If one needs to believe a lie to make themselves happy, why do you argue? And if they don't think it's not a lie, don't stop them. If someone lies to a friend, but they remain happy, I won't tell them for their own sake.
If you think that him lying to everyone on earth about himself is good, then I am afraid that we disagree. Now, if it is in the best interest of everyone that he does it, perhaps. I'm not taking an absolute side in this, but if he came clean it would boost the general acceptance of atheists in the US.
Would you rather Obama lost to Mcain and Palin just because he was an atheist?
It would be a perfect timing if he announced it after his re-election, or possibly after his 8 year presidency, if it goes on for that long. It would prove to everyone that an atheist can lead a country as good as any other person could.
i don't really understand what it is you're saying
I'm 17 years old. Also, please back up your statement saying that I'm 'thick'.
You're blindly throwing around statements and blocking out any attempt to refute them.
And then you mistake a wrongly made statement for an opinion.
It truly does bother me though, how we care so much about the president's religion. Shouldn't we as a whole care more about what he'll do for his. Religion should have no play in politics as long as they know enough to respect it in a way that everyone can be happy with.
I'm allowed to dream aren't I?

why does OP not even attempt to show any evidence that might indicate he's an atheist

No I'm not. Logic behind almost any statements can be refuted, so personally, I think you shouldn't ask him to back up his subjective statement as it would result in an endless debate. Just argue on the same level as the group you're arguing with, and not deeper, as if we go too deep we both lose.
Or it would get him nearly impeached and hated by a good 60-70% of the nation. You underestimate how distrusted atheists are. If you thought talk of him being a muslim was inflammatory, just wait till he mentions being an atheist.
I would find more horrendous that Obama lied about his religion than if he was actually Muslim/atheist/Buddhist.
I would find more horrendous that Obama lied about his religion than if he was actually Muslim/atheist/Buddhist.
I think every president in history has lied about worse things.
No I'm not.
How do you respond to what BrickInHead said, then?
He stated that the average IQ as posted in your charts was brought down heavily by the undereducated 3rd world countries, most of which are highly religious. This means that the two might be related, but not that one causes the other.
If you can understand this, then how can you still support your argument?

No problem :)
On the subject of Obama, I don't care that much if he's a Christian or an atheist as long as he accepts science and reason, which I think he probably does. The thing that bothers me is that he is forced into lying about being a Christian to be elected.

No problem, the more people who know about him the better. :)

People put religion into politics which makes things too difficult. Have we even had a president who isn't christian? Can't we look beyond things such as their religion? Because when was the last time Jesus, or the Pope, or...or Muhammad, or Shiva, or what ever deity you believe in voted?
This topic was created because I wanted to say that I think Obama is a nonbeliever but hiding it because if he was an Atheist, dumbasses won't vote for him. This is also about how people dislike/do not trust a person because of their religion.
hahahahaha no
Atheists believe they're smarter and more logical than Christians, but that's because the majority of us are angsty 15 year olds that already think we know everything about the world. The Atheist trend is one of Generation X and the Net Generation - people that have hardly even gotten out of fucking college or haven't even been in it. With age comes experience, those with experience are often far more intelligent.
...
Your religious belief has nothing to do with your intelligence. If you think it does, you're ridiculously pretentious and need to grow up significantly.
hey guys I'm gonna say that atheists are all dumb angsty 15 year olds who are tools for a trend but then complain about generalizations
You make a valid point about religiosity being irrelevant to intelligence, but why you have all of that other bullshit in your post is beyond me. It makes you look like a hypocrite.

Also, note how he goes onto to say Atheists think they're smarter and then claims "Choice of religion dosen't matter."

What? That's not a contradiction at all.
What? That's not a contradiction at all.
Yeah, but the guy does generalize and condescend and then complain about it before he actually says anything with merit.

it's in reference to atheists here
and the 3% of other atheists on this site that recognize this fact probably wouldn't be offended because it's a damn good generalization of this demographic and they likely experience the same annoyances

what am I complaining about exactly
[editline]07:32PM[/editline]
and of course I'm condescending; I don't pull punches because you might be in the same group as me as far as religion goes. If anything, I hold you to a higher standard.

You didn't mention any of that. You only said "atheists". That's like the guy who said Christians are all dumb saying "well, gee, I only meant the Christians here."
