Yes and no.
Most Dark Souls hackers tend to do something silly or slightly annoying and most players laugh or brush it off and continue on.
But lets say you're just getting into the game and you have saved up all these souls to level up and upgrade some gear. You get invaded by a hacker, he breaks all your gear and kills you. He then invades you again and kills you before you can retrieve your lost souls. So now not only do you have to waste a bunch of souls repairing all your gear, but all those hours of hard work are totally gone.
OR in Dark Souls 2, back before they patched it anyway, a guy could invade you, kill himself, and you get a FUCK LOAD of souls? Cool right? Well it would be but now your Soul Memory is fucked up and you can't co-op with your friends any more.

kind of depends on the game, in an amazing load-screen simulator grindfest like GTA V Online i can see how it could cause people to lose their will to play when they know that some random person who just downloaded the latest 10-minute job script from some hobbyist programmer so they can feel like the 1337-hax0r dudes from CSI for 5 minutes may come on and start fucking with them again at any time

i was trying to make a point that people will be annoyed if you fuck with them no matter if it's just ruining their "pointless fun", the cinema felt like a natural analogy seeing as like everyone who's been to one at least twice will have gotten annoyed at someone for lessening their enjoyment of the movie

Not really. This is pretty funny when you don't play GTAO or you are the hacker in question, but this is a representation of what's happening on every gamemode in every server. You can't escape from it without going offline, AKA not playing 50% of the game. Some of these people are probably getting pissed off because this is their 10th server in a row, over several hours of loading screens, where someone kills them over and over and wipes their entire inventory/ammo.
You could make the argument "stop playing the game!!" but a lot of people still paid for this (brand new 60$) game and bought new rigs to use it, I don't think that people like you & OP are entitled at all to griefing.

This is my argument about it. I worked hard to pay for that game and the graphics card to run it. All I want to do is finally play the game properly and not have to worry about someone fucking around too much with me. If its in a funny way, or just goofing around, I'll find it funny and shit absolutely. But, if its some asshat teleporting and headshotting me every 10 seconds, I'm definitely going to get frustrated.

Wow, didn't know GTAO was so fucked.
Wonder if Rockstar will do anything.
I also blame Rockstar here for designing the netcode in such a way that allows these hackers to do ridiculous things that should be [B]extremely[/B] easy to detect by any decent anti-cheat system.
