Oh yes, I liked it. But Spoony should've been in it more :3:
As much as we all like Spoony, he's just one of the many many characters. In fact, I'd say he got more screen time than Lord Kat, Paw, Sage, or Chris Larios (who only got one episode). I'm almost tempted to count the number of scenes each character is in. Also, [sp]SANTA CHRIST, SANTA CHRIST! WE ALL LOVE SANTA CHRIST![/sp]

And people looking at Spoony and saying "God Spoony, you're perfect in every way. I'm reptillian shit compared to you." Because he's not only an enjoyable actor, but he's a funny writer. The only person on the site that is those two things. Though Lord Kat is pretty chill. He's good because he doesn't try to be better than he actually is.
Oh yes, I liked it. But Spoony should've been in it more :3:
I thought that after the critic he had the most screentime. And I'd love to see some kind of struggle between him and Linkara. Nonetheless, I liked the series, was fun to watch. Best turn would have been if they got the AVGN to beat the critic :v:
Oh yes, I liked it. But Spoony should've been in it more :3:
Spoony had plenty of screen time though.
Best turn would have been if they got the AVGN to beat the critic :v:
Well, technically, [sp]AVGN's counterpart Board James did somewhat help them use the Risk board to plan their final attack. So, by proxy, AVGN did help them beat the Critic.[/sp]
I liked Linkara in the final episodes when he became a strategist, although I was secretly hoping for a Harvey Finevoice cameo.
Is it just me, or were the credits better at showing the stoiry then the actual episodes. They were kickass. [editline]07:33PM[/editline] This is the most epic screencap you could take out of all 6 films, and was worth watching the series for. [editline]07:37PM[/editline] Dammit now I need to go with my idea and make a fighter with all the characters in it.
Added the bloopers to the op, or see them here: http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/specials/22252-kickassia-bloopers [editline]02:04PM[/editline]
Well, technically, [sp]AVGN's counterpart Board James did somewhat help them use the Risk board to plan their final attack. Still, would have been great to see the AVGN and the Critic battle it out again, especially with the NCs Mr. Bison costume.
There, I finished it. What a waste.
I actually liked this, was quite entertaining to watch in my opinion
After watching this I know why a lot of people hate that guy with the glasses
Spoony put a commentary up if that interests you.
The commentary is great.
The impression I got from the commentary was that Spoony had some great ideas, and Doug just shot them all down for not being shouty and over the top.
Hello my name is Libertas and I am the fun police your under arrest for being entertained by anything with a budget below 4 million
Honestly man the thing is better when it's low budget. NC was best when he just sat in front of a blank background and made witty comments about the movie (read: witty, not screeching or playing with that fucking toy gun). This applies to most of these reviewers, James Rolfe is really interesting when he just talks about the game/movie he's reviewing, he has a genuine passion for these things which really shows through in his reviews. When he tries his hand at the horribly unfunny slapstick, though, which is usually in every episode, it's bloody terrible. Part of the reason why I started watching NC was because it was less cringeworthy than AVGN, Doug needs to shut the fuck up and actually be funny again. [editline]03:59PM[/editline] I'm deliberately avoiding watching this because of how cringeworthy it's inevitably gonna be.
The impression I got from the commentary was that Spoony had some great ideas, and Doug just shot them all down for not being shouty and over the top.
Yeah
I would've killed to see Spoony direct and write this using the same location.
http://spoonyexperiment.com/forum/index.php?topic=22028.90 Rob walker responded on this whole "spoony should have had more showtime" thing:
If Spoony had any problem with Dr. Insano being in a fist fight, he didn't tell US. So this whole "Spoony needs to be brought in on the script" thing is completely bogus. He seemed to enjoy himself thoroughly. As a plot point, OF COURSE INSANO LOSES! Why would he NOT? Maybe Doug and I are wrong on this, but isn't the whole Insano shtick that he's always defeated? Why would he WIN all of a sudden? The fan requests for that are bizarre, in my opinion. Speaking of fans, we are convinced now that nothing will ever satisfy Spoony's fans, and we sometimes wonder why we bother. We genuinely love working with the guy, but how much do these people want? No, it's an anniversary video -- we can't give him THE starring role. We try to spread it evenly amongst the cast. After all the complaining last year, we thought we were doing his fans a favor by giving him a much expanded role AND a Doctor Insano scene and a FIGHT where Insano nearly gets the upper hand. Instead, people are upset because the fight was too short or not "sciencey" enough... Well, yeah. Let's see, we have 4 days to shoot this thing, and only 3 days on location, with only 1 1/2 of those days indoors. We have no professional lighting and have to work the ambient light coming through the window, which is dying every minute because we are in a valley surrounded by mountains. So let's see... instead of doing something quickly, let's bring a whole bunch a gadgets and science props that take up a large amount of space (and we're already overloaded with gun props to begin with) and shoot a much longer sequence involving giant mad scientist devices and what-not. Hell, let's bring in green screen FX and CGI and everything... which will be great because we know we can't go back and do a reshoot should something not match up in post. So we'd only have one shot at that. Or... ummm... no. How about we don't. Because we have 4 days to shoot a 90 minute movie. And while not the optimum scenario, a fist fight is the fastest, most practical, low budget solution we've got. People who complain that Part 6 wasn't as good need to