaa:

There's a lovely book out there called House to House written by U.S. Army Staff Sergeant David Bellavia about the Fallujah offensive. He single-handedly went into a house filled with insurgents and took them all out on his own. One of them he literally got into a fist/knife fight with. Ballsy guy.
I sent him an e-mail, and we corresponded a little. He said he thought I'd make a good soldier. Which actually meant a lot to me.
well i guess you learn something new every day
The Canadian Forces are pretty garbage I gotta say.
Greetings from BC ;)

Figured :P I doubt you're really from BC, are you.
Fuck just looking at the website and hearing and reading all the stuff makes me want to join the military. The phase will probably wear off after a day or so though...
All this war has got to stop, any body remember Daniel Pearl and what was done to him?
Nay, share the story.
All this war has got to stop, any body remember Daniel Pearl and what was done to him?
War will never go away as long as there are 2 people alive on this planet.

http://www.forces.ca/flash.aspx#/flash/en/80-83-231-91/jobs/entry-plans/subsidized-education/subsidized-education
Yeah let me just read these off:
Free fully funded education, board and room, tuition and academic equipment
Full healthcare and Dental
Guaranteed Job after completion
Salary WHILE at school
Free skills training
Paid annual vacation
Mind you the retirement at 42 is full retirement benefits.
Well arch, Daniel Pearl was a American-Jewish journalist who was kidnapped, tortured and then beheaded by terrorists, and all on video which was sent to America as a threat.
Like hearing about all the horrible stuff done to innocent people makes me sick, I know it's bad but all those people should get nuked, well get as many civilans out as possible first.
But there's the problem. They're not a state, but an ideology. Let me quote V here.
'Ideas are bulletproof.'
You can't kill a movement with guns and bombs. Or nukes for that matter.
Great thread. Canada kicks major ass.
