There are worse jobs. And the army does have good benefits.
No, I meant why would he lie about having a POG job?
Don't camp.
Nobody likes campers.
I'm joining up in about a year. For the time between now and then, me and my friend are getting a job over the summer that involves a shitload of heavy lifting then living on a massive area of land owned by his granddad, who owns a couple of shotguns and possibly some rifles. Basically we're gonna get as close to the real thing as possible, as civilians. That way we'll be fit and experienced for actual training. The idea is that training won't be much more than we're used to by then.
What I'd like to know if you, or any other servicemen or ex-servicemen did any similar kind of preparation before they joined up.
I have basic in less than 2 months. August 2nd to be exact, and I've been following a training schedule I found on the danish army's website to get in shape.
Good Luck.
good luck with that shit OP. I hope you come out at the end with some good experience. My cousins are both in the british military, One was a grunt/tank pilot but she's pregnant now so she's not in afghan anymore. my other cousin is in some super secret special embedded shit that he's not allowed to talk about.
good luck and serve your country well :D
your country not mine.
-Matt-94, get your head out of your ass. Nobody is trying to sound better than anyone else. I'm obviously laying out an extreme emotional occurrence in my life. If you think you're hardcore because you can try to point out nonexistent points: :fuckoff:
oh, but it's ok to think you're hardcore because you're gonna go analyze images for a while
To all you people going "Lolz Military kills people dey suk"
Somebody has to fucking do it. We've made enough enemies that we NEED a large military. Our military has made mistakes, yes- but come on, if everybody decided joining the military was horrible and evil, we'd be in deep shit.
Good luck, man. No pressure, but remember. How you do at your job could decide the fate of an innocent life at some point.

actually we really don't atm, the US is quite politically stable in comparison to other countries at the moment- we have no need for such a mammoth military budget if we're not going to use it.

Well, we're on the offensive in the Middle East, cracking down on the so called "Drug War", Iran is being increasingly hostile talking about us (Although that is just talk), and it's looking like shit'll go down in the Koreas. Looks like we may need that budget soon.
I respect you \:v:—
An imagery analyst? You'll probably be doing AIT here at Ft. Huachuca then. Might see you around.
Can you send out UAVs whenever you want or do the guys on the field need 3 kills first
Yeah, we sit around the barracks all day waiting for people to get kill streaks. It's very boring.
Because I so will go around base saying I'm a furry right?
There's a kid in our company who's a furry. I was the unlucky guy to discover that fact, when I jokingly accused him of being sexually attracted to cartoon animals, and he replied with, "So?"
Apparently he's really into horse-people. Centaurs and shit, I guess. I don't talk to him much. He doesn't shower, he speaks like he's not familiar with English (not an accent or anything, he just uses short, fractured sentences and forces a throaty lisp); and his hair is always clumped and ruffled like he tried to groom himself with a handful of gorilla glue. I guess what I'm getting at is that you really, really, really shouldn't be like this kid- and if anybody ever accuses you of being a furry, jokingly or otherwise, deny that shit. It just isn't acceptable in the military. Or anywhere else really, but especially not in the military.
You do get leave you know, it's not like you're going to be gone for 4 and a half years without any civillian contact. I don't like the way the OP sounds, he makes it sound like it's such a huge deal and noone else does it, when in reality thousands of people ship out everyday. I'm joining the military aswell before you bitch. Good luck though at basic man, it isn't as hard as they make it out to be. Especially Army basic.
You'll be able to communicate with the outside world in your AIT school.
Good luck out there!
Good on you sir, good luck!
Quick word of advice: Everyone in your company will hate you and label you as "that kid" because of you coming out of school in a leadership position. And don't start to think you're hard shit for being airborne, you are literally about as useful as regular infantry, especially if you're just in division without having attended school.
I'm not one to throw rank around even if I'd be a Second Lieutenant. Either way if people want to label officers as "those kids" then so be it.
I'm not joining to be "hot shit" I'm joining to serve my country and say "I did this" you know, make something of myself

I don't even hint at the fact I'm a furry in real life. Its not obvious that I'm one. And I'd never even mention it to anyone let alone my buddies

Good one, BDA.
Seriously, bro. Listen to him. Okay, so I get off to furry porn too, big deal. Still, if you want to get along with the people in your unit, don't even admit it if they accuse you of it, just deny that shit. Don't get it in your head that there's anything to defend or be proud of, 'cause there really isn't. It'd be like someone else going around and admitting they like to get fucked in the ass by a horse or something. Sexual deviance is cool and all, but in this case honesty is not the best policy.
I'm in St. Louis right now. I get to wait about an hour for a bus and then I'm off to BCT. I got to fly here all by myself, too. :smug:
BDA, you need to PM with your IRL info, that way we can be in touch.
You better hope that real war is not like BC2 or MW2
But you can respawn.
Good luck!
You sound a little melodramatic, it ain't gonna be so bad.
(I leave August 10th)
Let's just say that I'm using the military to my advantage, even though I know I'm serving a corrupt and brutal government.
ok then remember
hide fucking hide
let your buddies die "or atleast the ones you hate"
the secret to winning is being a pussy ermm i meant surviving

anyone know what Benning is like during the months of August-December?
I am getting the ass end of summer and a full frontal of winter, but surely it'll be nice in between? Also, how's Spring? I'll be there for Spring as well.
I hope you come back in one piece. Good luck.
Good luck! I hope you come back alive. Serving your country in a military is a great way to build character and gain respect from fellow peoples.