remember a key thing: THIS WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE IN SIX PARTS. We put it in six parts as a business practically. Artistically speaking, it's a feature film (intended to be seen all at once) that was designed to be shown in THREE parts. So what was supposed to be the ending was parts 5 and 6 together. They, as a whole, comprised what we felt was going to be the final part and climax. Look at it that way, and I think it's a little more satisfying as a whole -- cause the original third act is comprised of both Insano, the death of Santa Christ, the plotting session, the attack on Doug, and the Deus Santa Machina. On the same level, the return of Santa Christ would've worked much better if people didn't have a day to think about it and figure it out. Is it predictable? Sure. But again, we were figuring this would be shown all as one part, so the payoff would come much quicker -- without a 24 hour delay to ruminate over. As a plot point, we felt like doing it simply because it has become a sort of tradition on this site to have the "gang" talked in-'n-out of things so easily. We thought it would be a cute nod to the first brawl. Guess we were wrong. For those that say the ending is weak, all I can say is it was planned to be longer and more intense. However, we simply ran out of shooting time., so it sadly ended up shorter by default. The final battle was prolonged in the script, and there was supposed to be an epic melee for the NC's hat that we simply couldn't shoot because we ran out of time. So yeah, we had to make cuts because it was simply impossible to shoot everything we had. This is why the whole "we should've done something more epic with Insano" thing still blows my mind. With what time were we supposed to do that with? Films just don't make themselves, especially in 4 days. If it sounds like I'm mad, I'm not. I'm more or less just confused as to what's expected. We're still a low budget operation compared to professional studios, and the only person I know who has shot a film this fast is Roger Corman. Or the porno industry. So try not to expect TOO much perfection out of our Mickey Mouse operation. Unless we do make a porno. In which case, our stars should at least be hot. Hmmmm... maybe that's how we'll top this 2nd Year Anniversary next year?
And spoony commented on that post himself (in his forum):
Yeah, word up on that, guys. It's really frustrating when you've worked this hard on a guerilla production, half-killed yourself putting on a show, and people complain. Do you see now why it's sort of hard to work with people when they actively fear my fanbase? I certainly defend your right to have an opinion, but sometimes your comments come across as petulance and ingratitude. With Doug and Rob I think it's doubly wounding to see this kind of backlash, considering the whole project is done as a love letter, a video specifically appreciating the fans that make such a production possible. It's like getting a Valentine's Day card from a loved one and then complaining that it's cheap, or you thought the joke inside was cheesy. It's a lot of hard work that was put in by a lot of people, who sweat and bled to make you laugh for a movie you didn't even have to pay to see, and yet some of you are still content to shit all over it. Maybe you didn't like it, but maybe you should show a little tact and keep your mouth shut. You're actually causing real, measurable damage to my business relationship, and I don't appreciate it. I can't believe I have to apologize for so many people who will happily piss on a free lunch. You wonder why I might not get invited to stuff like this again, or why Scarlett doesn't want to appear in videos anymore? It's because of reactions like this.
Basically, the way you all act is this: "WAHHHHHHHH WHY ISN'T THIS WHOLE THING ABOUT SPOONY THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST LINED UP AND SUCKED HIS DICK FOR THE REST OF THE MOVIE"
I have to admit while I like his videos Spoony is seriously way too sensitive about criticism directed at anybody. I'd hate to see how he'd react to tgwtg.com getting raided if such a thing were to happen. I don't consider Spoony's part to necessarily be underplayed, and I respect Rob Walker's attempts to defend his and Doug's decisions, even if I don't particularly like the direction they've gone in, they were the ones that wrote it and obviously they have a much different audience to deal with than Spoony alone would. I mean there were only like 6 people out of the whole thing that had major parts. But Spoony doesn't need to respond to any of this. It'd be fine if he said "look guys I'm sorry if this didn't turn out the way you had hoped, but there's nothing I can do about it." But he just takes it way too far. If your fans are being assholes to people then tell those people to ignore them. You don't need to whine about it.
Kind of ironic too, he bashes things for a living.

It's easy to grovel and aplogize to the fans dissapointment, but if he's telling us that people are starting to feel uneasy about working with him because of his fans it's important that he steps in and does something about it. Sure, he could lose some fans in the process, but I think the majority would understand why he has to do it.
Spoony put a commentary up if that interests you.
link?
Am I the only one that just LOVES Phelous :3:
http://spoonyexperiment.com/2010/05/22/kickassia-spoony-commentary/ I already said there are ideas Spoony conveys in this commentary that I felt were unfairly shot down, but overall, I thought it was all done pretty well. I don't just blindly defend Spoony - I have no idea why he brought back the Lost in Space villain Spoony who likes "an army of spiders" - that just wasn't funny in any context other than the original, reviewing the film. I just feel that NC seems to prefer comedy so loud and obvious it's practically insulting our intelligence, and it's getting old.
It was good. It could be better, but still, it had a lot of effort in it. I hope they do something similar again.
They filmed it in 4 days. That's a pretty good effort.
