Getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled - anything I should know?
So tomorrow i'm getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled under IV anesthesia (Since we don't have dental insurance they could've just told me the price again (Which is $2500, fucking dental) to knock me out, but whatever.). I'm more worried about not waking up after the anesthesia than I am the pulling of teeth, but I know I shouldn't be. Has anyone else got this done? Should I know anything beforehand?
Also to deal with the pain they gave my LorTab which coincidentally my dad OD'd on for his back pain. Wonderful.
Do exactly what the doctors tell you, my mom took care of me when I got all 4 removed and basically I was on a schedule and after 2 or so days I was out of bed. And there was really no pain but soreness at least for me.
A lot of people don't have room in their mouth for them and they either end up messing up the rest of their teeth (pushing them all over the place) or sitting there half covered with skin. I know I have to get mine taken out soon because they're half covered with skin and if I leave it this way my mouth could get infected and it would end up being much worse than if I just get them taken out.
Oh yeah as you just mentioned, I also had an abscess because of the operation afew days later, they had to stuff little stripes of bandages tinctured with anti biotics, it was a pain in the ass, I had to see the doctor every second day for 2 weeks and he changed it... fucking wisdom teeth:argh:
I had all 4 of mine pulled under IV anesthesia about 2 years ago. It's really not that bad; You fall asleep a few seconds after they put the needle in, then it feels like you wake up a second later with a mouth full of gauze. The next few hours are kinda cloudy, but I was able to walk to the car on my own.
They gave me Vicodin for the pain, but I didn't end up needing it(Good thing too, it turns out that Victodin does absolutely nothing to me.) The first few days don't plan on eating anything harder than apple sauce, but after that just be careful with harder foods.

That you will not have four of your teeth that you had before.
You're the only human I know who had 6 wisdom teeth.
Pretty sure it was six. I mean, they did say six.

Same here.
your life will be a living hell from the pain for the next week
Depends on the dude who had it. I was playing horn live pretty quickly after I had mine out (though I did bust a stitch early and get dry socket- not as painful as I expected, but icky as shit.)
If anything, your biggest bitch is probably going to be inability to eat proper food for a few days. Also, the stitches are itchy, but if you tongue them up they'll dissolve faster, and then if they come out too fast you may need new ones.
My friend had his pulled during spring break and he was out for the entire time, I think I need mine pulled now because they ache like hell.

Actually it's a blonde woman :v:
I had all four pulled, didn't hurt at all the whole time, smoked a "marijuana cigarette" hours after having them pulled at a party, no swelling. I'd do it again.
I hope you like the taste of blood.

A woman with a job?
Holy shit times are a' changin.
I had my wisdom teeth pulled about a month ago, It hurts like hell for about a week after.

I bet your doctor took a deep breath of the laughing gas and said: "Haha buddy you know what, I found 2 more :jerkbag:"
No seriously every human only has 4.
It starts to hurt real bad around the time you get home, so pop those painkillers quick. For me my tongue and throat felt dry like sandpaper, and when I tried to swallow things (even water) I couldn't, the shit just dribbled down my shirt.
My advice is to take your painkillers regularly, and before the pain comes in. The first 2 or 3 days suck, but after that it's just slight pain and shit food. Don't start eating solid foods early, it's not worth it and painful. Just eat your jell-o, pudding, eggs, etc. and deal with it.

Not true, I know someone that had 8 pulled. I used to think it was only 4 as well.
A lot of fucking ice cream. It's going to HURT.
Why are you guys getting them pulled out?
Because 4 of my baby teeth hasn't been pulled out yet due to some odd reason.

Jup ok just researched it and it is really rare but some seriously have more than 4, didn't know that either :aaa:
I got a local when I got my wisdom teeth removed. Then they injected some morphine since I could still feel some pain. Listening to them rip my teeth out was fun. But as many people said before, worst two weeks ever.
I got mine done a year ago. It's not that bad, really. The pain lasts for a few days, then your mouth is just really sore for a few weeks.
I got all 4 of mine taken out. the anesthesia is seriously the best part, don't worry about that. what really, really sucks is the next week. the pain is incredible (but the drugs are usually pretty good, i had vicadin). just be wary, you'll feel fine as soon as you wake up from the surgery, but about an hour later all hell will break loose (i apparently had it good too, i didn't swell or anything.) soooo yeah, hope this was comforting. buy soup.

and yeah, make sure you sleep the first few nights sitting up or youll wake up in a pool of blood. the bleeding doesn't stop for a while...
I was very VERY nervous getting mine pulled out, because my older brother had his taken out the week before, and the anesthesia didn't work during surgery. He couldn't move, but he could feel the entire thing.
I, however, was absolutely fine. The first week is bittersweet, lots of icepacks and headaches, BUT SO MUCH ICE CREAM AND MILKSHAKES. And also, buy a lot of gauze, cause you're gonna bleed like crazy. And DO NOT USE A STRAW FOR 2 WEEKS (or 3).
Basically, it's gonna suck, but not as much as it would if you left them in. You'll get over it.

ahahah that blows. holy god.
I just had 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled 2 weeks ago. It wasn't that bad they knock you out and you wake up on a bed but drowsy like hell. I still have a black eye from the operation.
When I got mine pulled, It didn't hurt too badly afterwords. I got some awesome muscle relaxants before the surgery, and got anesthesia when I got there. I was hopped up on pain killers for maybe 2-4 days, and then the pain was just a small annoyance.
Do it. When you wake up, sue the fuck out of them for taking your teeth. You WANTED those 4 teeth as a memory!
Do it whitout any drugs. Be a real man.
It all depends on if hey are impacted. The two that were not impacted were fine for me. A little sore, nothing bad. The two that were impacted were the ones that had me screaming on the couch for an hour afer the surgery. The I got Vikodin, I like Vikodin .
I had mine taken out exactly one week ago today. The actual surgery is no problem in the slightest, the IV knocks you out instantly. Afterwords you get a lot of Hydrocodone (Vicodin) and Ibuprofen (Motrin) and I highly suggest eating something soon after/before taking the meds. The swelling on your face causes your skin to be very sensitive, making sleeping on a pillow a major bitch. The 3-4th days are the worst, and you have to have a pill ready for you to take when you wake up in the mornings because during the night the pain relief goes away.
