Post Your Piece mk. II :: what am i supposed to write here - General

Well im not dead so I think it's safe.

I made a piece today out of a brass airsoft barrel and an 8 millimeter stainless steel bearing spacer. Its just a little bat. It works though. Pretty good. I'm gonna keep it. [editline]21st July 2013[/editline] I'll post a picture if i remember to tomorrow. its pretty neat.

Anyone know a good place to buy soft glass bongs online besides Jupiter and bongsandsuch?

yeah and you should really just get glass on glass joints. they are way better and you can easily get a new bowl for it if you happen to break it

Its held on by friction. I had to put the spacer on concrete and tap the barrel in with a hammer. I put the paper in for obvious reasons. It works well, and I really like it. Home made pieces have some charm. I just wish the spacer wasn't slightly canted. Pieces and green on the bottom level, then a layer of easily removable soft foam, and then my big ass lighter and some firecrackers. Locked with a 45mm master lock. Completely air tight.

I don't really like the look of the expensive high tech scientific Pyrex beaker bongs with all their fancy attachments. Granted they yield a much nicer smoke, but I don't find them visually pleasing. The difference being, one hits like a champ, and the other does not. I see more old-school smokers favoring bongs like that, honestly I'd hit my bong over a soft glass bong any day of the week.

p sure brass puts off carcinogenic fumes when heated, not going to bother pulling up info for it though because if you don't use glass you pretty much deserve what happens to you. not to mention im too lazy to care about someone elses health right now

Herfjotur, I'm not going to tell you how to live your life but I would not smoke out of that.

If you are, i'd use it just hold a joint or a blunt. Don't think its very safe regardless.

I'm not at all worried about it. Brass screens are pretty common, and the bowl is steel so no direct heat is applied to the brass. I also cleaned the entire thing with 91% iso and salt prior to use, including swabbing the inside. This would remove any surface oxidation that may be harmful. Also, now that there is a layer of resin within, it won't oxidize and will only become safer with use. I'm 100% confident that it is completely safe for use. Everybody has an opinion though.

Everybody has an opinion though.[/QUOTE] I hadn't realized you took care of the oxidation. You should be okay. I still wouldn't call it 100% safe though. The risk is low but it's there.
